The JEEKEE recumbent bike is a pretty standard exercise bike made for home use. In terms of features and design, it can be compared with the pooboo W669. However, it offers a better maximum user weight limit.

Frame construction

The JEEKEE recumbent bike features a pretty sturdy frame made of cylindrical tubing. The only visible rectangular tubes are the adjustment rail of the seat and the seat frame tubes. All the steel bars in the bike’s construction are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this bike (at least for the moment).

The bike’s frame consists of two main pieces, the one that holds the seat, and the front part that supports the drive and resistance unit, and the fitness monitor. The base bars of the two pieces connect in the middle via several screws.

The bike’s drive and resistance unit features large covers made from a durable thermoplastic material. They’re mostly black to fit the rest of the frame. The bike also integrates several other plastic parts; the most notable ones are the end caps of the base bars, the heads of the adjustment knobs, and the casing of the fitness monitor.

The JEEKEE bike is not super large. With all the parts assembled, it is approx. 53.3″ (135 cm) long, and 19.3″ (49 cm) wide, while its highest point is given by the top of the monitor unit which reaches approx. 39″ (99 cm) above the floor. It is recommended, though, to leave at least two feet of clearance all around the bike, for ease of access and safe usage.

The bike is not too heavy either. Its net weight is approx. 66 lbs (30 kg). This being said, it can be carried and assembled by only one person. Also, once it is assembled, it can easily be moved via the small wheels integrated into its front base bar.

Seat and handlebars

The JEEKEE recumbent bike features a pretty solid seat with a steel frame that consists of two parallel rectangular bars. This design considerably improves its sturdiness, this being one of the main reasons the bike is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 300 lbs (136 kg).

The seat features two large pads that integrate approx. 1.5″ (3.8 cm) of foam cushioning. They are covered with a layer of durable vinyl material. The seat pat is approx. 12.5″W x 11.8″D (31.7 x 29.9 cm), while the backrest pad is approx. 12.5″W x 16″L (31.7 x 40.6 cm).

The whole seat assembly is adjustable. It slides on a monorail with several adjustment positions. The applicable inseam range is 27″ – 39″ (68.5 – 99 cm). This being said, the bike should be able to accommodate users between 4’9″ and 6’5″ (145 – 196 cm). The backrest does not adjust independently from the rest of the seat, though; it does not have a reclining function either.

The JEEKEE recumbent bike features two sets of handlebars. One attaches to the seat, the other to the front upright bar of the machine. The seat handlebars integrate metallic pulse sensors. The front handlebar has short grips slightly curved towards the user. Both handlebar sets feature PVC foam grips for improved contact. None of the handlebars are adjustable.

Resistance system

The JEEKEE recumbent exercise bike is equipped with a standard magnetic resistance system with manual action. This means that the bike does not require a power adapter or an external power source. But on the other hand, it also does not have pre-set workout programs and does not adjust the resistance automatically.

The bike’s resistance system consists of an internal magnetic brake that connects to the tension knob on the front mast through a steel cable. Therefore, when you turn the knob, the magnets move closer or farther from the flywheel which increases or decreases the pedaling difficulty.

The magnetic resistance system comes with several advantages over a friction resistance system. First of all, the magnets do not touch the flywheel. Thus, the pedaling motion is very smooth and quiet. And second of all, since the magnetic brake pad does not touch the flywheel, it basically never wears out, so you won’t have to worry about its replacement.

The bike offers 8 levels of resistance. The first two levels provide light resistance for gentle exercising, great for blood circulation improvement, and workout warm-up. The 3-5 tension levels deliver moderate workout intensity, while the 6-8 levels offer considerably more resistance and the possibility to perform a more consistent workout.

Drive system

Like many other magnetic resistance exercise bikes, the JEEKEE bike is equipped with a belt drive system. It integrates a poly-v belt designed for improved traction. The belt drive system comes with the main advantage that it does not require lubrication. It also generates less vibration than a chain, so it contributes to the overall smoothness and quietness of the ride.

The bike’s internal flywheel features a perimeter-weighted design for improved inertia. Its exact weight is not specified, but since the bike only weighs approx. 66 lbs (30 kg), the flywheel probably doesn’t weigh more than 20 lbs (9 kg).

The flywheel is bi-directional. Thus, you can pedal in reverse if you want. However, coasting is not possible on this bike; the pedals continue to spin for as long as the flywheel is spinning. Also, when pedaling in reverse, you will get the same resistance as when pedaling forward.

Fitness monitor

The JEEKEE recumbent bike features a fitness monitor similar to the one included with the Efitment RB034. It has an LCD display (without backlight) that tracks time, distance, total distance, speed, calories, and pulse. Speed and distance are shown in MPH and miles. There is no option for setting them to metric units. Also, the pulse reading function is grip contact only. In order for the monitor to read your pulse, you have to hold on to the integrated sensors. It cannot read your pulse from a wireless transmitter.

The monitor unit does not have any pre-set programs or Bluetooth connectivity. It also isn’t compatible with any fitness apps. However, it does offer the possibility to set goals for time, distance, and calories. If a goal is set for any of these workout metrics, the monitor will count down from the selected value. This way, you can keep track of your progress and push your limits with every workout.

The monitor unit is pretty easy to use. It has three main buttons: Mode, Set, Reset. The Mode button allows you to select the workout metric that you want to view on the display or select the scan function which automatically rotates all the metrics showing each one for a few seconds. The Set button covers the goal-setting function. And finally, the Reset button clears all the values on the monitor to zero.

The monitor unit is battery-powered. It requires two AA batteries which are included. It starts up when you begin pedaling, and also automatically turns off if it does not detect any activity on the bike for more than 4 minutes.

Assembly and Maintenance

This recumbent exercise bike is pretty easy to assemble. You only have to connect the two main frame pieces together, add the two base bars, the seat with both its pads, the handlebars, the pedals, the front mast, and the fitness monitor. This shouldn’t take more than an hour. All the necessary tools are included and the manual provides pretty decent assembly instructions.

Once the bike is assembled, you don’t have to worry too much about maintenance. The internal parts shouldn’t need any lubrication for a long period of time. Therefore, you only need to wipe off the sweat that may fall on the frame at the end of the workout, keep the bike clean, and periodically inspect it to make sure that all the parts hold tight in their places and all the moving parts function properly.
