Frame construction

The Soozier A90-212 indoor cycling bike features a triangular frame made of steel tubing. Most of the tubes in its construction are oval for improved sturdiness. The main tube, as well as the front fork tubes, are slightly curved for superior aesthetics and structural strength. Also, the bike’s longitudinal base consists of two parallel bars which not only add to the overall strength of the bike as well, they also place its center of gravity closer to the floor which increases its stability.

The main frame tubes are double-coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this bike model. The seat post, the handlebar post, and the flywheel are chrome-plated. The drivetrain guard and the side covers of the flywheel are made from a durable ABS polymer.

The Soozier A90-212 is not a large fitness machine. It is approx. 43.75″ (111 cm) long, and 23.5″ (60 cm) wide. It is recommended, though, to allow at least two feet of clearance all around it, for easy access and safe usage.

The exact weight of the bike is not specified. But considering that it is equipped with a 40 lbs (18 kg) flywheel, and has a pretty thick frame, it probably weighs more than 80 lbs (36 kg) like other similar spin bikes. This being said, the packaged unit may not be too easy to carry by only one person. However, once the bike is assembled, it can be moved with ease as its front base features transport wheels. Also, both its base bars have adjustable levelers.

Seat and handlebars

The Soozier A90-212 exercise bike includes a seat designed for superior comfort. To begin with, the saddle is constructed on a nylon shell and has a thick layer of foam padding. Its top cover is made from durable, double-stitched vinyl material. It is contoured and has a large cropping in the middle for improved breathability. It also has two large springs at the rear which enable it to bend slightly, in order to adapt better to your movement during seated workout sessions.

The seat is four-way adjustable. Its upright post has 5 adjustment positions, while the horizontal slider adds several inches of front-to-back adjustment. This being said, the bike should accommodate with no problem users between 5’1″ and 6’4″ (155 – 193 cm). It is also rated for a maximum weight limit of 330 lbs (150 kg) which is not bad for a home-use bike.

One last aspect about the seat regards its attachment system. It is a standard, collar-type attachment system which means that you can also adjust the saddle’s angle a little bit. It also means that it can easily be removed if necessary, and compatible options are widely available.

This Soozier indoor cycle is equipped with a multi-grip handlebar, similar to the Snode Power One, or the ECHANFIT CBK1901P. It has a multi-grip design featuring climbing grips, aero grips, drop-down grips, and also offers the possibility to adopt a cruising grip, a standard grip, and a close parallel grip.

The bike’s handlebar is fully covered by a layer of rubber-foam material for a comfortable and secure grip. It is four-way adjustable just like the seat, a feature that not all spin bikes have. However, it does not integrate pulse sensors. Also, the bike does not include a device holder, a bottle holder, or a fitness monitor.

Resistance system

The Soozier A90-212 is equipped with a standard friction resistance system. It is not motorized, so you don’t need a power adapter or power cord for it. But on the other hand, the resistance can only be adjusted manually.

The bike’s resistance system consists of a heavy-duty leather & foam pad attached to the frame above the flywheel. This brake pad connects to the bike’s tension knob. Therefore, when you turn the knob clockwise, it applies more friction to the flywheel which increases the pedaling difficulty.

The bike’s resistance system does not have pre-set tension levels. You simply tighten the pad until the bike provides a pedaling difficulty that fits your workout requirements. As a general idea, you can tighten the pad on the flywheel up to the point that you can barely pedal.

The tension knob has the function of an emergency brake, as well. You can press it down to instantly stop the flywheel from spinning. The pad may require lubrication from time to time, in order to provide a smoother and quieter pedaling motion. It will also wear out, but should last for at least a year, even if the bike is used for a few hours daily.

Drive system

The Soozier A90-212 indoor cycling trainer is equipped with a 40 lbs (18 kg) flywheel, similar to commercial spin bikes. As we’ve mentioned above, it is chrome-plated and has ABS side covers. It is perimeter-weighted for improved inertia and for a consistent momentum.

The bike’s flywheel is bi-directional. In other words, you can pedal in reverse on this Soozier bike as well. But since the bike has a simple transmission system, without a derailleur like road bikes, when pedaling in reverse the resistance remains constant. Therefore, you can alternate standard pedaling sessions with reverse pedaling sessions to focus different muscle groups.

The bike’s drive system uses a poly-v belt. This type of transmission comes with a few advantages. One, you don’t have to ever lubricate it. Two, it delivers a very smooth pedaling motion. And three, it generates almost no noise when it is in use.

The bike is equipped with a heavy-duty crankset featuring flat arms like road bikes. They are chrome-plated for higher resistance to corrosion and improved aesthetics. The pedals are also made from a metallic alloy. They don’t have SPD elements for spin shoes but they are equipped with adjustable toe cages. Also, their threads are 9/16 so you can easily find compatible replacements in case you want to change them.

Assembly and Maintenance

The bike’s main body comes pre-assembled. The only parts that require assembly are the two base bars, the seat, the handlebars, and the pedals. The whole assembly task if pretty straightforward and shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. All the necessary tools for the assembly are included and the manual provides clear assembly instructions.

The bike’s maintenance doesn’t require much. The bike’s drivetrain doesn’t require lubrication but the brake pad may need a few drops of silicone lubricant from time to time. So, all you need to do in terms of maintenance for this bike is keep it clean and periodically check for loose parts.
