The RH Fitness HOME ONE is an electric treadmill made for home use. It’s a fold-flat treadmill similar up to a point to the LifePro Electrostride, but features a larger console with Bluetooth speakers. It doesn’t have a super powerful motor (only 1 HP) but it does offer a fairly decent performance and speed settings up to 7.5 MPH.

Frame construction

The RH Fitness HOME ONE features a pretty sturdy and heavy construction for a small home-use treadmill. Its frame is made of aluminum alloy painted black. Of course, the unit integrates several plastic parts as well. For example, the motor cover, the side rail covers, and the console casing are made from a durable thermoplastic material.

The machine is not too large but does have a footprint of approx. 57.4″L x 29.5″W (146 x 75 cm), so it may not fit too well in a small room or apartment, especially if you consider the required side-to-side clearance of two feet, and a clearance of at least three feet at the rear of the deck. Also, the console is waist-high; it reaches approx. 38″ (96.5 cm) above the floor when in a horizontal position. If lifted up, its highest point is approx. 41″ (105 cm) above the floor level.

One of the best aspects with regards to the RH Fitness HOME ONE treadmill is that it can be folded flat. Its two upright bars feature four hydraulic cylinders, two that also attach to the treadmill’s deck, while the other two that also connect to the console. Each cylinder has a latch so you can lock it into position. So, when you unlock all of them, you can fold it flat and store it under the bed or against a wall. When folded flat, its height reaches only approx. 5″ (12 cm) so it should fit in pretty narrow spaces.

The unit’s base features six floor contact points. Its front base integrates four transport wheels. Two wheels are meant for moving the machine front and back, the other two are for moving it sideways, when folded and in a vertical position.

Last but not least, the HOME ONE treadmill is not super heavy but does weigh approx. 99 lbs (45 kg). So, when packaged, its transport may require two people. However, once it is removed from its package it can easily be moved by only one person via its integrated transport wheels.

Deck construction

The RH Fitness HOME ONE treadmill features a pretty sturdy deck. It is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 242 lbs (110 kg). The deck integrates four cushioning elements but it is also very flexible so not only that it absorbs a lot of the workout impact on your joints, it is also less likely to break or sustain damage even if the user is close to the maximum weight capacity.

The machine is equipped with a multi-layer belt featuring a top layer designed for a superior grip. The internal rollers are not very thick in diameter but they do have a crowned shape for improved traction and to prolong the lifespan of the belt. They also have industrial-grade built-in ball bearings for a smooth motion.

The treadmill offers a running surface of 49.8″L x 18.8″W inches (126L x 48W cm). It’s pretty short in comparison with the active area offered by most commercial treadmills. However, considering that the machine only offers a maximum speed level of 7.5 MPH, it should be enough even for users up to 6’0-6’1″ (183 – 185 cm). Taller persons should still be able to use this machine but they may not benefit from a complete stride when running at full speed.

The RH HOME ONE treadmill does not have an incline system. It’s also not recommended to place anything under the deck in order to give it an incline, as it may damage its internal components. Since it’s a very slim treadmill, the tread belt is only approx. 4″ (10 cm) above the floor level. Therefore, ceiling height shouldn’t be an issue.

Motor and speed range

As we’ve mentioned above, the RH Fitness HOME ONE treadmill doesn’t have a super powerful motor. Its incorporated drive motor only offers 1 HP (750 W). It is approx. 3.7″ (9.3 cm) in diameter and has a built-in flywheel as well for improved motion stability. Also, even though it’s not a very powerful motor, it provides a fairly decent performance and should be able to run smoothly and without any problem for several hours.

The machine’s motor provides a speed range between 0.5 MPH and 7.5 MPH. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH, so you can easily adjust your pace. The console features buttons for gradual speed adjustment and quick speed adjustment. The quick speed adjustment buttons offer the possibility to select 1 MPH, 3 MPH, 5 MPH, and 7 MPH without having to hold the Speed Up / Speed Down buttons. It is important to mention though, that even if you change the speed of the belt from one of the quick speed adjustment buttons, the transition from a speed level to another is still smooth, allowing you to adapt your pace.

The RH Fitness HOME ONE treadmill is not too noisy. At maximum speed, it generates approx. 52 dB. However, depending on your weight, running technique, footwear, and other factors, your cadence may generate more or less noise. So, this being said, it is not whisper-quiet; it will be definitely heard when in motion.

Since it’s an electric treadmill it comes with a power cord. The power cord attaches to the front section of the deck. It has a standard US plug. There is also an On/Off switch near the connection port of the power cable.

Console

The RH Fitness HOME ONE treadmill is equipped with a minimalistic console. It has an LED display type that indicates speed, time, steps, distance, calories, and pulse. Speed and distance are shown in MPH and miles; there is no option for setting them to metric units unless you opt for the non-US treadmill version which has speed and distance shown in km/h and kilometers by default. The pulse reading function is grip contact only. The console is not telemetric, so in order to read your pulse, you have to keep your hands on the sensors integrated into the side grips of the machine.

The treadmill does not have pre-set workout programs or online connectivity. It is not compatible with any fitness apps. Therefore, it cannot adjust the speed automatically. There is a Pause button that allows you to put your workout on hold for one minute. It the pause exceeds one minute, the existent workout data will be reset to zero.

The console display has an angle-adjustment function; you can have it in a horizontal position or upright. The console integrates a set of Bluetooth speakers so you can sync it with your smartphone and play your music through them. There is also a USB port and an AUX port at the top of the console so you can connect your device via cable.

Finally, the magnetic key that automatically stops the belt from spinning doesn’t have a cord with a clip to it, so you cannot attach it to your clothing. However, you can press it down to immediately stop the belt.

Assembly and Maintenance

The RH Fitness HOME ONE treadmill comes completely assembled. You only have to unbox it, unfold it, attach the power cord, plug it in, and you’re ready to go. The manual provides all the necessary instructions for this.

For maintenance, the belt requires periodic lubrication but shouldn’t need any lubrication before the first use. The treadmill does not come with any lubricant, but standard silicone treadmill oil should be used when lubrication is needed. Other than this, it is recommended to keep the machine clean, especially the belt, and periodically check for loose parts.
