The ASUNA 20740 is one of the treadmills released by Sunny Health & Fitness in 2021. It’s an under-desk treadmill similar to the Sunny Health & Fitness Walkstation SF-T7945. However, it has a console with a display divided into three sections and a larger walking surface.

Frame construction
The Sunny Health & Fitness ASUNA Treadpad 20740 is built on a heavy-duty aluminum frame but also 
integrates several steel and durable thermoplastic parts. For example, the rear stabilizers are steel-made, while the covers of the rails and the motor cover are plastic-made. The aluminum tubes are not painted; they have their own natural metallic finish as aluminum is highly resistant to corrosion.
This treadmill is a bit larger than other under-desk treadmills, especially lengthwise. It is approx. 58″ (148 cm) long, and 25″ (63 cm) wide. This being said, it should fit under most desks. However, widthwise it might be a tight fit for some desks. So, if you’re planning to use it at a desk, make sure that the gap underneath it is at least 26 – 27 inches (66 – 68 cm).
The ASUNA Treadpad 20740 is not too heavy. Its net weight is approx. 66 lbs (30 kg). This being said, it can be carried by only one person even when it is in the box. Also, once it’s removed from the box, it can easily be moved as its front base features two sets of wheels. It does not fold in any way and does not have a support leg, but it can be stored vertically against a wall.
This treadmill does not have adjustable levelers. Thus, if the floor is irregular, you might want to place it on a rubber mat or carpet. Its rear feet and front base rest on large rubber pads, though. These improve the machine’s grip on the floor.
Deck construction
First of all, the ASUNA 20740 under-desk treadmill does not have an incline system. It provides a horizontal 
walking surface for a neutral walking motion. It’s also not recommended to change its incline with any improvisation.
The machine offers a pretty large walking area compared to other under-desk treadmills. Its active area is 51″ (131 cm) long, and 17.5″ (44 cm) wide. This being said, it should be able to accommodate users of all sizes, allowing a complete range of motion. It is also rated for a maximum user weight limit of 220 lbs (100 kg).
The unit’s deck is equipped with three pairs of shock absorption elements. They’re all equal in size and properties, so they distribute the walking impact evenly over the walking surface. They are concealed by the machine’s plastic rail cover. Also, the internal deckboard has a bit of flex, so it adds to the overall cushioning.
The unit’s belt is multi-layered. The top layer is rubberized and features a square pattern for improved contact with just about any type of athletic shoes. Its inner layers also add to the machine’s overall cushioning improving the shock absorption.
The integrated rollers feature a crowned design. This improves traction and also prolongs the lifespan of the belt. They are equipped with high-grade ball bearings for a smooth motion. Their exact diameter is not specified, but since this is a small treadmill, they’re obviously not as thick as for a commercial model. They’re also durable enough to withstand any user up to the specified 220 lbs (100 kg) limit, without bending or losing performance.
Last but not least, this Sunny Health & Fitness treadmill is pretty slim. The belt step-up height is approx. 4.5″ (11.5 cm), while its front section is 5.4″ (14 cm) higher than the floor level. This being said, the treadmill should fit with no problem under a bed or couch if there is at least 6″ (15.2 cm) of clearance. Also, since it’s not a running treadmill, you shouldn’t worry about ceiling height as long as you use it in a room with a ceiling that is at least 10″ (25 cm) above your height.
Drive motor
The ASUNA 20740 is an electric, motorized treadmill. This being said, you must connect it to a power outlet in
order to use it. It comes with a power cord featuring a standard U.S. plug. The connector for the power cord is on the front right side of the deck. There’s also an On/Off switch next to it.
The treadmill is equipped with a 1.5 HP motor, similar to the SereneLife SLFTRD25. It integrates a small flywheel for improved motion stability. Although it’s not a super-powerful motor as the ones in commercial-grade treadmills, it’s still designed to provide superior performance. However, Sunny Health & Fitness recommends stopping it and letting it rest for at least 10 minutes after every 2 hours of use.
The motor offers a speed range between 0.3 MPH and 4.0 MPH. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH, so you can easily and safely adapt your pace. The machine’s console does not have any buttons, so you can only make speed adjustments from the provided remote control. The remote only has buttons for gradual adjustment. Therefore, you cannot select 2 MPH immediately, for example. You have to gradually increase or decrease the speed to this level.
The motor itself is pretty quiet. However, depending on your weight, walking technique, posture, footwear, and other factors, your cadence may generate more or less noise. So, even if it does not generate too much noise, the machine can be heard when it is in use.
Console
The Sunny Health & Fitness ASUNA 20740 treadpad is equipped with a minimalistic console. It features
a LED display divided into three windows. From left to right, these indicate time/calories, distance/steps, and speed. The machine does not have a pulse reading function; it does not have any sensors and the console cannot track your pulse if you wear a wireless HR chest strap or armband.
Speed and distance are by default set to imperial units (MPH and miles). However, there is the possibility of changing them to metric units. You can press and hold the Start/Stop button of the remote for a few seconds, then press + or – to make the change.
The treadmill’s console does not have any controls. So, all the adjustments can only be done from the included remote control. The remote has three buttons. These are Start/Stop, +, and -. The +/- keys allow you to adjust the speed. The Start/Stop sets the belt in motion and pauses it when needed. The remote is battery-powered. It requires a CR2032 battery which is included.
The console does not have any pre-set programs or online connectivity. It also does not offer the possibility to select goals for your workouts. It automatically stops the belt if no one is on the treadmill for more than 10 seconds and remains in standby mode (paused) for 4 minutes.
Assembly and Maintenance
The ASUNA 20740 treadmill comes fully assembled. All you need to do is remove it from the box, connect the cable, plug it in, and it’s ready for use.
For maintenance, you only have to keep the machine clean, especially the belt, to prevent any debris or textile fibers from being caught into the rollers or motor. The belt requires lubrication before the first use, and after that every 2-3 months. A bottle of lubricant is included with the machine.
