Frame, parts, and accessories
The Fitness Reality 810XLT power cage features a heavy-duty frame made of 2″ x 2″ tubular steel. All the steel parts in its construction are powder coated with a corrosion-resistant finish. The upright bars are gray, while the base bars, the top chinning bars, and the rear stability bars are black. The upright guide bar of the lat machine and the safety bars have a chrome finish.
The fully assembled cage with the lat machine attached is fairly large. It has a footprint of approx. 68″L x 46.5″W (173 x 118 cm), while its height exceeds 7′ (213 cm). Therefore, you will need an area of at least 100″ x 100″ (254 x 254 cm) for it, and a ceiling height of at least 8′ (244 cm).
Since it does not include a weight stack like the Body-Solid Powerline PSM1442XS for example, this Fitness Reality power cage is not extremely heavy. But still weighs more than 150 lbs (68 kg) without a barbell or weight plates attached. Therefore, it offers excellent stability, so it doesn’t need to be anchored to the floor. Its base bars don’t have pre-drilled holes for this purpose. They rest on ABS pads for floor protection, but it is recommended to assemble and use the unit on a rubberized mat.
The cage upright bars have 19 attachment positions for the safety bars, or the dip bars in case you opt for them (they are not included). Two 23″ (58.4 cm) safety bars, and two 3 1/4″ (8.2 cm) catch bars are included with the cage. They all have a chrome finish and are rated for weight loads up to 800 lbs (362.8 kg).
The included Fitness Reality 710 lat attachment is equipped with 7 heavy-duty pulleys which integrate ball bearings for a smooth movement and a long lifespan. The exact tensile strength of the cable is not specified, but it is a steel cable with a nylon coating made to withstand much more than the maximum load specified for the lat machine.
A bench is not included with the Fitness Reality 810XLT 2821, but you can opt for the FR 1000 bench which is sold separately. However, the cage does include the knee stopper attachment which features two extra thick foam rollers for superior comfort.
In terms of accessories, this Fitness Reality cage and lat attachment system includes a short bar for low rows, a curved bar for lat pull-downs, a short extension chain, and two spring clips for the lat attachment pegs.
Workout stations
The Fitness Reality 810XLT 2821 offers four main workout stations. These are:
Power cage. Just as any other power cage, the 810XLT gives you the possibility to perform squats, curls, shrugs or other exercises while safely using a heavy barbell. A barbell and weight plates are not included with the unit, but as a general idea, it is designed for usage with 7′ Olympic barbells.
Pull-up and chinning station. This workout station consists of two curved parallel bars attached to the top of the cage. They have a multi-grip design, offering the possibility to perform all types of pull-up and chin-up exercises. The weight capacity is not specified for these top bars, which means that you should be able to perform any weighted pull-ups or chin-up without any issues.
High-pulley station. This is the primary workout station for the lat machine. It offers the possibility to perform lat pull-downs, tricep press-downs and a multitude of other high-pulley cable exercises. As we’ve mentioned above, a standard 39″ (96.5 cm) lat bar is included for it. It has rubberized curved grips for optimal comfort.
Low-pulley station. The unit’s low pulley allows the execution of seated rows, stand-up curls or other low pulley exercises. A short bar with rubberized handles is included for this workout station.
Weight Resistance System
As we’ve mentioned above, the Fitness Reality 810XLT with lat attachment does not include a barbell and weight plates. The lat attachment does not have its own weight stack, but it is equipped with two Standard pegs (1″ in diameter) which can be loaded with dumbbell or barbell weight plates. Each peg of the lat machine moving element measures 6.5″ (16.5 cm), so it can hold at least a few plates.
The machine does not include Olympic adapters for 2″ plates, but you can opt for a set and load the lat machine with Olympic plates. A set of 1″ springs for fixing Standard plates on it is included, though.
The moving element of the lat machine is rated for a weight capacity of 270 lbs (122.4 kg). The exact weight ratio provided by the lat machine is not specified either.

Assembly and Maintenance
The machine requires full assembly. It comes in several boxes and the process will take at least a few hours. The included manuals provide pretty clear assembly instructions, and some of the tools for assembly are included.
Once the machine is fully assembled, maintenance doesn’t require much. The guide bar of the lat machine moving element may need periodic lubrication for a smooth movement of the load. Other than this, it is recommended to periodically check the unit for loose bolts and parts, and re-tighten them if it’s the case.
