The FYC JK31-4 treadmill is one of the fitness machines released in 2021. It’s a small and affordable treadmill made for home use. In terms of design, it can be compared with the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7951. However, it’s a bit smaller, does not have an incline system, and has fewer console features and programs.

Frame construction

The FYC JK31-4 treadmill features a pretty sturdy steel frame. Its base frame is made of rectangular tubing, the two upright bars are oval, while the two handrails are cylindrical. The base frame tubes and the upright tubes are double-coated with a rust-resistant paint finish while the handrails feature a PVC foam coating for improved comfort and contact. The paint finish color is white, this being the only color available for this treadmill, at least for the moment.

As we’ve mentioned above, the treadmill is rather small compared with other similar models. It is only 50.4″ (128 cm) long, and 21.3″ (54 cm) wide. This being said, it can fit pretty well even into a small room, but it’s still recommended to leave at least a few feet of clearance at the rear and on each side of the deck.

The treadmill is foldable. The two upright bars can be unlocked and folded over the base, while the two handrails can easily be removed. When folded, the treadmill can be stored against a wall, or even under a bed or couch, if there is enough clearance. In its folded position, without the handrails and the tablet holder, the unit is only 5.1″ (13 cm) thick.

Drive motor

The FYC JK31-4 is an electric treadmill. This being said, you will need to connect it to a power source to start up its console and make adjustments. It comes with a power cord featuring a US power plug. The cord attaches to the front base of the deck. There is also an On/Off switch next to the connector of the power cord.

The treadmill is equipped with a 2.5 HP motor which offers a fairly decent performance for a small machine. Even if the user is close to the maximum weight limit (265 lbs), the motor should be able to run smoothly without losing performance or overheating for at least a few hours. It is recommended, though, to let it rest for a few minutes after every 1-2 hours of use.

The unit’s motor offers a speed range between 0.5 and 8.5 MPH. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH, so you can easily adjust your pace when changing the speed. The console offers buttons for gradual speed adjustment only. It does not have buttons for quick speed level selection.

The motor itself is not very noisy. Its noise output is only 60 dB which is not too bad. As a general idea, you should be able to hear the sound of a TV set on a moderate volume level with no problem. Console

The FYC JK31-4 treadmill features a pretty standard LED display console, similar up to a point to the console of the Sunny SF-T7909. Its display is divided into 6 sub-sections and shows (from left to right) speed, steps, time, distance, calories, and mode. Speed and distance are shown in MPH and miles; there is no possibility to change them to metric units. Also, this particular treadmill does not have a pulse reading function.

The treadmill does not have online connectivity and it is not compatible with any fitness apps. However, it does have 12 pre-set workout programs. Each program has 20 segments and the speed varies from a segment to another. The pre-set workout time for each program is 30 minutes, but you can always change it. The duration of each segment is time/20.

The console also offers goal-setting functions. You can select a workout goal for time, distance, or calories. If a goal is selected, it will count down from the selected value until it reaches zero.

The console unit is pretty easy to use. It has Start/Stop buttons, speed adjustment buttons (+, -), there’s also a Mode button for selecting a workout goal, and also a Program button that allows you to scroll through the program database and select the one you want to use.

The console does not have built-in speakers for playing music. It also does not have bottle holders, a USB port, or a workout fan. However, it does have a tablet holder. This attaches to the front section of the console; its top is adjustable so you can fix your device better. It’s also easy to remove in case you want to fold and store your treadmill away.

Assembly and Maintenance

The FYC JK31-4 treadmill comes almost completely assembled. You only have to remove it from the box, unfold the two support bars with the console and secure them in the upright position, then attach the two handrails and the tablet holder. This shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes of your time. All the necessary tools are included and the manual provides clear assembly instructions.

For maintenance, it is recommended to keep the machine clean, especially the belt, to prevent textile fibers, debris, or small items from being dragged into the motor. The belt also requires periodic lubrication; the manual provides all the necessary instructions for it.
