Gliders or “air walkers” are a little bit different from the elliptical machines which integrate a resistance system. On most air walkers, your workout is based solely on the elliptical motion, very few offer a way to add resistance to your workout. But on the other hand, most air walkers offer a “full-range” stride, thus offering the possibility for a full stride stretch even to some of the tallest users.

One of the newest gliders released in 2016 is the PeoGear Dual Action 360. This model is not just your average glider, as it offers something different than simpler models such as the Gazelle Edge, for example. This machine offers the possibility to also rotate your legs laterally, not just front-to-back, and this way, you can diversify your workouts.

Frame

To begin with, the ProGear Dual Action 360 features a folding frame. Its base folds up and locks to the handlebar post, reducing its footprint considerably. When fully assembled and unfolded, it has a footprint of 34″L x 20″W (86 x 51 cm), while when folded, its length is reduced to 17″ (43 cm). Its height remains the same, at 52″ (132 cm).

With the frame folded, the machine is easy to move, as it weighs only 45 lbs (20.4 kg), and its front base integrates caster wheels. When folded, this glider is meant to be stored vertically. Also, in case you’re wondering, it probably won’t fit under a bed, as the bed must have a minimum of 17″ clearance underneath. However, it should fit in most closets as it doesn’t take too much space when stored vertically.

Most parts of the frame are made of 2.75″ steel tubing, being rated for users up to 225 lbs (102 kg). However, users up to 20 lbs heavier have reported to have been using this machine with no problem. All steel parts are dyed with anti-corrosive enamel, black for the bases and front post, and silver for the legs of the machine. Both bases feature rubberized and sizeable stabilizers, thus it shouldn’t rattle or move during a more intense workout.

As we’ve mentioned above, the machine’s legs are designed to rotate 180° outward. This particular aspect gives you the possibility to diversify your workouts by a lot, focusing the glutes and hip muscles. The foot pads are 15″ (38 cm) long, offering enough space to accommodate sports shoes of all sizes. They’re made of heavy-duty nylon material, which should withstand much more weight than the specified max. user weight. They also feature a ribbed surface to prevent foot slippage during workouts. The foot pads don’t have articulation or suspensions, but for this glider features like this aren’t necessary, as the impact on the joints is almost inexistent.

This glider offers a stride of 36″ (91.4 cm). This means it can provide a full stride motion even for tall users. Even though the machine is rated for users between 4’10” and 6’0″ users (122 – 183 cm), even taller users should be able to workout on it with no problem. The only downside in this case is the placement of the fixed bars, which a tall user may consider too low.

Even though this air walker features a rather small footprint, due to its rather long stride, it requires at least 2′ (61 cm) of clearance at the rear and front, and at least 1′ (31 cm) on each side.

Finally, the ProGear 360 air walker features multi-grip handlebars, both mobile and fixed. They’re consistently covered in rubber-foam material, in order to provide all the comfort required. The fixed handlebars also integrate stainless steel pulse sensors. Therefore, the fitness meter can also track your pulse.

Drive and resistance

Even though this machine is called an “air walker”, this doesn’t mean that it features an air-based resistance system, such as the Body Rider BR1830 elliptical for example. The term comes from the fact that the walking motion on this machine is impact-free, resembling walking on air. On top of that, using this machine generates almost no noise whatsoever. Thus, it’s perfect for apartment use.

The ProGear 360 doesn’t integrate a flywheel or any other mobile parts like elliptical trainers. However, its joints do integrate industrial quality, sealed ball bearings, which are designed to last for many years of daily use.

As we’ve mentioned above, the machine doesn’t have a resistance system. However, you can add intensity to your workouts in various ways. For example, you can lean forward or backward during the walking motion, or adopt a squating position. Simple posture adjustments of this sort will generate quite a burn on various groups of muscles.

Fitness meter

The ProGear Dual Action 360 glider comes with a basic fitness meter. Actually, it’s a little above “basic”, since it can also monitor pulse. There are other types of meters which do not have this feature.

The fitness meter can track the following values: distance, calories, time, step count, and pulse. You can select any of these readouts to be displayed on the screen at all time, or you can use the SCAN function which cycles through all of them, displaying each one on the screen for several seconds, then moving to the next and so on.

The console is extremely easy to use. It has only one (MODE) button, which covers all of its functions. By pressing the button the console will be powered on, however it’s also powered on when it detects movement on the machine. By pressing it multiple times you can cycle through the values, and by pressing and holding it, you will reset all values.

The console uses 2 AA-type batteries which are included.

Assembly and Maintenance

This glider machine is extremely easy to assemble. In fact, approx. 90% of it comes fully assembled. The frame is package in folded position. All you have to do is unbox it, unfold it, and connect the console. The whole task shouldn’t require more than 15 min. Plus, there’s a manual that will guide you though the assembly, use and maintenance steps.

Maintenance doesn’t require much either. You basically have to keep the machine clean, and wipe the sweat that may drop on the frame after each workout. Also, just as any machine with mobile joints, they may develop squeaks over time, problem which can easily be fixed with some grease.
