The NordicTrack C 590 Pro can be compared with the Horizon Fitness T101 in terms of features. Both offer a similar speed range and motor power, automatic incline, and both have a LED type display. Frame and deck
The NordicTrack C 590 Pro treadmill features a steel frame with several ABS plastic covers. The deck is quite
durable; it’s designed to support users up to 300 lbs (136 kg). All the steel parts in its construction are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, with the “NordicTrack” logo painted white on the console support bars.
The fully assembled machine is fairly heavy. It weighs approx. 190 lbs (86 kg). This being said, it offers excellent stability. However, it does not have adjustable stabilizers on its bases. The rear base rests on two large stabilizers and the front base on two large rubber pads. It still is recommended, though, to place it on a rubber mat. The unit’s front base frame is also equipped with two transport wheels.
Although it is a mid-range treadmill, the NordicTrack C 590 is fairly large. It is approx. 70″ (178 cm) long, and 30″ (83 cm) wide. Plus, just as for any other treadmill, it is recommended to allow at least two feet of clearance on each side of it, and at least three feet of clearance at its rear for safe usage and easy access.
The unit’s deck is foldable. Its folding mechanism does not have a soft-drop system, though. When folding and unfolding the deck, you have to lift it or lower it yourself all the way. The deck also has a latch mechanism with a knob that secures it in an upright position to the left upright bar.
The machine’s deck is equipped with an adjustable cushioning system. There are two cushioning elements visible on each side of the deck. You can rotate each one left or right in order to increase or decrease the firmness of the running platform depending on your weight, or the workout type you want to perform.
Last but not least, this treadmill offers a running platform of 55″L x 18″ (140 x 46 cm). It’s not the largest running platform but does offer plenty of space and range of motion for users up to 6’2″ (188 cm). The included belt has a multi-ply structure with a non-slip, rubber layer and its internal rollers are crowned for improved traction and for an improved belt lifespan.
Incline and step-up height
The NordicTrack C 590 Pro is equipped with a motorized incline system. This means you can adjust the 
incline of the deck while you are exercising. Also, the machine has several workout programs that adjust the incline automatically.
The incline system consists of a small lift element placed at the front of the deck and a separate motor from the drive motor. As you adjust the incline, the motor controls the lift elevating or lowering the front side of the deck.
The treadmill’s incline range is 0% – 10%, with increments of 1%. The console has controls for gradual incline adjustment and quick incline selection. The quick controls cover all the position settings from 0 to 10, except position 1.
The deck has a step-up height of approx. 8″ (20 cm) at 0% incline, and will raise by a few inches when the incline is set at 10%. Differently put, in order to avoid any ceiling height issues, before ordering this ProForm treadmill make sure that the ceiling height in the room where you will be using it, exceeds your own height by at least 20″ – 22″ (51 – 53 cm).
Drive motor
The NordicTrack C 590 Pro treadmill is equipped with a 2.6 CHP DurX motor designed to support long running sessions at high speeds without losing performance. It’s equipped with a cooling mechanism and has a small flywheel for improved motion stability.
The unit’s motor offers a speed range between 0.5 MPH and 10 MPH. Just as for the incline, the console offers controls for gradual speed adjustment and quick speed adjustment. The quick speed selection buttons are placed on the right side of the console and cover all the main speed settings from 1 to 10 MPH. The gradual speed adjustment controls have a double function. A quick press adjusts the speed by 0.1 MPH, while if held down the speed adjusts in 0.5 MPH increments.
The drive motor itself does not generate a lot of noise. However, just as for any treadmill, the cadence does generate the characteristic “thumping” sound, especially if you engage in a running workout. However, even so, running on this treadmill shouldn’t cover the sound of your TV or sound system.
Console
The NordicTrack C 590 Pro treadmill is equipped with a LED type console with large digits. It tracks 
time, distance, calories, calories per hour, pace, and pulse. It also indicates the speed and incline settings. Speed and distance can be displayed in either metric or English units. Also, for the pulse reading function, you can either use the integrated sensors or any Bluetooth HR chest strap transmitter.
The console is iFit ready, and as you turn on the machine for the first time, it will prompt you to go to iFit and sync your smartphone or tablet with it via the Bluetooth connection and the iFit–Smart Cardio Equipment app (for iOS and Android). An iFit membership is not included with the machine, but in case you already have one, or you want to purchase one, you will be able to use interactive iFit workouts, run on virtual trails based on GoogleMaps, track your progress online, share it on social media, and more.
However, the iFit setup is not necessary. You can skip it by pressing and holding the iFit button (the one next to the display that looks like a sticker) for one minute. This way, the console should go directly to the manual mode.
Leaving aside the iFit features, the console has its own preset workout programs. Some have an interval-based layout, others focus on losing weight, and others aim to help you improve your stamina. There are buttons on the console for Calorie, Interval, Intensity, and Speed programs. Each button basically covers a few programs with a similar workout outcome.
The console also offers several other notable features. To begin with, it incorporates two speakers and an AUX port so you can connect your smartphone or tablet to the console and play your music through the speakers, for a bit of extra sound depth and volume. The console dashboard features two accessory or bottle trays, one on each side. And finally, it also features a small shelf under the main display which can serve as a phone or tablet holder.
Assembly and Maintenance
For most treadmills, the deck with the belt, motors and all the other drive elements comes pre-assembled; the NordicTrack C 590 Pro is no exception. You only need to attach the two upright bars, the median reinforcement bar the connects them, and the console with the handlebars. This shouldn’t take more than an your. The manual provides all the necessary assembly instruction. Also, a basic tool kit is included.
The machine’s belt comes pre-lubricated with a high-performance lubricant so it shouldn’t need any lubrication at least for a good while. So, for maintenance, you should only keep the belt clean, adjust the belt if necessary, and periodically check for loose bolts and parts.
