Frame construction and accessories
This Goplus multifunction home gym combines steel and PVC parts in its construction. Evidently, its structural frame is made of steel tubing, offering a fairly decent weight capacity of 243 lbs (110 kg). All the steel parts of the machine are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, with the exception of the two guide rods of the weight stack which are chrome plated.
Compared to other home gym systems, the Goplus 36555 has a fairly small footprint. It’s approx. 50″ (127 cm) long, and 39″ (99 cm) wide. However, it is recommended to leave at least 2-3 feet of clearance on the sides and at the front of the unit, in order to have enough space to execute all the exercises without any hindrance. Also, its height is approx. 82″ (208 cm); this being said, the machine should fit in a room with a 7′ (213 cm) ceiling.
The fully assembled unit is not extremely heavy; however, it still weighs approx. 180 lbs (81.6 kg) when fully assembled. This weight should deliver enough stability for all exercises but it’s still recommended to place it on a rubber mat, as it does not have adjustable base stabilizers.
This Goplus home gym system is equipped with a standard seat and backrest. These elements cannot be adjusted. The seat is approx. 14.5″L x 12″W (37 x 30.5 cm) while the backrest’s dimensions are 27.5″L x 9.5″W (70 x 24 cm). They integrate 2″ (5 cm) of foam padding for optimal comfort, and their upholstery is made of tough, bi-color (red & black) vinyl material. Both the seat and backrest are placed at a fair distance from the machine’s workout stations. And these being said, the unit should be able to accommodate users between 5’0″ and 6’2″ (153 – 188 cm) with no problem, allowing a complete range of motion for all exercises.
The machine is equipped with a set of 12 pulleys. They’re made of durable nylon material and integrate ball bearings in order to provide a smooth motion. The cables are heavy-duty steel ropes. Their exact tensile strength is not specified but they should be able to support much more weight than the 100 lbs (45.3 kg) provided by the stack. They are also coated with a layer of PVC to provide a smooth travel of the cables over the pulleys, and to prevent their scratching.
There are several accessories included with this home gym. Among them, we can count the lat bar, the short bar for low rows and curls, and an extension chain. An ankle cuff for leg kickbacks is not included.
Workout stations
The Goplus SP36555 features four workout stations, including the leg developer. These are:
High pulley station. This workout station features only one pulley. It offers the possibility to execute a wide variety of exercises for the development of back muscles. As we’ve mentioned above, the lat pulldown bar is included. It’s a standard 38″ (96.5 cm) bar with curved rubberized grips featuring the same paint finish as the rest of the frame.
Dual function press station. The machine’s front press can be used for both classic seated chest press exercises and fly presses. Its arms are equipped with rectangular arm pads with the same upholstery and cushioning as the seat and backrest. Also, their lower grips are rubberized and allow a parallel grip and a horizontal grip.
Low pulley station. The low pulley workout station gives you the possibility to execute quite a few exercises for various groups of muscles. For example, you can perform low rows, bicep curls, stand-up rows, leg kickbacks, leg abductions and more. The front base of the unit has two small metallic plates for placing your feet to get more stability during standing low pulley exercises. Also, a short bar with rubberized grips, and an extension chain are included for this particular workout station.
Leg developer. This particular attachment connects to the machine’s low pulley. It allows the execution of standard leg extensions or standing up one leg curls. It features two thick foam rollers to provide optimal comfort for all exercises.
Weight resistance
This Goplus home gym system is equipped with a 100 lbs (45.3 kg) weight stack. Of course, its workout stations provide different weight ratios, but the exact weight resistance for each increment is not specified.
The stack consists of 9 weight plates plus the top selector plate. Each plate weighs 10 lbs (4.5 kg). The weight plates are made of a vinyl & cement combo; they are not metallic. This is one of the reasons this machine is one of the most affordable. But nonetheless, since it’s a unit designed for home use, these plates can last a lifetime.
The weight stack is not designed for upgrades. Of course, the cables can support much more weight than 100 lbs (45.3 kg), and you can improvise by attaching dumbbell discs on the outside of the stack. But users have reported that if extra weight is added to the stack, the pulleys don’t permit a full range of motion for the weight stack.

Assembly and Maintenance
This Goplus home gym requires complete assembly. However, since it’s a basic machine, its assembly isn’t too complicated. It can be done by only one person, but it’s recommended to be assembled by two persons. The manual provides step-by-step assembly instructions and most of the tools needed for it are included.
For maintenance, it is recommended to lubricate the guide rods of the weight stack from time to time to ensure a smooth travel of the weight plates. The pulleys may also need periodic lubrication. Other than that, it’s recommended to periodically check for loose bolts and parts, and re-tighten them if necessary.
