The Leikefitness LEIKE X 2200 can be compared in terms of features with the Sunny Health & Fitness XL SF-B2721. It’s a folding exercise bike featuring a 3-position frame. Therefore it can be used as an upright bike, or as a semi-recumbent bike, while the third position is folded. Needless to say, it’s a stationary bike made for home use, but does offer a fairly decent weight capacity and overall sturdiness.

Frame construction

The Leikefitness LEIKE X bike features an X-type frame. It consists of two main parts, one that supports the seat and the drive system, the other that supports the handlebar assembly and the console. The two parts are connected in the middle and come already attached together.

The bike’s frame is made of steel tubing. It’s fairly durable for a folding exercise bike made for use at home. Leikefitness recommends a maximum weight limit for it of 286 lbs (130 kg). All the steel parts in its construction are coated with a durable corrosion-resistant powder paint finish, while the covers of the drive system are made of heavy-duty ABS plastic material.

As we’ve mentioned above, the bike’s frame can be set to three positions: semi-recumbent, upright, and folded. The seat bar has a stopper vertical bar at the rear with three positions and a knob that allows you to set the bike to the position you want. With the frame set to recumbent, the bike’s footprint is the longest, being 32.6″L x 16″W (83 x 41 cm). However, keep in mind that this is just its footprint; the unit is actually a few inches longer, from the top of the handlebar and all the way to the backrest. This being said, it is recommended to assign a usage area for it of at least 60″L x 50″W (152 x 127 cm).

Similar to other folding exercise bikes, the LEIKE X is a fairly light unit. It only weighs 38.5 lbs (17.4 kg) so it can be carried and assembled by only one person. Also, its front base has a set of small wheels that facilitate its relocation.

The bike does not have adjustable base stabilizers. Both base bars have ABS caps. Therefore, it’s best to be placed and used on a carpet or on a rubber mat.

Seat and handlebars

The LEIKE X 2200 exercise bike is equipped with a large seat designed for improved comfort. The seat pad is made of polyurethane material with a layer of foam padding. It is approx. 14″ (35 cm) wide so it provides plenty of contact surface. Also, its top is contoured for extra comfort.

The backrest is wider than for other similar bikes, such as the XTERRA FB350, for example. It has a thick layer of cushioning and provides excellent lumbar support. It is non-adjustable, but can be folded over the seat so when you fold the bike, it will take less space.

The seat is two-way adjustable (up, down). It has 7 adjustment positions and offers an adjustment span of 29.5″ – 33.5″ (75 – 85 cm). Differently put, the bike can accommodate users between 5’1″ and 6’4″ (155 – 193 cm). Also, as we’ve mentioned above, it can support users up to 286 lbs (130 kg).

The bike is equipped with two sets of handlebars, one attached to the seat, and one to the front section of the frame. Both have rubberized grips for maximum comfort. Both are non-adjustable; however, since the seat handlebars are attached to the seat assembly, they adjust along with the seat.

The front handlebars feature a multi-grip design. They make available a climb grip, an off-road grip, and a standard grip. They also integrate pulse sensors and the included console can track your pulse.

Drive and resistance

The Leikefitness LEIKE X 2200 is equipped with a manual magnetic resistance system. This means you don’t need an adapter for it and you don’t have to connect it to a power outlet. But on the other hand, the bike does not adjust the resistance automatically. Also, the console does not have preset programs.

The bike’s resistance system consists of a magnetic brake that is attached to the tension knob on the front part of the frame through a steel cable. As you turn the knob clockwise, the brake moves closer to the internal flywheel and thus, the pedaling difficulty increases.

There are 10 resistance levels available on this bike, two more than most other similar models. The first levels deliver light resistance, great for recovery training, and warmups. The 10th tension level isn’t too extreme, though. But nonetheless, the difference is noticeable from the first levels. So, it offers the possibility to improve muscle stamina and also achieve a high cardiovascular rate more quickly, if needed.

The weight of the bike’s internal flywheel is not specified. But considering that the overall weight of the unit does not exceed 40 lbs, its flywheel probably weighs less than 10 lbs (4.5 kg). It’s designed to provide a smooth pedaling motion. It’s also bi-directional; therefore, you can pedal in reverse if you want, at the same resistance as when pedaling forward.

The bike is equipped with a belt drive system. This type of transmission adds to the smoothness of the ride. The pedaling motion is also whisper-quiet. Plus, you don’t have to take the covers apart to lubricate it; bikes with a belt drive don’t need any lubrication.

Last but not least, the bike is equipped with a sturdy, 3-piece crankset. The crank arms are similar to the ones in road bikes. They’re approx. 6″ (~160 cm) in length and they’re thicker than for many other upright bikes. However, the bike is not made for spin workouts, so standing on the pedals is not recommended.

The included pedals integrate weight elements which enable them to always turn face-up if you remove your feet from them. The have a non-slip surface and adjustable straps.

Console

As we’ve mentioned above, the LEIKE X 2200 exercise bike is not motorized. Therefore, its console does not have preset workout programs. It also doesn’t have online connectivity. It’s basically just an exercise meter that tracks your workout data.

The console unit features a multi-window LCD display. This means you can view all the workout metrics at once. It shows time, distance, speed, calories, and pulse. However, it’s important to mention that the pulse reading function only applies to the sensors integrated into the front handlebars. The unit does not have an internal wireless HR receiver and cannot read your pulse from a chest strap.

The console unit is quite easy to use. It only has one button. By pressing the button, you can scroll through the workout metrics that you want to view on the top, larger display. This way, you can also select the Scan Mode, which rotates all the metrics showing each one for a few seconds. The button also covers the Reset function for the unit. You can press and hold it for a few seconds to clear all the values to zero.

The console is powered by two AAA batteries which are included. It starts up when you begin pedaling or when you press the button. It also automatically turns off after a few minutes of inactivity to save battery.

Assembly and Maintenance

The two main pieces of the frame come already attached together. The drive and resistance elements are also assembled and protected by the plastic covers. However, you still have to attach the two base bars, the seat, the handlebars, the pedals, and the console. This may take up to an hour of your time, but the task is straightforward. The included manual provides clear assembly instructions and a basic toolkit is also included.

Once the bike is fully setup, you don’t have to worry too much about maintenance. The internal parts shouldn’t need any lubrication for a long period of time. Therefore, you only need to keep the unit clean and periodically check for loose bolts and parts.

  1. I got it for my wife who is 5’6″” and she uses the max height for the seat for full leg extension; I am 6’3″” and it’s nowhere close to full leg extension for me, but still useable.
