Frame construction
The RUNOW 6631CA treadmill features a pretty sturdy construction. It’s built on a steel frame coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is light gray, this being the only color available for this machine.
Of course, this RUNOW treadmill also integrates several non-metallic parts in its construction. For example, the motor cover, the covers of the side rails, and the casing of the console are made from a durable ABS material.
The machine is fairly heavy. Its net weight is 194 lbs (88 kg), so the packaged unit requires two persons for transport. However, once it is assembled, it can be moved rather easily by only one person. That’s because its front base frame is equipped with a set of transport wheels. The rear feet of the deck also rest on wheels.
The treadmill is fairly large. With all the parts assembled, it is approx. 70″ (178 cm) long, and 34″ (83 cm) wide. Plus, it is recommended to leave at least 24″ (61 cm) of clearance on each side of the deck, and at least 36″ (91 cm) of clearance at the rear, for safe usage and easy access.
Like most other treadmills in this feature range, the RUNOW 6631CA has a folding design. The deck can be folded up to save some space. With the deck folded up, the machine’s footprint becomes approx. 46″L x 34″W (117 x 83 cm). Also, the folding mechanism consists of a hydraulic cylinder. This allows the deck to lower slowly when it is unfolded, to prevent damage to the treadmill or to your floor.
Incline system
The RUNOW 6631CA treadmill is equipped with a motorized incline system. This means that the machine needs to be connected to a power source if you want to change the incline. Needless to say, you can adjust the incline as you run, without having to pause your workout. Also, some of the console programs can adjust the incline automatically.
The unit’s incline system consists of two metallic lifting arms placed under the front section of the deck, and a motor (different from the drive motor). This being said, when you adjust the incline (or when the console automatically adjusts the incline), the motor moves the lift which elevates the front of the deck.
The machine offers a standard incline range of 0% – 15%. The console features buttons for gradual incline adjustment, but also has four buttons for quick incline adjustment. These allow you to quickly set the incline to 3%, 6%, 9%, or 12%, without having to press the gradual adjustment button multiple times.
Deck construction and running surface
This RUNOW treadmill is equipped with a cushioned deck. It features two large cushions (one on each side of the deck) similar to the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7820. It also integrates several smaller cushions that are concealed by the side rail covers. All these reduce the impact of the ride which results in less workout-related joint and back pain.
The machine’s belt is also cushioned. It’s a 7-layer belt with an anti-slip textured top layer. The inner layers add to the overall shock absorption. And finally, the bottom layer is designed for superior traction.
The size of the internal rollers is not specified. However, given the size of the machine and the dimensions of the running surface, they’re probably around 2″ (5 cm) in diameter. They have a crowded design to provide superior traction. They also integrate high-quality sealed ball bearings for a smooth belt movement.
The treadmill offers a fairly spacious running surface. It is 55″ (140 cm) long, and 20″ (51 cm) wide. This being said, the machine should be able to accommodate users up to 6’4″ (193 cm) with no problem, allowing a complete leg extension. Also, the deck is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 287 lbs (130 kg), which is not bad for a home-use treadmill.
Last but not least, the deck step-up height is approx. 7″ (18 cm). However, with the incline set to maximum, the front of the deck adds a few extra inches. Therefore, it is recommended to place and use this treadmill in a room with a ceiling that is at least 15″ (38 cm) higher than the taller user.
Drive motor
Unlike the RUNOW 6310CB treadmill, the RUNOW 6631CA is an electric treadmill. This means you will need to connect it to a power source in order to adjust the speed of the belt and change the incline. A power cord is included with the machine. The connector for it is at the front of the deck and next to it there is an On/Off switch.
The machine is equipped with a 3.5 HP motor which is not bad for a home-use treadmill. It offers a speed range of 0.6 – 12.6 MPH which should suffice for most users. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH, so you can adapt your pace with ease.
The unit’s console offers controls for both gradual and quick speed adjustments. The quick speed controls allow you to select 2 MPH, 4 MPH, 7 MPH, and 9 MPH with the push of a button, without having to keep one of the + / – pressed. However, even if you select a pre-set speed level, the belt will still adjust the speed gradually, so you can easily adapt your pace.
The motor itself is not too loud; therefore, when in use, the machine itself does not generate too much noise. However, depending on your weight, running gear, running technique, floor type, and other factors, your cadence may generate more or less noise. So, as a general idea, people will hear definitely hear you especially if you will be running at 7-8 or more miles per hour.
Console
The RUNOW 6631CA treadmill is equipped with a mid-range console. It features an LCD display with blue LED backlight. Its display is divided into 6 sub-sections in order to show up to 6 workout metrics at once, so you won’t have to use a scan function to rotate them. It indicates time, speed, distance, calories, and pulse, whole the larger top-right section shows various messages and the workout program data.
Speed and distance can be set either to imperial or metric units. The pulse reading function is grip only, though. In order for the console to read your pulse, you will have to hold on to the metallic sensors integrated into the front handgrips of the machine. The console cannot be paired with a wireless heart rate monitor.
The console has multiple workout programs. To begin with, it has a Manual program which offers the possibility to manually make adjustments to the speed and incline as you run. Next, there are 36 pre-set programs with their segment layouts indicated on the console (18 on each side of the display). These cover multiple types of workouts; some have an interval layout, others will gradually increase or decrease the speed and incline, while others focus on helping you burn more calories.
The console also has 3 custom user programs, 1 heart rate program, and 3 workout goal functions. For each custom program, you can select speed, incline, and duration; so, if you don’t like any of the pre-set programs, you can always craft your own. The heart rate program adjusts the speed of the belt depending on your heart rate. If you select a certain HR range, it will increase the speed if your HR falls under it, and will decrease the speed if your HR exceeds it. And finally, the console also allows you to set a workout target for time, distance, or calories burned. If a target is selected, the console will countdown from the selected target until it reaches zero.
The console does not have online connectivity. It is not compatible with any fitness apps. However, it does have a set of speakers with Bluetooth connectivity. Thus, you can sync the console with your phone and play your favorite music through the machine’s speakers for a more balanced sound.
Assembly and Maintenance
As is the case for most other treadmills, the deck with the motors and all the other elements comes pre-assembled. You only need to attach the two upright bars and the console with the handrails. This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes. All the tools are included and the manual provides clear step-by-step assembly instructions.
For maintenance, it is recommended to periodically lubricate the deck. Standard silicone lubricant for treadmills should do for this task. Also, you should keep the machine clean, especially the belt, and check for loose bolts and parts on a regular basis.
