The Cycool C1 is a basic indoor cycling bike made for home use. In terms of features, it can be compared with the XtremepowerUS cycle but has a slightly different frame design with straight (not curved bars). Although it’s a light-capacity bike (for users only up to 220 lbs), it’s still a cycle made for spin workouts perfect for any home gym setup.

  • Supported weight: 220 lbs (100 kg)
  • Seat: 4-way adjustable
  • Drive system: Belt

Frame construction

The Cycool C1 indoor cycling bike features a standard triangular frame with precision-welded joints for greater sturdiness. It combines rectangular and oval bars in its construction for improved aesthetics. All the steel frame bars are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The colors used for the main frame are black and blue, while the seat and handlebar posts are painted gray. The flywheel is chrome-plated and is equipped with thermoplastic side panels for extra protection. The drivetrain cover is also made of plastic material.

Like most other spin bikes, the Cycool C1 is not an extremely large fitness machine. It is approx. 46.9″ (119 cm) long, and 21.1″ (53.5 cm) wide. It is recommended to allow at least two feet of clearance all around it for safe usage, though.

The bike is fairly light compared to other spin bikes. With all the parts assembled, it only weighs approx. 53 lbs (24 kg). This being said, it can be carried and assembled by only one person. Once it is assembled, it can easily be moved by using the small wheels integrated into the front stabilizer. Also, the rear stabilizer is equipped with two adjustable levelers.

An important element of the bike’s frame that not all other spin bike models have, is the step-up bar. This is the small horizontal tube that connects the seat tube with the main inclined tube of the frame. It can be used for leg stretches or stepping on and off the frame, an exercise that may be required by certain spin workouts.

Seat and handlebars

The Cycool C1 indoor cycling bike is equipped with a standard bike saddle. Its shell is made of a durable, yet slightly flexible plastic material (probably nylon). It also integrates a thin layer of foam padding. Its attachment system uses a collar with a bolt and nut, thus, it can easily be removed and replaced if needed. Also, since its attachment system is standard, compatible replacements for it are widely available; you should be able to find one in any bike shop, if necessary.

The bike’s seat assembly is four-way adjustable (up, down, front, back). The upright post has multiple adjustment positions while its horizontal slider offers a few extra inches of front-to-back adjustment. This being said, the bike should be able to accommodate comfortably users between 5’0″ and 6’3″ (153 – 190 cm). Also, as we’ve mentioned above, the bike is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 220 lbs (100 kg) which evidently applies to the seat as well.

The Cycool exercise bike is equipped with a multi-grip handlebar. It offers the possibility to adopt a racing grip, a standard grip, and a climbing grip. It has a small loop bar in the middle to which the performance monitor attaches, but can also be used for a close grip. Its side, longer grips have high-density foam sleeves for optimal comfort.

The bike’s handlebar does not have pulse sensors and the included performance monitor cannot read pulse. As opposed to the seat, it is only two-way adjustable (up, down). Its highest point is approx. 43.7″ (111 cm) above floor level. Both the seat and the handlebar tubes feature large knobs easy to grip and turn, so their adjustment is done with ease in less than a minute.

Drive and resistance

The Cycool C1 indoor cycling bike is equipped with a perimeter-weighted flywheel. This type of flywheel construction is designed for improved inertia which is great for spin workouts. The exact weight of the flywheel is not specified, but considering that the total weight of the bike doesn’t exceed 60 lbs, the flywheel is probably around 22 – 28 lbs (10 – 12.7 kg).

The flywheel is bi-directional, meaning that you can pedal in reverse if you want. However, just like for most other spin bikes, coasting is not possible. The pedals continue to spin for as long as the flywheel is spinning.

The bike is equipped with a belt drive system. This means that you don’t have to go through the hassle of monthly lubrication (like a chain drive bike requires). It uses a poly-v belt highly resistant to abrasion and stretching. The belt also generates less vibration than a chain and should provide a slightly smoother ride.

This Cycool exercise bike is equipped with a durable crankset featuring solid steel arms similar to the ones on road bikes. The pedals are caged, so you can perfectly secure your feet on them, if necessary. They do not have SPD elements for spin shoes, but their threads are standard 9/16 so compatible replacements are widely available, if needed.

The bike’s resistance system consists of a felt brake pad connected to the frame above the flywheel and to the tension knob. As you turn the knob clockwise, the brake pad applies more friction to the flywheel which increases the pedaling difficulty. Needless to say, since the bike’s resistance system requires manual action, you don’t need an adapter for the bike.

The brake doesn’t have pre-determined settings. You simply tighten it until you get the desired pedaling difficulty. The knob also has the emergency brake function. You can press it down to immediately stop the flywheel from spinning.

Performance monitor

The Cycool C1 indoor cycle comes with a basic performance monitor. It features an LCD display which indicates time, distance, total distance, speed, and calories burned. It does not integrate a telemetric receiver, so it cannot read your pulse from a wireless chest strap. Also, as we’ve mentioned above, the handlebars do not have pulse sensors. So, in case you want to monitor your pulse during your workouts, you will have to use a separate device.

The monitor unit is very easy to use. It only has one button. By pressing it repeatedly, you can select any of the workout metrics to view on the display, or you can select the Scan Mode which rotates all the metrics, showing each one for a few seconds. If you press and hold the button for a few seconds, you can reset all the metrics to zero. There are no preset programs, and you cannot select targets for time or distance.

The monitor unit begins calculating distance, calories, etc., when you begin pedaling or when you push its button. It also has a sleep mode to which will enter after a few minutes of inactivity on the bike.

Assembly and Maintenance

The bike’s main frame comes pre-assembled. The flywheel, the magnetic brake, the crankset, and the belt are already attached to the frame. You only have to add the two base bars, the seat post, the saddle, the handlebar post, the handlebar, the pedals, and the performance monitor. This shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes of your time. The task is pretty straightforward, the manual provides step-by-step assembly instructions, and all the necessary tools are included.

Since the bike has a belt drive system, its transmission does not require lubrication. In fact, once the unit is assembled, it doesn’t require too much maintenance at all. You just need to keep it clean and periodically inspect it to make sure that all the parts function properly.
