The SereneLife SLFTRD35 is one of the treadmills released in 2018. It’s a machine made for home use similar to the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7724. It has a slightly smaller running surface and fewer programs, but on the other hand, its console connects to the FitShow app. It also has a USB and an SD card port.

Frame construction

The SereneLife SLFTRD35 treadmill is built on a steel frame combining rectangular and oval tubes in its construction. All the tubes are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish, gray in color, this being the only color available for this model. The unit also integrates several plastic parts. For example, the motors cover, the large dashboard that integrates the console, and the side rail covers are made of ABS material.

The SLFTRD35 treadmill is not a very large fitness machine. With all the parts assembled, its footprint is approx. 61″L x 28″W (156 x 74 cm). However, it is recommended to leave at least three feet of clearance at the rear of the deck, and at least two feet of clearance on each side of the treadmill, for easy access and correct usage.

The treadmill has a folding design. Its running platform can be folded up to save space. In folded position, its dimensions are 35.62″L x 28.35″W x 55.90″H (90 x 74 x 142 cm). The folding mechanism uses a hydraulic cylinder, so the deck unfolds slowly to prevent any damage to the floor and to the treadmill.

Although it’s a rather small treadmill, the SLFTRD35 is still a pretty heavy machine. Its net weight is approx. 116 lbs (53 kg). Thus, the transport of the packaged unit requires two people or at least a box trolley. But once it is assembled, it can easily be moved as its front base has transport wheels.

Deck construction and incline

The SereneLife SLFTRD35 doesn’t offer a super large running surface. Its active area is only 47.25L x 16.54W inches (120L x 42W cm), so it may not be the best choice for runners taller than 6’0″ (183 cm). However, for walking, it should be able to accommodate users taller than that. It is also durable enough to support users up to 265 lbs (120 kg).

The belt is multi-layered, featuring a non-slip rubberized and textured top layer. The exact thickness of the rollers is not specified, but for a machine of this size, they’re probably around 1.5″. They have internal sealed ball bearings and a crowned design for a smooth belt motion and improved traction.

The machine’s running platform is cushioned. It has two sets of large cushions visible on each side of the deck, as well as several internal smaller cushions. Plus, the deck board has a bit of flex, so a run or walk on this machine generates considerably less impact on your joints than a run or walk on asphalt or concrete.

The SereneLife SLFTRD35 is equipped with a motorized incline system. In other words, unlike for the SLFTRD25 model, you can adjust the incline during your workout without having to stop the belt. The console can adjust the incline automatically, as well, depending on the selected program.

The maximum incline is 15% and there are 15 levels of incline. You can adjust the incline gradually, either from the arrow buttons on the console, or from the controls integrated into the machine’s left handrail. The console also has controls for pre-set incline adjustment, for 2%, 4%, 8%, and 12%.

Last but not least, the treadmill step-up height is approx. 8″ (20 cm). With the incline set to the 15th level, the front section of the deck will raise by a few inches. Thus, it is recommended to use the machine in a room with a ceiling that is at least 15″ (38 cm) higher than your own height.

Drive motor

The SereneLife SLFTRD35 is an electric treadmill and requires a 110V external power source. It comes with a power cord featuring a U.S. standard plug. The connector for the power cord is at the front of the deck next to the ON/OFF switch. The power cord is approx. 5’10” (178 cm).

The machine is equipped with a 2.5 HP peak power motor designed to provide a decent performance without overheating even if the user is close to the specified maximum weight limit. It is recommended, though, to let the machine rest for at least 10 minutes after every two hours of use.

The machine’s speed range is 0.6 MPH – 10 MPH. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH so you can easily adjust your pace when changing the speed. The console has controls for both gradual and quick speed adjustment. The quick controls are pre-set for 2 MPH, 4 MPH, 6 MPH, and 8 MPH. Also, there are speed controls integrated into the right handrail of the machine.

The unit’s motor doesn’t generate too much noise. However, depending on your running technique, your weight, floor type, running equipment, and other factors, your cadence may generate more or less noise. This being said, people may hear you when using the treadmill, especially during a running routine. But as a general idea, the noise of the motor should not cover the sound of a TV set on a moderate volume level.

Console

The SereneLife SLFTRD35 treadmill is equipped with a multi-function console. It features a 5-inch diagonal LCD display with LED backlight divided into 5 sub-sections. It shows time, speed, distance, pulse, and calories burned. Speed and distance are shown in British Imperial units. The pulse reading function is grip only; the console cannot read pulse from a wireless transmitter.

The console has 12 pre-set workout programs. Each one has its segment grid on the console. As a general idea, the workout types they cover are Warm-Up, Random, 5k Run, Competition, Weight Loss, Hill, Time Goal, Distance Goal, Calories Goal, Mountain Climb, Beach Sport, and Cross Country. It’s also important to mention that programs adjust the speed of the belt in increments of 0.5 MPH, not 0.1 MPH as is the case for the manual gradual incline adjustment.

The console has Bluetooth connectivity and you can sync it with your phone or tablet via the FitShow app. This app is free and available for iOS and Android devices. It offers the possibility to track your progress online, run on a virtual path, see your step count and workout summary, and more.

Among other console features, we can count a set of speakers, a USB charging port, an SD card port, and a device holder. The integrated speakers connect via an AUX port (they are not Bluetooth enabled). The console has basic controls for volume, play/pause, and back/forth. Also, the console dashboard integrates two bottle holders.

Assembly and Maintenance

The base of the treadmill comes pre-assembled. You only need to secure its upright masts vertically with the provided hardware and attach the console. This shouldn’t take more than an hour. All the tools for the task are included, and the manual provides all the necessary assembly instructions.

Once the machine is assembled, maintenance doesn’t require much. The belt may need lubrication after a while. Lubricant is not included (silicone treadmill lubricant should do). Other than this, you just have to keep the treadmill clean, especially the belt, to prevent dirt or textile fibers from being caught in the motor. It’s also recommended to periodically inspect your treadmill, to make sure that all the parts hold tight in their places and it still functions properly.
