If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to a club-grade spin bike, the Yosuda L-007 is definitely one to put on your list. It’s a well-built indoor cycling bike, equipped with a friction resistance system. It’s in the same range of features as the pooboo D519; however, it has a considerably heavier flywheel and a more aesthetic frame construction.

Frame construction

The core frame of the Yosuda L-007 indoor cycling bike is made of steel tubing. However, it also incorporates several ABS parts in its construction. For example, the belt cover and the brake cover are made of a durable ABS material. These being said, the bike is designed to support a maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs (136 kg).

All the steel tubes in the bike’s frame are ovalized for improved aesthetics but also for improved sturdiness. The base bars are V-shaped in order to deliver extra stability. Plus, they’re both equipped with adjustable levelers which offer the possibility to perfectly stabilize the unit on any type of floor. They also have rubberized pads to prevent floor damage.

The bike’s core frame is coated with a corrosion-resistant and chip-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, with the “Yosuda” logo painted white. The only exceptions are the seat post, the handlebar post, and the flywheel. These are all chrome-plated.

This Yosuda exercise bike isn’t extremely large compared to other fitness machines. It is 42.2″ (107 cm) long and 21.7″ (55 cm) wide, while its maximum height (with the handlebar extended all the way up) is 47.7″ (121 cm). Of course, it is recommended to leave at least two feet of clearance around it for ease of access and unhindered usage.

Despite its heavy flywheel, this exercise bike is a bit lighter than other models. For example, the Spinner Johnny G which has only a 40 lbs (18 kg) flywheel, weighs 116 lbs (52.6 kg). The Yosuda bike only weighs approx. 88 lbs (40 kg). However, it still is more than two times heavier than the average road bike, and all this weight provides excellent stability. Once the bike is fully assembled, its transport can easily be done via the wheels integrated into its front base. Thus, its weight shouldn’t be a problem when it comes to relocation.

Seat and handlebars

The Yosuda L-007 exercise bike includes a comfort saddle, similar to the one included to the Efitment IC028. To begin with, it is a fairly large saddle compared to most spin seats, being 10.6″ (27 cm) long, and 7.9″ (20 cm) wide. This being said, it provides plenty of contact surface. It integrates a thick layer of foam padding, especially in its rear section. Plus, it has two suspension springs at the rear which not only improve shock absorption, they also allow the seat to bend slightly as you pedal.

The seat has a standard, collar-based attachment system to its post. So, in case you will ever need to replace it, compatible options are widely available.

The seat offers 4-way adjustability. Its upright post offers a 7-inch (17.7 cm) adjustment span, between 34.6″ (87.8 cm) and 41.8″ (106 cm). Plus, its horizontal slider offers several inches of front to back adjustment. So, as a small conclusion here, the seat should be able to accommodate users between 5’0″ (153 cm) and 6’5″ (196 cm) with no problem, allowing a full range of motion for any user in this height range.

The bike’s handlebar has a fairly simple design. It lacks an aero bar element and also does not have drop-down grips as the SNODE 8729. It is square-shaped and offers the possibility to adopt four grips, including standard and parallel grip.

The whole handlebar assembly is covered by a layer of foam to provide a superior grip and optimal comfort. It does not have any pulse sensors, and the bike does not have a pulse reading function. It is only 2-way adjustable (up, down), and offers an adjustment span of approx. 12″ (30.5 cm), between 35.8″ (91 cm) and 47.7″ (121 cm).

Drive and resistance

As we’ve mentioned above, the Yosuda L-007 is equipped with 43 lbs (19.5 kg) flywheel. This is a bit heavier than the average flywheel of most spin bikes which typically have a 40 lbs (18 kg) flywheel. It has a perimeter-weighted design in order to provide enhanced inertia and extra stability during pedaling. Thus, the pedaling motion is very smooth.

The bike’s flywheel permits pedaling in reverse. However, coasting is not possible. When pedaling in reverse, you will meet the same resistance as when pedaling forward. Also, the pedals continue to spin for as long the flywheel is spinning.

The bike’s drivetrain uses a heavy-duty v-belt. Therefore, the pedaling motion is very quiet and vibration-free. Plus, it does not require lubrication as a chain drive.

The crankset is extremely sturdy. It features solid steel crank arms and metallic pedals. It can hold users up to 300 lbs (136 kg) in complete standing up position, and for any spin workout. The pedals are equipped with toe cages but do not have SPD clips for spin shoes. However, they do have standard 9/16″ threads, so replacements for them are widely available.

The Yosuda L-007 bike features a standard friction resistance system. It is equipped with a felt brake pad attached to the tension knob on top of the frame. In order to adjust the resistance, you have to rotate the knob to tighten or untighten the pad onto the flywheel. The tension knob also works as an emergency brake. You can press it down to stop the flywheel from spinning which may actually be necessary if you have been pedaling at a very high speed and need to stop.

The bike’s resistance system does not have any pre-determined settings or “clicks” like most bikes with a magnetic resistance have. You simply turn the knob until you get the resistance you feel comfortable with. As a general idea, the knob can be tightened up to the point you can barely pedal.

Exercise meter

This Yosuda exercise bike is equipped with a basic fitness meter. It features an LCD display and only one button that covers all its functions. It tracks the most important workout metrics, including time, distance, total distance, speed, and calories. It does not have and preset programs or goal setting functions. It also does not have a pulse reading function. Therefore, in case you need to monitor your heart rate during your cycling sessions, you will have to use a separate device.

The meter unit is very easy to use. By pressing the button repeatedly, you can select any of the workout metrics to be shown on the display. Or, you can select the Scan Mode which rotates all the values, keeping each one on the display for a few seconds. Also, by pressing and holding the button for a few seconds you can clear all the values on it to zero.

The meter unit requires 2 AAA batteries which are included with the bike. To start it up, you can either press the button or begin pedaling. It also has a sleep mode to which it will enter after a few minutes of inactivity on the bike.

Assemble and Maintenance

The main body of the bike comes pre-assembled. Therefore, you only have to add the two base bars, the seat post, the saddle, the handlebar post, the handlebar, the exercise meter, and the pedals. This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes. A basic toolkit is included. Also, the manual provides clear assembly instructions.

For maintenance, the bike’s brake pad may require lubrication with a bit of silicone lubricant. Since the transmission is belt-based, it does not need any lubrication. It is also recommended to periodically check for loose bolts and parts, and keep the unit clean.

    1. Couldn’t find any information about the manufacturer. Sorry. However, some of the parts (like pedals, seat, belt etc) are standard. You should be able to find something similar and compatible with the bike in most bike shops.
