Frame construction
The SportsRoyals adjustable power tower features a durable steel frame made of 1.5 mm steel. It combines oval and cylindrical tubes in its construction for improved sturdiness and aesthetics. All the steel tubes are double-coated with a corrosion-resistant and chip-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this home gym at least for the moment.
The unit’s base section features a triangular design which considerably improves its stability and sturdiness. The slanted base bars rest on large plates with plastic pads to prevent floor damage. The front and rear sections of the base area are also reinforced by horizontal cylindrical bars which can be used for push-ups or calf raises.
This power tower is not super heavy. It only weighs approx. 53.7 lbs (26 kg). This being said, it can be carried and assembled by only one person. However, it has a low center of gravity which considerably boosts stability.
The tower is not too large; with all the parts assembled, its footprint is only approx. 42″L x 28″W (107 x 71 cm). However, you will have to allow at least a few feet of clearance at the front of the unit, and at least one foot of clearance on each side, for ease of access and for the correct execution of each exercise.
The unit’s height is adjustable which is a plus, as many other power towers have a fixed height. The top sections of the upright bars slight into the bottom sections and are secured into position via two large knobs. The height adjustment span is 70″ – 92.7″ (177 – 235 cm). This being said, the unit should be able to accommodate users up to 6’8″ (203 cm) with no problem.
This power tower also offers a pretty impressive weight capacity. It is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 440 lbs (200 kg) which is quite great for a home-use machine. This means you can also perform weighted pull-ups, dips, or chin-ups as long as the total weight does not exceed 440 lbs (200 kg).
Workout stations
The SportsRoyals adjustable power tower makes available three main workout stations. These are the push-up station, the dip and leg raise station, and the pull-up station.
Pull-up station. As opposed to the previous tower version, this one features an upgraded pull-up station. It features dual grip bars at the top which connect to the main frame bar via two short cylindrical parallel bars. These can also be used for parallel grip pull-ups.
The pull-up bar grips feature PVC foam sleeves for improved contact. The outer grips are slightly curved down for a better hand positioning during wide grip pull-ups. The distance between the two outer grips is approx. 31.5″ (80 cm).
Dip and leg raise station. This SportsRoyals power tower is equipped with a sturdy ergonomic dip and leg raise station. To begin with, the dip arms are slanted backward by approx. 10° to provide a better positioning for the arms. They are equipped with foam cushions covered by a layer of durable vinyl material. The dip arms also have dual grips at their ends which are inward inclined by approx. 1°. The upright grips offer support for leg raise exercises, while the horizontal grips offer support for dips. Both grips have PVC foam sleeves similar to the ones on the pull-up bars.
The unit’s leg raise and dip station is equipped with an adjustable backrest. Its adjustment bar offers seven adjustment positions. Its upholstery is similar to the one on the dip arm cushions. It integrates a thick layer of foam padding and a durably vinyl cover. It’s important to mention here that the backrest only adjusts front-back; it does not adjust vertically.
Push-up station. The tower’s push-up station consists of a set of grips that attach to the front base bars. They have PVC foam sleeves for improved contact. They are adjustable, offering three angles for either parallel grip push-ups or oblique grip push-ups.
As we’ve mentioned above, the base bars of the tower are reinforced by horizontal cylindrical bars. These can also be used for push-ups or even calf raises.
