Frame and deck
The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7632 is not a heavy-duty treadmill, like the SOLE F63, for example. However, it still features a steel frame with a deck that can support users up to 220 lbs (100 kg). All the steel tubes in its construction are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is gray, with the “Sunny” logo painted red. This is the only color available for this Sunny Health & Fitness treadmill.
Of course, the machine also integrates several ABS parts. The motor cover and casing, the side rail covers, and the console casing are made of durable ABS material.
The Sunny SF-T7632 features a pretty compact construction as well. With all the parts assembled, it is approx. 49.5″ (126 cm) long, and 26.5″ (67 cm) wide. It is recommended, though, to leave at least 24″ (61 cm) of clearance on each side, and at least 36″ (91 cm) of clearance at the rear of the deck, for safe usage.
The machine is also foldable. The deck folds up between the two upright bars. With the deck folded up, the machine’s footprint becomes 16″D x 26.5″W (41 x 67 cm), while its height becomes approx. 51″ (129 cm).
This treadmill is not extremely heavy. Its net weight is 75 lbs (34 kg), so it can be moved and assembled by only one person. Plus, its front base bars feature transport wheels which considerably ease its relocation.
Walking surface and incline
The Sunny SF-T7632 treadmill offers a walking surface of 44.5″L x 14″W (113 x 36 cm). It’s not very large, so a taller user may not benefit from a complete range of motion when running. But for walking, the machine should accommodate users up to 6’5″ (196 cm) with no problem.
The belt is multi-layered with the top layer designed to provide a non-slip grip. The exact diameter of the rollers is not specified, but since it’s a small machine, they’re probably less than 1.5″. Nonetheless, the rollers integrate sealed ball bearings for a smooth belt motion; they’re also crowned to promote a longer belt lifespan.
The machine’s deck doesn’t have the thick or adjustable cushioning elements of a commercial-grade treadmill but does integrate four pairs of cushions. They are all concealed by the side rail covers. The larger cushions are placed on each side of the foot strike area in order to absorb a greater amount from the impact generated during each step.
The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7632 treadmill features a fixed incline system. This means that its deck is always inclined and the incline cannot be adjusted. The walking platform features an incline of approx. 6.8°, or 11.9%. Considering that the walking platform is always inclined, this machine provides a more consistent workout than a treadmill with a standard (horizontal) walking platform as it always simulates an uphill walk or jog.
The machine’s deck doesn’t have a very high step-up height. At it’s highest point, the walking surface is at approx. 10″ (20 cm) above floor level, while at the rear, its height is approx. 4″ (10 cm). Therefore, you shouldn’t need to worry about ceiling height issues.
Drive motor
The Sunny SF-T7632 treadmill is equipped with a similar type of motor as the SF-T7610 model. It’s a light-capacity motor offering a peak power of 1.25 HP, but it is powerful enough to support prolonged workouts even if the user is close to the maximum weight capacity of 220 lbs (100 kg). Like most other treadmill motors, the one equipped on the Sunny SF-7632 integrates a small flywheel. This element adds stability and reduces belt and overall vibration during usage.
The motor offers a speed range between 0.5 MPH and 7.0 MPH. The console speed adjustment controls are bi-functional. A short press will adjust the speed of the belt in increments of 0.1 MPH while pressing and holding the key will adjust the speed in increments of 0.5 MPH. The console does not have quick selection buttons for speed, like the console of the ASUNA 8730, for example.
The motor itself is not too loud. Also, during a walking workout, your cadence can barely be heard. But nonetheless, depending on your weight, running technique, and other factors, when running at full speed, the noise generated by your cadence will become louder, but not loud enough to cover the sound of your TV on a moderate volume setting.
Of course, since this Sunny treadmill doesn’t have a super powerful motor, the power consumption is also minimal. As a general idea, even if you’ll be using it daily for more than one hour, your electricity bill should not increase by more than a few dollars.
Console
The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7632 includes a pretty basic console, without workout programs, Bluetooth, or other fancy features. It has an LCD display with blue LED backlight divided into four subsections in order to show all the important workout metrics at once. It indicates time, distance, speed, and calories burned. It does not have a pulse reading function and it is not telemetric, so it won’t be able to read your pulse from a Polar or ANT+ HR chest strap.
The console is very easy to use. It only has 5 buttons. Needless to say, the Start button sets the belt in motion while the Stop button allows you to pause your workout if needed. The Mode button provides access to the setup mode. In setup mode, you can select a workout goal for time, distance, or calories. If a workout goal is selected, the console will show the remaining value for that particular workout metric and will countdown until you complete your selected goal. The Mode button also allows you to select the workout metric that you want to view on the top display, or select the Scan Mode which rotates all the metrics on the top display showing each one for a few seconds. Finally, the Up/Down keys allow you to adjust the speed of the belt, or select values for your desired workout goals.
The console doesn’t have bottle trays, a tablet holder, or other features like integrated sound system. However, it does have a lubrication reminder function. It will notify you to lubricate the belt after every 188 miles by displaying an “OIL” icon.
Assembly and Maintenance
Most of the treadmill comes pre-assembled. The deck with the belt, the rollers, the motor, rail covers, and other parts, comes pre-assembled. The two upright bars are also already attached to the base frame. You only have to attach the front base frame extensions with the transport wheels, and the console. This shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes of your time. The task is fairly simple and the manual provides clear step-by-step instructions. A basic toolkit is also included.
For maintenance, it is important to keep the belt/deck lubricated. A bottle of lubricant is included and the console will notify you when lubrication is necessary. The belt should also be kept clean to prevent any textile fibers or other debris to be caught into the motor or the rollers. Other than this, you only have to periodically check the machine for loose or broken parts.
