Frame and deck
The Efitment T013 features a structural frame made of steel tubing. However, as we’ve mentioned above, this is a light-capacity treadmill and can only support users up to 220 lbs (100 kg). All the steel parts in its construction are coated with a black paint finish which is resistant to rust and abrasion.
The machine is not extremely large. It is approx. 57″ (145 cm) long, and 27.6″ (70 cm) wide. It also has a folding, soft-drop mechanism which involves a hydraulic cylinder. Therefore, when you unfold the deck, it prevents it from crashing on the floor, slowly lowering it all the way down. With the deck folded up, the unit’s depth is reduced to 26″ (66 cm) while its height will reach approx. 52.5 (133 cm) which results in better storage possibilities.
The fully assembled unit is not extremely heavy. However, it still weighs approx. 96 lbs (43.5 kg), so its transport and assembly may require two people. But once it is fully set up, it can easily be moved as its front metallic base features a set of transportation wheels.
The unit’s track provides a walking surface of 47″L x 15.5″W (119 x 39 cm). It uses a heavy-duty rubber belt which provides excellent adherence. Evidently, it’s not a platform made for running at high speeds, but for walking and jogging, it should be enough for users up to 6’0″ (183 cm).
Even though it’s a rather basic treadmill, the Efitment T013 still is equipped with a pretty decent deck cushioning system which can reduce more than 20% of the workout impact. It integrates 8 cushions, 4 on each side of the deck. The ones placed at the center are thicker so that the deck absorbs more of the shock generated with each footstrike. This being said, a walk or jog on this machine is considerably more forgiving to your joints and back than the same exercising routine performed on asphalt or concrete.
Incline and step-up height
The Efitment T013 features a manual incline system similar to the one on the XTERRA Fitness TR150. It consists of two adjustable stabilizers placed at the rear of the deck. Each stabilizer has two positions which can be selected via a pop-pin. Evidently, since the incline system is manual, you cannot only adjust it if you step off the walking platform.
The machine’s incline system does not offer an extreme incline range. If you select the top position of the stabilizers, the deck will be horizontal (0°). The middle position provides an incline of approx. 0.5°, while if you remove the pin completely you will benefit from an incline of approx. 1°.
The running platform of the Efitment T013 treadmill is low profile. Regardless of the incline setup, its maximum height is approx. 4.5″ (11.4 cm) from the floor. This being said, stepping on and off the track can be done with ease. It is recommended, though, to place and use the unit in a room with a ceiling that is at least 10″ (25 cm) higher than your own height.
Drive motor
The Efitment T013 treadmill integrates an entry-level motor which offers a 1.5 peak horsepower. Needless to say, it’s not a high-performance motor as for the running treadmills, but it is powerful enough to sustain long walking or jogging workouts without overheating or losing performance. It also has a small flywheel which improves the overall stability of the rotation motion.
The motor offers a speed range between 0.5 and 7.5 MPH. Although the starting speed of the running belt is 0.5 MPH, the speed can be adjusted in increments of 0.1 MPH. This is quite a plus, as it allows you to find the perfect pace depending on your height and workout.
The console does not offer buttons for quick speed selection, as for the Efitment T012. It only has two + / – controls which allow you to adjust the speed of the belt gradually. Of course, if you choose to exercise by using one of the preset programs, the machine will auto-adjust the speed of the running belt.
Since the treadmill uses a basic motor, its power consumption is also minimal. This being said, even if you will be using it daily, it shouldn’t add more than a few dollars to the electricity bill. Also, the motor itself doesn’t generate a lot of noise when in use, but depending on how fast you go, your cadence may generate more or less noise.
Console
The Efitment T013 features a console with three LED displays which indicate speed/pulse, time, and calories/distance. Speed is shown in MPH, while distance is shown in miles. There is no option for setting them to metric units. Also, the console can only read your pulse if you hold on to the sensors built-in the side handlebars. It is not telemetric and does not work with any wireless HR chest strap transmitters.
The console offers 9 preset programs. Each program has a default duration of 10:00 and is divided into 10 intervals. The total duration of each program can be adjusted and each interval will last for 1/10 of the total duration. Differently put, if you leave the default 10 min. timer for the whole program, each interval will be 1 min.
Each program has different speed settings for each one of its 10 intervals. But just as the timer, the speed for each interval can be adjusted. Also, when a program is in use, the console will emit a beep signal when one of the intervals ends, allowing you to prepare for the automatic speed adjustment.
The console offers countdown modes for time, distance, and calories. If you select a goal value for any of these metrics, it will count down from it until it reaches zero.
A Body Mass Index function is also available. This being said, it gives you the possibility to input your personal data such as age, height, weight, and gender, and based on your input, it will calculate your BMI.
The console unit does not have online connectivity but does have Bluetooth function. This gives you the possibility to sync the console with your phone or tablet and play your music through the console speakers. There’s also an Aux port so you can connect your device to the console via cable. An Aux cable (3.5mm connector) is included with the treadmill.
Last but not least, the machine’s console features a pull-up device holder which is placed at the back of the console. This can accommodate any tablet or smartphone.
Assembly and Maintenance
The assembly of the machine is fairly simple. The deck with the motor, rollers, belt, and other elements comes pre-assembled. Thus, all you need to do is attach the two front upright bars with the handles, and then connect the console. This shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes. All the necessary assembly instructions are specified in the manual. Also, all the tools required for the assembly are included.
For maintenance, the lubrication of the walking belt is necessary. The console actually has a function that will prompt you to lubricate the belt after ever 188 miles traveled on the treadmill. It also needs to be lubricated before the first use. A bottle with silicone lubricant is included. Other than this, it’s recommended to keep the walking belt clean and periodically check for loose bolts and parts.
