The Body-Solid S2BTP is one of the fitness machines of the ProClubline Series II. As the name of the series suggests, this is a commercial-grade fitness machine. Although it’s labeled as a tricep machine, it’s basically a lat pull-down machine with an integrated low pulley as well, but as opposed to the S2CC Cable Column machine that we’ve already covered here, it lacks the adjustable median pulley.

Frame construction
The Body-Solid ProClubline Series II S2BTP Tricep machine features a commercial-grade construction. It is built on a 2″ x 3″, 12-gauge steel frame coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used for the base frame is black, while the upright and top bars of the machine are painted gray. The two guide rods of the weight stack feature a chrome plating finish.
The fully assembled trainer is not extremely large. Its net footprint is 52″L x 43″W (132 x 109 cm). This being said, it can fit in a small room as well. However, it is recommended to leave at least three feet of clearance at the front of the unit, two feet of clearance on each side, and at least one foot of clearance at the back, for ease of access and the correct execution of each exercise.
The machine’s height is approx. 84″ (213 cm). This being said, it won’t fit in a room with a 7-foot ceiling. But on the other hand, since it doesn’t integrate a workout station for pull-ups, it doesn’t need too much clearance above.
The small plates at the ends of the base bars feature pre-drilled holes so you can secure the machine to the floor if you think it’s necessary. However, the S2BTP tricep machine is fairly heavy on its own; it weighs around 400 lbs (181.4 kg), so even if it’s not anchored, it’s pretty stable and shouldn’t budge no matter what exercises you perform. It is recommended, though, to place it on a rubber mat to prevent damage to the floor, especially if placed on wooden or laminate floors.
Last but not least, this Body-Solid home gym includes two large plastic guards for the weight stack. One covers the front part almost entirely, leaving only a small opening at the bottom so you can adjust the weight stack. The other covers the top part of the stack and it’s made of black thermoplastic material.
Parts and accessories
First of all, the Body-Solid S2BTP Tricep Machine integrates 10 heavy-duty pulleys made of nylon material with integrated ball bearings for smooth usage. The top pulley has a pivoting design; this offers the possibility to perform various one-arm cross cable exercises.
The S2BTP fitness machine has two cables; their exact rating is not specified but they are probably rated for a much higher tensile strength than the 160 lbs (72.5 kg) which is the weight of the machine’s stack. Needless to say, they are steel ropes featuring PVC sleeves to prevent the scratching of the pulleys.
The main upright tube of the machine is equipped with a thick DuraFirm pad for resting your elbow during certain top pulley exercises, or even your back during lat pull-downs. Its inner foam cushion is approx. 2.5″ (6 cm) thick while its cover is made of durable vinyl material which is moisture-proof and easy to maintain.
The front bottom part of the machine features a large footplate for improved stability during pull-down exercises. Its surface is textured featuring a diamond pattern to prevent foot slippage.
In terms of accessories, the S2BTP includes a tricep rope and a short bar for low rows with a small attachment chain. An ankle cuff for abductions or adductions is not included. Also, the machine does not include a lat pull-down standard bar. You can use the short bar for top pulley exercises, though.
Weight Stack and Weight Resistance
The Body-Solid S2BTP is available with two different weight stacks, these being 160 lbs (72.5 kg), and 235 lbs (106.5 kg). The model we’re addressing here is the one that comes with the 160 lbs (72.5 kg) stack. This particular stack is upgradable, though; you can always purchase extra plates from Body-Solid.
One of the major pluses with regards to the machine’s weight stack is that the plates are made of cast iron, not cement/plastic as is the case for other home gyms. This being said, they are considerably sturdier. This is also one of the reasons this strength training machine costs considerably more than others. So, regardless if the S2BTP machine is used in a home gym setting or in a commercial gym, its weight stack can last a lifetime.
The weight stack of the S2BTP tricep machine consists of 15 weight plates; each one weighs 10 lbs (4.5 kg). The weight carriage itself weighs 10 lbs (4.5 kg). The machine’s weight ratio is 1/2:1. This means that the weight is divided in half. For example, if you select 5 weight plates which along with the carriage will have a total weight of 60 lbs (27.2 kg), the machine will provide a weight resistance of 55 lbs (13.6 kg).
Possible Exercises
The Body-Solid ProClubline Series II S2BTP Tricep Machine offers the possibility to execute more than 25 exercises. Among them, we can count:

Assembly and Maintenance
Like most other Body-Solid strength training equipment, the S2BTP requires full assembly. It comes in two heavy boxes so their transport requires two people. It is recommended that the assembly is also done by two people. The assembly task is not too complicated but will take more than 2-3 hours. You will basically have to assembly the base frame first, add the upright bar, the stack assembly, and then the top section, along with all the small parts, pulleys, cables, etc. The manual provides clear assembly instructions. Tools for assembly are not included, and you will need a set of Allen keys, two adjustable wrenches or a standard wrench set, and a Phillips screwdriver.
Once the machine is assembled, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about maintenance. The guide rods of the weight stack may require lubrication from time to time. The pulleys may also need some lubricant if they begin to squeak. Other than this, you only need to keep the machine clean and check for loose parts from time to time.
