Frame construction

The Reebok A6.0 treadmill is built on a steel frame. All the steel parts in its construction are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The base frame is painted black, while the two upright bars that sustain the console are black/silver. The incline lift has a red paint finish. These are the only colors available for this machine.

The treadmill also integrates several plastic parts. The most notable ones are the side rail covers, the motor cover, the console casing and dashboard, and several other small covers. These are made from a durable thermoplastic polymer. They’re all black to fit the color theme of the machine.

The treadmill is pretty heavy. Its net weight is approx. 206 lbs (93.5 kg). Therefore, the transport of the packaged unit requires two persons. However, once the machine is assembled, it can easily be moved by only one person. The front base section of the frame has transport wheels that facilitate its relocation.

The Reebok A6.0 is not as large as commercial treadmills, but it’s still a fairly large machine. Its net footprint is approx. 69″L x 33″W (176 x 84 cm). Also, Reebok recommends leaving a clearance of at least 78″ (2 m) on each side and at the rear of the deck for easy access and safe usage.

Last but not least, this Reebok treadmill is foldable. Its deck folds up which can be a plus not only for the space-saving possibilities but also for cleaning under the deck with ease. Its folded dimensions are 47.8″L x 33.1″W x 60″H (121.5 x 84 x 152.5 cm). The folding mechanism uses a hydraulic cylinder that slowly lowers the deck to prevent floor damage.

Deck construction

The Reebok A6.0 treadmill features a sturdier deck than the Reebok Jet models. It is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 330 lbs (150 kg) which is quite impressive for a home-use machine. It offers a running area of 55″L x 19.7″W (140 x 50 cm) so it should be able to accommodate users up to 6’3″ (190 cm) with no problem. Taller persons should still be able to use this machine but they may not benefit from a complete range of motion when running at a high speed.

The machine is equipped with a multi-layered belt. The top layer is textured and rubberized in order to provide a non-slip contact for any type of athletic shoe. The inner layers add to the overall shock absorption of the deck. And finally, the bottom layer is made from a polymer designed to stick better to the rollers. The belt comes pre-lubricated but does require periodic lubrication.

The exact size of the internal rollers is not specified. They are tapered, in order to provide a better grip on the belt and to also prolong the lifespan of the belt. They integrate high-grade ball bearings for a smooth motion.

Similar to the Reebok A2.0 that we’ve already covered here, the A6.0 is equipped with the Astroride cushioning system. This consists of a set of cylindrical cushions concealed by the side rail covers, as well as a set of two large silicone cushions visible on each side of the running platform. They reduce a considerable percentage of the overall footstrike impact resulting in a more comfortable run.

Incline system

The Reebok A6.0 treadmill is equipped with a power incline system. In other words, its incline system is motorized. This means that the machine needs to be connected to a power source to operate the incline. Also, the console will automatically adjust the incline if one of the pre-set programs is in use.

The unit’s incline system consists of a lift assembly and a motor (different from the drive motor). Therefore, when you adjust the incline from the console, or when the console automatically adjusts the incline, the motor moves the lift, elevating or lowering the front part of the deck.

The machine offers 15 levels of incline. The console features controls for gradual incline adjustment but it also has pre-set incline buttons. The pre-set buttons give you the possibility to quickly select incline levels 3, 6, 9, and 12.

Drive motor

The Reebok A6.0 is an electric treadmill. Therefore, it requires an external power source to function. A power cord with a US standard plug is included with the machine. The cable is approx. 60″ (152 cm). The connector for the power cord is at the front base of the machine, next to an ON/OFF switch.

The treadmill integrates a 2.5 HP (peak power) motor designed to provide a constant high-performance even if used for a full marathon, without overheating. It is also equipped with a small flywheel for improved motion stability.

The machine’s motor offers a speed range between 0 and 12.4 MPH. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH so you can easily adjust your pace. The speed can be adjusted either gradually, or from the +/- buttons on the console. There also are pre-set controls for 4 kmh, 8 kmh, 12 kmh, and 16 kmh (2.4, 5, 7.5, 10 mph).

The noise generated by the motor is not too high. However, depending on your weight, running technique, running gear, room resonance, floor type, and other factors, your cadence may generate more or less noise.

Console

The Reebok A6.0 treadmill comes with a multi-function console. It features a LED display divided into five windows. The four bottom windows show time/incline, speed, distance, and calories/pulse. The larger top window shows the program profiles and other console messages. Speed and distance can be set either to Imperial or Metric units. The console can read your pulse if you hold on to the sensors integrated into the front handlebars but also from a wireless HR chest strap.

The console has quite an impressive workout program database. First of all, it has the Manual Program (P0) which allows you to adjust the speed and incline as you like while the console does not make any automatic adjustments. If this program is in use, you can also set workout goals for time, distance, and calories.

The P1-P36 are pre-set programs. They have various profiles and adjust both the speed and the incline. The default duration for each program is 30 minutes but this can be adjusted. Each program has 16 segments.

Next, there are three HRC programs and three user-defined programs. The HRC programs (HR1, HR2, HR3) adjust the speed and the incline based on the selected heart rate range. The user-defined programs (U01, U02, U03) give three users the possibility to create, save, and re-use their own custom programs. A Body Fat function is also available; this allows the computer to calculate your body fat percentage based on your weight, height, sex, and age.

The console is also Bluetooth-enabled and compatible with the Reebok fitness app. This app gives you the possibility to track your progress online, as well as run on virtual paths based on Google Maps. And finally, among other console features, we can count two integrated speakers, a USB charging port, a cooling fan, and a device holder.

Assembly and Maintenance

The machine’s running platform with the motors and the incline system comes pre-assembled. Thus, for the assembly, you only need to attach the two upright bars, the console dashboard with the two handrails and front handlebars, the console, and several other small covers. This shouldn’t take more than an hour. The manual provides step-by-step assembly instruction, and all the necessary tools are included.

For maintenance, belt lubrication is necessary. The manual also provides instructions on how to lubricate it. Other than this, you just have to keep the belt clean and periodically check for loose bolts and parts.
