Frame construction

Since it’s a rack made to withstand heavy loads, its frame is naturally made of steel, featuring 2″ x 3″ 11-gauge steel tubing. All the steel parts in the frame construction are coated with industrial grade, corrosion resistant paint, gray in color. The pull-up bar and body-solid pro clubline smr1000 - side viewpull-up handles have a black finish, though.

The assembled frame is fairly large compared to other power racks, such as the Body-Solid Power Rack GPR378 or Titan T3 Series HD. It’s 80″ (203 cm) long, and 69″ (175 cm) wide, its inside area being quite roomy, allowing the execution of various barbell exercises without any hindrance. Due to this width, it pretty much goes without saying that it requires Olympic bars. A bar is not included with it, though. Also, for the safe and unhindered execution of all exercises, and for the ease of loading and unloading of weight plates, the recommended usage space for is 96″L x 84″W (244 x 213 cm).

The rack’s fully assembled height is 89″ (226 cm), which means it won’t fit in a room with a 7′ (213 cm) ceiling. Also, it’s recommended to be placed in a room with a ceiling height of at least 8.25′ (251 cm), for the correct execution of pull-ups and chin-ups. However, even if it’s placed in a room with a standard 8′ ceiling (244 cm), you’ll still have about 5″ (13 cm) of clearance above it. So, with a little care, you shouldn’t hit your head on the ceiling when performing chin-ups.

The Body Solid Pro ClubLine Commercial Rack does not have any adjustable base stabilizers or rubberized pads on its base tubes. Therefore, it’s best to place it on a mat, to prevent any damage to the flooring. Due to its large footprint and considerable weight (315 lbs), to which the weight plates and the barbell will be added, it’s quite a stable rack on its own. However, each one of its bases has six floor attachment plates, so you can secure it to the floor if you want.

Other parts

The Body-Solid Pro ClubLine SMR1000 is equipped with 1/4″ solid steel gun rack liftoffs. The rack offers 8 positions for the spotter bars, but the main upright bars actually have 14 catch positions for the barbell. The highest position of the spotter bars is at approx. 4′ (122 cm) above floor level, while the lowest adjustment position is approx. 1′ (30.5 cm) from thebody-solid smr1000 - safety bars floor. Thus, the rack provides a sufficient amount of positions for chest presses, in case you will be using a bench, or perform squats.

The safety bars feature rubberized bands on top of them, to prevent loud noise or the damage of the paint finish, in case you drop the barbell.

This Body Solid power rack integrates a standard pull-up bar, with curved grips and on the opposite side, two pull-up handles for parallel grip pull-ups and other exercises of the sort. The bar and grip handles are not rubberized; they have a black paint finish and knurled grips. Therefore, in case you want to perform multiple pull-up sets, the use of gloves or chalk powder is recommended.

The front part of the frame’s base integrates two sets of pegs on each side, for attaching rubber bands to them, in case you want to perform rubber band squats or rubber band biceps curls. These pegs are directly welded to the frame, so they can’t be removed. They may be an inconvenience in case you want to perform deadlifts at the front of the frame, as you may drop the bar on them if you’re not careful. However, you can always perform deadlifts at the rear of the rack or outside of it.

Each one of the rear upright bars of the frame is equipped with three pegs for weight plate storage. These pegs are 2″ (5 cm) in diameter, being made to support only Olympic-type weight plates. String collars or any type of collars for these storage pegs are not included with the rack.

When it comes to available accessories, Body-Solid offers several that are compatible with this particular rack. Among them, we can count the SFID325 Pro ClubLine Adjustable Bench, OBP Olympic Rubberized weight plates, SR-CB Cannonball Grips, PPH2 Power Hooks and various Olympic Power Bars. None of these accessories are included. They’re all separate purchases.

The Pro ClubLine SMR1000 Multi Squat Rack does not include any dip bars, nor does it offer the possibility to attach any to it. However, as an alternative for dip bars, you can attach a set of exercise rings either to the pull-up bar or the opposite pull-up handles.

Weight Capacity

The Body Solid Pro ClubLine SMR1000 is a commercial-grade power rack, therefore it’s built to support heavy loads. It’s safety bars and the gun rack liftoffs can support weights up to 1,000 lbs (453.5 kg). This being said, the rack definitely meets the weight load requirements of any power lifter.

The rear storage pegs of the frame can support up to 500 lbs (226.7 kg) each. As we’ve mentioned above, they do not have adapters on them, so they cannot fit Standard weight plates with 1″ holes, only Olympic plates.

One last aspect to mention here regards the weight capacity of the pull-up bar and pull-up handles. Each one of these workout stations is rated for 500 lbs (226.7 kg). Therefore, you can perform weighted pull-ups or chin-ups without worrying that they will bend or break.
