Overall construction
The Yes4All adjustable dumbbells feature an all-metal construction. The main advantage about them is that they don’t integrate any plastic elements that can break, being extremely sturdy. Weight plates are made of cast iron, and dyed with a black, durable enamel. This enamel is actually an oil paint which not only keeps the plates from rusting, it’s also compact, doesn’t come off easily and doesn’t stain clothing, like the oils on various other types of dumbbells.
The biggest (5 lbs) plates have a diameter of 6.5″ (16.5 cm), which actually gives the maximum width of the dumbbells. This being said, compared with other adjustable dumbbells, such as the XMark or PowerBlock, these are less bulky. On the other hand, the bars are a bit longer than the standard 14″ (35.5) threaded bars. They’re 16″ (40.6) long, with 5.5″ (14 cm) sleeves, and 5″ (12.7 cm) grips.
The dumbbell bars are steel-made, featuring a chrome finish, with knurled grips. Now, this knurled surface, although it’s designed to offer a superior grip, for a non-seasoned user they may be a bit abrasive. However, this problem can easily be solved with workout gloves.
The sleeves of the bars are threaded, and two threaded collars are supplied for each bar. These collars tighten pretty well, thus the weight plates won’t wobble during workouts. Two rubber gaskets are also supplied for each bar, meant to cover the bars’ stoppers, in order to prevent the first loaded weight plates from moving or rattling.
An important aspect that everyone should know about these dumbbells, regards their bars’ thickness, and the holes of the plates. The sleeves of the bars are 1.25″ (3.1 cm) in diameter, while the weight plates have 1.25″ (3.1 cm) holes. This means you won’t be able to fit standard 1″ weight plates on these bars. However, the weight plates supplied with this set can be loaded onto 1″ standard dumbbell bars. They may rattle a bit on a 1″ bar, but still, you’ll be able to use them.
One last thing to mention here regards shipping. The set is shipped in two boxes, each one with a weight of 52.5 lbs (23.8 kg).
Adjustment system and increments
It’s pretty obvious that the Yes4All adjustable dumbbells feature a classic adjustment system. You simply load the desired plates on the bars, secure them with the collars and proceed with your exercises.
Of course, since they don’t have an extra fast adjustment system such as the Bayou adjustable dumbbells for example, it can take up to 45-50 sec. to adjust one dumbbell. On a quick-adjustment dumbbell set, such as the Bayou or Bowflex 1090, you can actually adjust one dumbbell in 5-6 seconds. But on the other hand, these Yes4All dumbbells, cost considerably less than a set of dumbbells with a fancy adjustment system.
The Yes4All 105 lbs dumbbell set includes the following weight plates:
- 4 x 1.25 lbs (0.5 kg)
- 4 x 2.5 lbs (1.13 kg)
- 16 x 5.0 lbs (2.26 kg)
The handles themselves weigh 5 lbs (2.26 kg), so this is basically your starting weight. Therefore, considering the supplied weight plates, up from 5 lbs, you can basically increase the weight of each dumbbell, by 5 lbs (2.26 kg), or 10 lbs (4.5 kg), up to a total of 52.5 lbs (23.8 kg).

Final Word
The Yes4All adjustable dumbbells are excellent free weights for beginners and intermediate users. They offer a sturdy, all-metal construction, being almost impossible to break, perfect for all exercises that can be achieved with dumbbells. They don’t have a fancy and quick adjustment system, but on the other hand they’re extremely safe. Also, they come for an extremely affordable price.
