Frame construction
The ShareVgo SRM1000 rower features a steel frame with a sliding rail and seat designed to support users up to 300 lbs (136 kg). The only major non-steel parts in the machine’s construction are the side panels that cover its magnetic resistance mechanism and the footrests. All the steel bars in the unit’s construction are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish; the color used is light gray, this being the only color available for this machine.
The fully assembled machine is fairly large. It is approx. 82″ (209 cm) long and 19″ (48 cm) wide. Its rail is long enough to accommodate users with an inseam of at least 36″ (91.4 cm). So, differently put, the machine should fit users up to 6’5″ (196 cm) with no problem, allowing a complete leg extension.
Similar to other magnetic rowers, the SRM1000 features a folding frame. The rail with the seat can be folded up to offer better storage possibilities. With the rail folded up, the unit’s length is reduced to 39″ (99 cm) while its height becomes 52″ (132 cm).
The rower isn’t too heavy. It can be carried and assembled by only one person. Its rear stabilizer is equipped with adjustable levelers. Its front base integrates transport wheels for easy relocation.
Seat and other parts
The ShareVgo SRM1000 rower is equipped with a seat similar to the one on the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5854 model. Its top is made of high-density foam with a ribbed and contoured surface for improved comfort and stability. It is approx. 14″ (35.5 cm) wide, and 11″ (28 cm) deep, providing plenty of contact surface.
The base of the seat is steel-made for superior durability. It integrates three sets of wheels. Two of them slide on top of the rail while the other slides under it for improved stability. The wheels are equipped with sealed ball bearings for a smooth motion and they also have a rubber layer on the outside to reduce noise.
The rail of the rower has a few degrees of incline; it is not horizontal. This means that it provides a better workout for the legs and the recovery motion is a bit faster than for a rower with a completely horizontal rail. It also means that the seat is a bit higher from the floor level when extended all the way to the rear. At its highest point, it is at approx. 11″ (28 cm) above floor level.
This SRM1000 rower is equipped with a set of pivoting footrests. In other words, the machine’s footrests are not fixed or welded to the frame. They can pivot on their axis so you can slightly adjust the position of your feet during each stroke. They have stoppers at the heel, though, so they won’t tilt past more than approx. 50°.
The footrests are made of durable thermoplastic material. They are large enough to accommodate any athletic footwear. They also have heel guards and adjustable straps, so you can perfectly secure your feet on them.
The rower’s pulling handle consists of a short straight bar with rubber foam grips for extra comfort. It’s attached to a heavy-duty nylon mesh strap which provides a smooth operation. The pulling handle does not integrate any pulse sensors or resistance adjustment controls.
Resistance system
Similar to the Stamina 1110, or to the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5634 rower, the SRM1000 features a full-magnetic resistance system. It is not motorized, though, so you don’t have to connect your rower to a power source. But on the other hand, it does not have pre-set workout programs and does not adjust the resistance automatically.
The machine’s resistance system consists of a magnetic brake connected to the tension dial on top of the front unit of the machine. As you turn the knob, the brake changes its position in relation to the internal flywheel, which adds or reduces the workout load.
The rower offers 8 levels of resistance. The lowest level provides fairly low resistance, great for anyone who wants to regain their stamina, or for recovery training. Conversely, the 8th tension level gives you the possibility to burn more calories and achieve a high cardio rate in a shorter period of time.
It’s important to mention, that since the machine’s resistance system is full-magnetic and does not have an air fan or a water tank, it does not provide a dynamic response during rowing. In other words, the resistance only depends on the magnetic brake. It does not increase if you row faster as it is the case for a water resistance rower or an air resistance rower. But nonetheless, the machine does provide a very consistent, full-body cardio workout just like most other rowers.
Since the machine’s resistance is full-magnetic, its usage generates very little noise. The brake doesn’t touch the flywheel and there is no fan to make a noise. This is pretty much a plus characteristic to all magnetic resistance rowers.
Performance monitor
The ShareVgo SRM1000 rower is equipped with a basic performance monitor. It does not have any pre-set workout programs. It only has an LCD display that tracks time, strokes, and total strokes. It does not have a pulse reading function or goal settings. It only features one button which allows you to select the workout value that you want to view on the display, or to select the Scan Mode which rotates all the values showing each one for a few seconds.
On the other hand, the rower has a built-in Bluetooth module. Therefore, you can sync it with your smartphone or tablet via the ShareVgo Fitness App. This app is free and available at the App Store or from Google Play. The app offers the possibility to add goals to your workouts, track your calories burned, view your workout history, keep track of your progress, and compete with other users.
The machine’s integrated performance monitor is battery-powered. It requires 2 AAA batteries which are not included. It starts up when you begin rowing, and also automatically turns off after a few minutes of inactivity on the machine.
Assembly and Maintenance
The machine’s resistance system comes pre-assembled, attached to the front frame section, and secured by the ABS panels. However, the rest of the parts do require user assembly. You will basically have to attach the rail to the main unit, insert the seat on the rail, add the rear stabilizer, the front stabilizer, and the footrests. This shouldn’t take more than an hour, though, and the manual provides pretty clear assembly instructions. A set of basic tools is also included.
For maintenance, you don’t really have to do much. The internal are pre-lubricated. The main aspect to have in mind for maintenance is keeping the machine’s rail clean, free of dust, textile fibers or small objects that may damage the wheels of the seat, or cause nicks into the rail. Also, a periodic check for loose parts and bolts is recommended.
