The Soozier power cage A91-147 is one of the strength training systems released in 2021. It’s a pretty standard power cage without a lat attachment. In terms of features, it can be compared with the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-XF9925. However, it comes with a set of adjustable dip bars, accessories that the Sunny model does not include.

    Cage: 800 lbs (363 kg)

Frame construction

The Soozier A91-147 power cage features a heavy-duty frame made of rectangular steel tubing. The only exceptions are the tubes of the pull-up bar assembly which are cylindrical in order to provide a better grip. The steel tubes of the main frame are all painted black, featuring a durable coating finish. The J-hooks, dip bars, and weight storage pegs are painted red.

The cage is not super large compared with other home gym systems. It is approx. 53″ (135 cm) long, and 48″ (122 cm) wide. It is recommended, though, to allow at least a few feet of clearance all around it, for easy access.

The unit’s height is 84.75″ (215 cm). Therefore, it won’t fit in a room with a 7-foot (213 cm) ceiling. Plus, you should also allow at least one foot of clearance above it, to be able to execute all the chin-up or pull-up exercises correctly.

In case you’re wondering, the internal activity space of this Soozier power rack is approx. 43.25″L x 33″W (110 x 84 cm). This being said, it offers plenty of space for squats and other exercises that require you to be inside the cage. It also permits the usage of barbells shorter than Olympic (7-foot) size. However, Soozier recommends the usage of Olympic bars.

The unit’s base bars do not have pre-drilled holes for anchoring it to the floor. However, the unit itself is fairly heavy so it should provide plenty of stability on its own. Plus, you can attach the included storage plate storage pegs close to the base of the unit and load them with weight plates which should improve the unit’s overall stability.

Last but not least, the unit’s base bars have rubber caps on their ends. These should prevent your floor from scratching. However, it is still recommended to place and use this cage on a rubber mat.

Accessories and attachments

As we’ve mentioned above, the Soozier A91-147 does not include a lat machine. If you’re looking for one with a lat machine, you can check the Soozier A91-145 model or the REP Fitness PR-1000. However, it comes with several accessories and attachments.

To begin with, just like any other power cage, it includes a set of safety bars and a set of J-hooks. These have a maximum load limit of 800 lbs (363 kg) which is not bad for a home-use power rack. It’s important to mention, though, that they do not have sheets of rubber on top, to prevent finish damage or noise when you drop the barbell. However, these can always be added later.

The pull-up bar assembly features a multi-grip design. It has three short parallel bars in the middle so you can perform various pull-ups or exercises with a parallel grip. The whole pull-up bar assembly can be attached to the top of the cage in several positions (closer to the front or to the rear). You can also attach it upside down to save some space above the unit. But even so, this Soozier cage won’t fit in a room with a 7-foot ceiling.

The cage includes a set of dip handles and 8 plate storage pegs. The dip handles are approx. 16″ (40 cm) long. They have PVC foam sleeves for improved contact. The storage pegs can accommodate Standard 1″ (plates). However, Olympic adapters are not included. Spring collars for securing the weight plates on the pegs are also not included.

The four pillars of the cage have adjustment holes on all sides 19 on the front and rear, and 18 on the sides so you can attach the J-hooks, the dip handles, and the safety bars at various heights. The lowest position is 14.25″ (36 cm), while the highest position is ~80″ (203 cm).

The top sidebars and the bottom sidebars also have 6 holes. Thus, you can connect the plate storage pegs in various positions. If you attach them to the base bars, you can anchor elastic cords to them for various other exercises.

Assembly and Maintenance

This power tower requires complete assembly. However, the task is not too complicated. You will basically have to put the base together, add the vertical pillars then close them with the top bars, and finally, attach the pull-up bar assembly, and the rest of the accessories. This shouldn’t take more than 2 hours of your time. Tools for assembly are not included.

Once the cage is assembled, you don’t have to worry too much about maintenance. Of course, it is recommended to use it indoors, because outside it may catch rust even though the paint is pretty durable. It is also recommended to periodically check for loose bolts and damaged parts, to prevent any accidents.
