However, its moving arms only have horizontal grips and the seat lacks the horizontal slider, but the bike offers a slightly superior weight capacity.

Frame construction

The Stamina Airgometer 15-1100 features a pretty sturdy construction. It’s built on a steel frame combining oval, rectangular, and cylindrical tubing. All the tubes are double-coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is dark gray, this being the only color available for this bike.

The unit also integrates several non-metallic parts. For example, the drivetrain guards, the fan, monitor casing, and several other small parts are made from various thermoplastic materials.

The bike is not too large. With all the parts assembled, it is approx. 49″ (124 cm) long, and 23″ (58 cm) wide. It is recommended, though, to assign a usage area for this bike of at least 6’L x 4’W (183 x 122 cm) for easy access and safe usage.

The bike is not super-heavy. Its net weight is 82 lbs (37 kg), so its transport may require two persons. However, once it’s fully assembled, it can easily be relocated by only one person, as its front base features a set of transport wheels. Also, the rear stabilizer is equipped with polygonal caps; these also rotate and can serve as floor levelers.

Seat and handlebars

The Stamina 15-1100 air bike is equipped with a seat designed for optimal comfort. As we’ve mentioned above, it does not have a front-to-back adjustment feature. It is only two-way adjustable (up, down). Its upright post has several adjustment positions, so the bike should be able to accommodate users between 5’0″ and 6’3″ (153 – 190 cm). It is also rated for a maximum user weight limit of 300 lbs (136 kg).

The included saddle is a pretty standard one. It’s built on a durable nylon shell. It has a layer of foam padding, and a cover made of durable vinyl material. It doesn’t have the median cropping like a race saddle. It also does not have suspension springs. And finally, the seat adjustment post is finished with a trapezoid plate to which the saddle attaches via four screws. This being said, in case you will ever need to replace it, a compatible option may not be easy to find.

The bike does not have fixed handlebars like a spin bike, or a regular upright bike. It only has the two moving arms. These have a pretty simple design with a set of horizontal grips featuring PVC foam sleeves.

The bike’s moving arms connect to the pedals bars. Therefore, they will move for as long as you pedal. You cannot lock them to remain stationary. They also do not have pulse sensors or other types of controls.

Resistance system

As its name suggests, the Stamina Airgometer exercise bike is equipped with an air resistance system. It does not have any other additional resistance adjustment elements. It also isn’t motorized, so you don’t need a power adapter or power cord for it.

The main resistance generator is the large fan visible at the front of the bike. The fan is connected to the bike’s pulley system and spins inside its metallic cage when you pedal or when you move the bike’s arms. Similar to other fitness machines with an air resistance system, the Stamina 15-1100 bike delivers a dynamic response. This means that the generated resistance is related to your RPM. In other words, the faster you pedal, the more resistance you will get.

Compared to other fitness machines that have an air resistance system, this Stamina exercise bike is not very noisy. If you pedal or work the arms at a low RPM, the bike barely generates any noise. Conversely, if you engage in a high-intensity cardio training session, the fan will spin faster, and will generate some noise. But as a general idea, the noise level can be compared to the one of a large electric fan.

Drive system

The Stamina Airgometer 15-1100 exercise bike is equipped with a belt drive system. It uses a poly-v ribbed belt that connects the fan to the bike’s pulley. The belt drive comes with a few advantages over a chain drive. For example, you won’t need to take the drivetrain guards apart to lubricate the belt (it doesn’t need any lubrication). It also generates slightly less vibration than a chain, so the pedaling motion is smoother.

The bike’s crankset uses a pulley made from a durable thermoplastic material (or nylon). The crank arms are made of steel and have a flattened design. They’re pretty durable, but since the bike is not meant for spin workouts, it is not recommended to stand up on the pedals, even if they hold you. This may lead to damage to the crankset.

The pedals included with the bike are also made of thermoplastic material. They have a textured surface and weight elements in order to self-level if you remove your feet from them. They do not have straps or toe cages.

Finally, the bike also has a set of fixed pedals, or footrests. They have a similar construction to the mobile pedals, without the weight elements. They attach to the base sections of the moving arms and can serve as support for your feet if you want to only use the arms of the bike, without pedaling.

Fitness monitor

The Stamina Airgometer bike is equipped with a pretty basic fitness monitor. It features an LCD display that tracks time, speed, distance, and calories burned. It does not have a pulse reading function. Speed and distance are shown in British Imperial units (MPH, miles) and cannot be set to metric units.

The monitor unit does not have pre-set programs or online connectivity, and it is not compatible with any fitness apps. However, it offers the possibility to set workout goals for time, distance, and calories. If a goal is set for any of these metrics, the monitor will count down from the selected value until it reaches zero. There is also a scan mode. In scan mode, the monitor rotates the four metrics showing each one for four seconds.

The monitor unit features three buttons. These are Set, Mode, and Reset. The Set button covers the goal-setting function. The Mode button allows you to select the workout metric that you want to view on the display or the scan mode. The Reset button clears all the values on the display to zero.

The monitor unit is battery-powered. It requires two AA batteries which are not included. It starts monitoring your data when it detects flywheel movement. It automatically turns off if it doesn’t detect any activity on the bike for more than four minutes.

Assembly and Maintenance

The main body of the bike with the fan, crankset, and belt comes pre-assembled. You only need to attach the two base bars, the support bar for the monitor, the monitor, the seat, the two moving arms, the pedals, and the footrests. This shouldn’t take more than an hour of your time. The manual provides clear assembly instructions with schematics, and a basic toolkit is also included.

Since it’s a belt bike, its transmission doesn’t require any lubrication. All you have to do for maintenance is remove the dust that may accumulate on the flywheel and its cage, and periodically check for loose bolts and parts.
