The Efitment B019 is one of the upright exercise bikes released in 2020. It’s a basic folding upright bike featuring a standard magnetic resistance system and a basic exercise meter. But nonetheless, it is also one of the most affordable stationary bikes available. In terms of features, it can be compared with the XTERRA FB150, or the ProGear 225.

Frame construction

The Efitment B019 upright exercise bike features an X-type frame composed of two main parts connected in the middle. The part that holds the handlebar and the performance monitor consists of two parallel bars. The other part passes through the two parallel bars and integrates the seat and the resistance mechanism. The main tubes of the frame are ovalized while the base bars are cylindrical. All the steel tubes in the bike’s construction feature a durable, corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is gray, this being the only color available for this Efitment exercise bike.

The Efitment B019 upright exercise bike has a pretty light construction. Its net weight is only 34 lbs (15.4 kg). This means it can be carried and assembled by only one person. Plus, its front base bar features rotating caps which can serve as transport wheels for easy relocation.

The bike has a pretty compact design. Its footprint is only 30.5″L x 18″W (77 x 46 cm), while its highest point is given by its handlebars which reach approx. 47″ (119 cm) above floor level. It is recommended, though, to leave at least two feet of clearance all around the bike, for safe usage.

Similar to other exercise bikes with an X-type frame, the B019 is foldable. With the frame folded, the bike’s footprint is reduced to approx. 18 x 18″ (46 x 46 cm).

Seat and handlebars

Since it’s one of the most basic upright exercise bikes, the Efitment B019 only offers 2-way adjustability (up, down) for the seat. Its upright post has several adjustment positions so the bike can accommodate users up to 6’2″ (187 cm). It is also durable enough to support users up to 240 lbs (109 kg).

The included saddle is also a standard one. Its top is made of polyurethane material with a thin layer of foam padding. It also has a central groove for improved breathability.

The bike’s handlebars have a multi-grip design. They offer a parallel grip, a climbing grip, and the standard grip. They attach to the front section of the frame via bolts so you cannot adjust their height or their angle.

The handlebars are equipped with metallic pulse sensors and the included performance monitor has a pulse reading function. This feature is quite a plus for an exercise bike in this price range, as not all of them have it.

Drive and resistance

The Efitment B019 is light exercise bike so its internal flywheel only weighs 4.4 lbs (2 kg). However, it has a perimeter-weighted structure so it provides a bit of extra inertia. It is also bi-directional so pedaling in reverse is possible, but you cannot coast on this bike. When pedaling in reverse, you will benefit from the same resistance as when pedaling forward.

The bike is equipped with a manual magnetic resistance system. This means it does not require an external power source, and you don’t need an adapter for it, as it is the case for the ProForm X-Bike Duo PFEX11916, for example. But on the other hand, the bike cannot adjust the resistance automatically.

The bike’s resistance system consists of an internal magnetic brake which is connected to the tension knob through a steel cable. By turning the knob clockwise, the brake moves closer to the flywheel which increases the pedaling difficulty.

The bike makes available 8 levels of resistance. The first one is really light, great for recovery training, or warming up. Conversely, the 8th level does provide a distinguishable pedal tension, but it’s still pretty light. Differently put, the bike is not meant for high-intensity spin workouts.

Like most other exercise bikes equipped with a magnetic resistance system, the Efitment B019 features a belt drive system. This type of drivetrain comes with a series of advantages. To begin with, it generates less vibration than a chain drive so it contributes to the overall smoothness of the ride. The pedaling motion is whisper-quiet, and on top of that, you don’t have to worry about periodic lubrication.

Needless to say, since the B019 is a light-capacity exercise bike, it does not offer the possibility to perform spin workouts or to stand up on the pedals. However, it does have a pretty sturdy crankset. The pedals have a weighted design so they always turn face-up when you remove your feet from them. They also have a non-slip surface and they’re equipped with adjustable straps.

Performance monitor

The Efitment B019 upright bike is equipped with a basic performance monitor. The unit features an LCD display which indicates time, speed, distance, total distance (odometer), calories, and pulse. Speed and distance are shown in English units (miles per hour and miles). Also, the pulse reading function only works through the integrated sensors; the monitor unit is not telemetric and cannot communicate with a Polar or ANT chest strap.

The monitor unit does not have goal functions or preset programs. It only has one button. It turns on when you push the button or when you begin pedaling. By pressing it repeatedly, you can scroll through the workout metrics and select the one that you want to lock on the display. You can also select the Scan Mode; when the Scan Mode is selected, the unit rotates all the workout metrics showing each one for 4 seconds. The button also has a Reset function. You can press and hold it for a few seconds to clear all the values on the monitor to zero.

The performance monitor is battery powered. It uses two AA batteries. It also has a sleep mode to which will enter after several minutes of inactivity on the bike.

Assembly and Maintenance

The two main parts of the frame come pre-assembled and connected together in the middle. The drive and resistance elements are also already assembled. Therefore, you only have to attach the two base bars, the seat post, the saddle, the handlebars, the exercise meter, and the pedals. This shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes of your time. All the necessary tools are included, and the manual provides very clear assembly instructions and schematics.

The bike’s maintenance doesn’t require much. All the internal components are pre-lubricated from the factory, and since the bike has a belt drive system, it doesn’t require any lubrication. Thus, all you have to do is wipe the dust from the frame and periodically check for loose parts and bolts.
