Frame & deck
The Reebok Jet 100 treadmill features a steel base frame coated with a corrosion-resistant powder finish. There also are several ABS parts in its construction, these being the covers of the front lateral bases, the side foot rails, the cover of the motor and the console dashboard. But overall, the unit has a pretty decent construction and durability; it is designed to support users up to 240 lbs (109 kg).
Although it’s not a large running machine, it still takes quite a bit of space. It’s 67″ (170 cm) long, and 30.5″ wide and on top of that, it requires at least two feet of clearance on each side, and at least three feet of clearance at the rear. The deck is foldable, though; it features a “soft-drop” hydraulic cylinder which assists you with its lowering. With the deck folded up, the unit’s length is reduced to approx. 45″ (114 cm) while its height reaches approx. 61″ (155 cm).
The machine has a pretty heavy construction. It weighs approx. 168 lbs (76.2 kg). However, once it is assembled, its transport and handling shouldn’t be too difficult as the front base integrates a set of transport wheels; the unit can be easily relocated with the deck folded up. The rear base also features a set of wheels but their purpose is stability, not transport. The front base also integrates four adjustable stabilizers with rubber pads.
This Reebok treadmill offers a running surface of 51″ x 17″ (130 x 43 cm). It’s considerably smaller than for the Bowflex BXT116 or Schwinn 870 MY17, so this being said, the unit is not the best choice for tall users, over 6’2″-6’3″. The machine does provide speeds up to 10 MPH, but a tall user may find this running surface a bit short for running at full speed. But on the other hand, for walking or light jogging it’s an excellent trainer.
The unit uses a durable, stretch-resistant and non-slip belt. It integrates a set of precision-machined crowned rollers which provide an excellent grip for the belt. They have industrial-grade, sealed ball bearings in order to provide a smooth motion and withstand many years of wear and tear.
The unit’s deck is equipped with Air Motion cushioning technology. It integrates a set of cushioning elements on each side, placed under the front half of the deck in order to absorb a part of the shock for each foot strike. The rear part also has two concealed shock absorption elements which provide a bit of boost for each foot push. These being said, running on this treadmill results in less impact stress on the joints, and therefore less workout-related joint pain.
Incline & step-up height
The Reebok Jet 100 treadmill features a motorized incline system. It consists of a small motor and a double-lever element situated under the deck, at the front. As you adjust the incline, the lift will elevate the front of the deck changing the position of the running ramp.
Since the incline system is automatic, it can only be adjusted from the console. Also, some of the preset programs on the console involve incline; therefore, when using them, the machine will automatically adjust the incline according to the workout segment in use.
This treadmill offers an incline range between 0% and 12%. The incline can be adjusted in increments of 1%. There are keys for gradual adjustment and quick-adjustment on the console. The quick adjustment keys cover the 3, 6, 9, and 12 incline settings.
The unit’s running surface is placed at approx. 9″ (23 cm) above floor level. However, with the incline set at maximum, the front part is elevated by several inches. Therefore, it’s best to place and use the machine in a room with a ceiling that exceeds your own height by at least 16″ (41 cm).
Motor
This Reebok treadmill is equipped with a 2.0 HP motor which provides an excellent traction. It’s designed to withstand prolonged workouts, but it’s constant running time is less than 2 hours. So, if you’re planning to run a marathon, this trainer may not be the best choice.
The motor offers a speed range between 0.6 MPH and 10.0 MPH. Although the starting speed of the running belt is 0.6 MPH, the speed can be adjusted in increments of 0.1 MPH. This is quite a plus, as it allows you to find the perfect pace depending on your height and workout. The gradual speed adjustment keys have a double function, though. By pressing and holding them you can adjust the speed in increments of 0.5 MPH. Quick speed adjustment settings are also available on the console.
Just as for incline, if you choose to exercise by using one of the onboard programs, the machine will auto-adjust the speed of the running belt. So, these being said, some of the programs will auto-adjust both the incline of the deck and the speed of the belt.
Last but not least, since it’s a basic motor, its power consumption is also minimal. In other words, even if you will be using it daily, it shouldn’t add more than a few dollars to the electricity bill. Also, the motor itself doesn’t generate a lot of noise when in use, but depending on how fast you go, your cadence may generate more or less noise.
Console
The Reebok Jet 100 is equipped with a LED-based console. It has large, red digits, easy to read. It tracks time, distance, pulse, calories, speed, and incline. For speed and distance, both standard and metric units are available. Also, the distance can be viewed as a running track of 1/4 miles (0.4 km) and inside the running track, the number of completed laps is displayed.
The machine’s console unit is not telemetric. It cannot read your pulse through an HR chest strap transmitter. However, the unit’s front hand grips are equipped with metallic pulse sensors, so by holding on to them, the unit can track your pulse.
The console unit has 24 preset workout programs that automatically adjust the belt speed and deck incline. Each program is adjustable, though; you can change its time span, speed and incline for each segment. The P0 program is the manual mode which allows you to freely control speed and incline as you like during your workout. There are countdown settings available for the time, distance and calorie metrics.
A Body Fat Test function is available as well. This program will prompt you to input personal data such as age, gender, weight, and height in order to calculate your body fat index. This way, you get an idea of the intensity of workouts that you need to undertake and the amounts of calories that you will need to burn for each workout, in order to reach your weight goals or fitness goals.
The machine’s console also has several amenities. Among them, we can count a sound system, cooling fan, tablet holder and two bottle holders. The sound system is compatible with most MP3 players or smartphones. There is a USB port to which you connect your device and this USB connection also provides battery charging for your device. By connecting your smartphone or MP3 player to the unit, you can listen to your music through the integrated speakers which provide a higher quality of sound than most phone or tablet speakers. There are sound adjustment buttons available on the console.
The cooling fan is placed under the unit’s speakers. It has two settings, On and Off. It’s not an extremely powerful fan but does provide a bit of cooling if needed. The tablet holder is placed in-between the unit’s displays. It’s long enough to accommodate any tablet. And finally, there are two large bottle holders, one on each side of the console’s dashboard.
Assembly and Maintenance
The deck with all of its components comes pre-assembled. The two console masts are also attached to the unit; all you need to do is unfold them and add several screws to lock them in an upright position. Next, you will have to add the console dashboard with the handlebars, and then the console. This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 min. The manual provides clear assembly instructions and all the tools you’ll need are included.
For maintenance, it’s recommended to periodically check the machine for loose bolts and parts, and re-tighten them if necessary. The tread belt must be kept clean, free of any textile fibers, dirt or any other objects that may be caught in the motor. Also, the belt requires periodic lubrication; for this, standard silicone lubricant for treadmills is recommended.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY 2.0 CHP WHY NOT HP
It’s a 2.0 HP motor, not a 2.0 CHP motor. We’ve corrected the error, thanks for pointing it out.
Also, there’s a difference between HP and CHP when it comes to treadmill motors. A CHP labeled motor offers continuous horsepower duty. In other words, it offers better performance than an HP labeled motor. The Jet 100 has a 2.0 HP (peak power) motor, so its continuous power should only be around 1.0 CHP.
