The Sunny Evo-Fit SF-B2969 is one of the new exercise bikes released by Sunny Health & Fitness in 2020. It is the upright version of the Sunny Evo-Fit SF-RB4954 that we’ve already covered here. It has the same weight capacity, resistance system, and console, but has the construction of an upright bike, with a standard bike saddle.

Frame construction
The Sunny Health & Fitness Evo-Fit SF-B2969 features a sturdy steel frame combining ovalized and
cylindrical tubes in its construction. However, its base frame with all the drive and resistance elements is concealed by two large ABS guards. All the steel parts in the bike’s construction are coated with a rust-resistant paint finish; the colors used are black for the base bars and gray for the seat and handlebars upright posts. The ABS base frame guards are red and black. These are the only colors available for this bike (at least for the moment).
The Sunny SF-B2969 has a pretty compact construction, but compared to other upright bikes, such as the Harison B7, for example, it is a bit larger. It measures approx. 48″ (122 cm) in length, and 21″ (53 cm) in width. Plus, it is recommended to leave at least 24″ (61 cm) all around it, for safe usage.
The fully assembled bike is not extremely heavy but does weigh approx. 68 lbs (30.8 kg). This is considerably more than the weight of the average road bike, a weight that provides extra stability. Also, the bike’s rear base features adjustable stabilizers, while its front base is equipped with transport wheels for easy relocation
Seat and handlebars
The Sunny SF-B2969 Evo-Fit is equipped with a four-way adjustable seat. Its upright post has multiple adjustment positions while its horizontal slider offers a few extra inches of front-to-back
adjustment. Therefore, the bike can accommodate users between 5’1″ and 6’5″ (155 – 165 cm) with no problem allowing a complete range of motion. It is also rated for a maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs (136 kg).
The bike comes with a pretty standard saddle. Its top is made of a thick layer of PU material with an inner layer of foam padding. It’s pretty flexible in order to adapt to the movement of your body, and it top is contoured for extra breathability. It’s also important to mention that the saddle has a classic, collar-based connection system to the slider. Therefore, if you will ever need to replace it, you can find a compatible model in basically any bike shop.
The Sunny Health & Fitness Evo-Fit SF-B2969 is equipped with a multi-grip handlebar. It gives you the possibility to adopt a standard grip, a parallel grip, a climbing grip, and a racing grip. It is also adjustable, a feature that many other upright bikes don’t offer. It attaches to the upright post via a small knob that allows you to untighten it and change its angle, then re-lock it into position.
The whole handlebar is covered by a layer of rubber foam material in order to provide a secure and comfortable grip. The side grips also integrate metallic pulse sensors so the console can monitor your heart rate if you hold on to them.
Resistance and drive
This Sunny exercise bike is equipped with an eddy current resistance system. This means you need to
connect it to a power source (100-240V, 2.5 amps). A power adapter is included. Also, the console has multiple built-in workout programs and automatically adjusts the resistance.
The bike’s resistance system consists of a magnetic brake and a servo motor. When you adjust the resistance from the console keypad, or when you select a program that adjusts the resistance automatically, the servo motor will change the position of the magnetic brake in relation to the flywheel which will increase or reduce the pedaling difficulty.
The Sunny Health & Fitness Evo-Fit SF-B2969 offers 24 levels of resistance. The first 3 difficulty levels offer light resistance, great for recovery training, or a light warm-up. The 4-6 levels are for advanced aerobic exercise and burning calories The 7-10 levels are great for toning leg muscles and improving strength and stamina. And finally, the top levels allow you to achieve a higher calorie burn and an increased cardiovascular rate in a shorter period of time.
Similar to the SF-RB4954, the Sunny SF-B2969 Evo-Fit is equipped with a 7.7 lbs (3.5 kg) flywheel. Although it’s not super heavy like the flywheels of spin bikes, it does have a perimeter-weighted structure in order to provide a superior momentum. It is also bi-directional; therefore, you can pedal in reverse if you want.
Most exercise bikes equipped with a magnetic resistance system are equipped with a belt drivetrain, and the Sunny Evo-Fit SF-B2969 is no exception. It integrates a poly-v belt resistant to stretching and abrasion. This means you don’t have to take the drive unit apart in order to lubricate the drivetrain as it is required for a chain drive. Also, the belt drive mechanism contributes to the overall smoothness of the ride.
The bike is equipped with a durable 3-piece crankset. It features two cylindrical crank arms that are slightly longer than for most other upright bikes. The pedals are made of solid plastic material (probably polypropylene). They have a weighted design and adjustable straps. This being said, the bike’s crankset and pedals are probably durable enough to support standing up pedaling routines. But since this is an upright bike and not a spin bike, spin workouts are not recommended.
Console
The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B2969 is equipped with a multi-function console. Its features an LCD 
display divided into several subsections in order to show multiple workout metrics at once. It tracks time, distance, speed, calories, pulse, RPM, and watts. It also indicates room temperature when in idle mode.
Speed and distance are shown in English units (MPH and miles). For pulse reading, you will have to use the integrated sensors; the console is not telemetric and cannot read your pulse from a wireless strap.
The console offers multiple workout programs. To begin with, it has a Manual program that allows you to exercise freely, adjusting the resistance as you like during your workout. During the Manual program, you can also set targets for time, distance, calories, and pulse.
Next on the list are 12 pre-set programs. These have various segment layouts and give you the possibility to perform different workouts.
The Fitness Mode allows you to exercise under a fixed time and resistance level. The Watt program adjusts the resistance depending on your speed allowing you to maintain a certain constant watt output. The Personal program gives you the possibility to create your own program profiles. While the HRC programs adjust the resistance based on your pulse rate. There are 4 HRC programs set for 55%, 75%, 90%, and custom.
A Pulse Recovery function is also available. This counts your pulse at the end of your workout and based on the result it gives you a fitness rating between F1 (perfect) and F6 (poor).
Among other console features, we can count a USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, sound system, and cooling fan, and a tablet holder. The USB port only offers recharging possibilities for your phone or tablet. It doesn’t allow workout data transfer. The sound system consists of two speakers places one on each side of the unit. The Bluetooth function is for the sound system. It allows you to sync your smartphone with your bike, in order to play your music through the integrated speakers.
The cooling fan is integrated at the bottom center of the unit. It is not super powerful but does offer a bit of cooling if needed during the most intense workouts. And finally, the tablet holder is foldable; it is placed at the top of the console and can accommodate any tablet.
Assembly and Maintenance
The main body of the bike comes pre-assembled; all the drive and resistance elements are already attached to the base frame and covered by the side guards. Therefore, all you need to do for assembly is attach the two base bars, the front mast, the console, the handlebars, the seat post, the seat, and the pedals. This shouldn’t take more than an hour. All the necessary tools are included and the manual provides very clear assembly instructions.
Once the bike is assembled, you don’t have to worry too much about maintenance. The internal parts are pre-lubricated and they shouldn’t need any lubrication for a long period of time. The belt transmission doesn’t require lubrication. You only have to keep the bike clean and check for loose bolts and parts from time to time.
