The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7723 treadmill features a similar manual drive system to the Sunny SF-T7878 model that we’ve already reviewed here. It has a slightly longer running surface but does not include a fitness monitor. Of course, due to the lack of the monitor unit, this treadmill also costs approx. half the price of the SF-T7878 model.

Frame construction

The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7723 treadmill features a heavy-duty frame made of steel tubing. It combines oval, rectangular, and cylindrical tubes in its construction for improved sturdiness and aesthetics. All the steel tubes are coated with a rust-resistant and chip-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this treadmill at least for the moment.

The treadmill is not super large. With all the parts assembled, it is approx. 59″ (150 cm) long, and 27″ (69 cm) wide. Its highest point is given by the top of the front handlebar which reaches approx. 55″ (140 cm) above the floor. It is recommended, though, to leave at least two feet of clearance on each side of the deck, and at least three feet of clearance at the rear of the machine for safe usage.

The treadmill is foldable. Its deck can be folded up to save space. With the deck folded up, the machine’s length is reduced to approx. 31″ (79 cm) while its height gains approx. 3″ (7.6 cm). The folding mechanism uses a hydraulic cylinder that safely and slowly lowers the deck when you unfold it.

The machine is fairly heavy. Its net weight is approx. 110 lbs (50 kg). This being said, the transport of the packaged unit should be done by two people or at least by the means of a box carried. However, once it is assembled, it can easily be moved by only one person. Its front base frame features a set of small wheels that facilitate its relocation.

Deck construction

The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7723 treadmill offers a running area of 53″L x 16″W (135 x 41 cm). It is a bit longer than the running area of the SF-T7878 model, but it is approx. 1.5″ (3.8 cm) narrower. This being said, the machine should be able to accommodate comfortably users up to 6’2″ (188 cm). Taller users should still be able to use this treadmill but they may not benefit from a complete range of motion.

The machine integrates a durable running board. It is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 300 lbs (136 kg) which is not bad for a home-use machine. The deck integrates 8 shock absorption elements, 4 on each rail. This being said, the treadmill reduces some of the workout-generated impact. Plus, the inner running board has a bit of flex as well. So, a run or jog on this treadmill is considerably more forgiving on your joints and lower back than a run or jog on asphalt or concrete.

The tread belt is multi-layered featuring a non-slip, textured top layer. The internal rollers integrate high-grade ball bearings for a smooth and stable belt motion. The rear roller is a pretty much standard model. However, the front roller integrates two flywheels which are part of the machine’s resistance system.

The Sunny SF-T7723 treadmill doesn’t have an adjustable incline system as is the case for the ASUNA 7700 model. Its deck is fixed at an incline of 13.5%. It’s not a super high incline but it’s definitely enough to provide a considerably more consistent workout.

Last but not least, the front section of the running platform reaches approx. 12.5″ (32 cm) above the floor. Therefore, it is recommended to place and use this machine in a room with a ceiling that is at least 20″ (51 cm) higher than the tallest user.

Resistance system

To begin with, the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7723 is a “manual” treadmill. Therefore, you don’t need a power cord or an external power source for it. The speed of the belt depends on how fast you walk or run and the machine cannot automatically adjust it.

The machine is equipped with a magnetic resistance system that is up to a point similar to the one of an upright exercise bike. The front roller integrates two flywheels and one of them is connected to the tension dial on the left upright bar via a steel cable. By turning the dial clockwise, the internal magnetic brake moves closer to the flywheel which results in a higher belt movement difficulty.

The two flywheels attached to the front roller weigh 11 lbs (~5 kg) each. They not only add difficulty to the movement of the belt, but they also improve the overall motion stability and the smoothness of the ride. They are also perimeter-weighted for a consistent momentum.

The Sunny SF-T7723 treadmill offers 16 levels of resistance. The lowest level basically offers only the resistance generated by the weight of the two flywheels. But as you adjust the dial and increase the resistance, the belt becomes more and more difficult to move. Thus, the machine promotes high-intensity training and great possibilities to develop your stamina and strength.

Assembly and Maintenance

The machine’s running platform with the belt, rollers, resistance system comes pre-assembled. However, the rest of the parts do require user assembly. There are basically 6 assembly steps. You will have to attach the two front base bars with the wheels, unfold the deck, attach the side handlebar, the front handlebar, the middle handlebars, and finally tighten and secure all the bolts. This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes of your time. All the necessary tools are included and the manual provides clear step-by-step instructions.

For maintenance, it is recommended to keep the machine clean, especially the belt to prolong its lifespan. The belt requires lubrication before the first use and periodically afterwards. A bottle of silicone lubricant is included with the treadmill. Other than this, you only need to check for loose bolts and parts from time to time.
