The Efitment T017 manual treadmill shares quite a few similarities with the Sunny SF-T7878 model. However, it has fewer resistance levels and lower weight capacity. It’s more affordable, though, and has a set of mobile handlebars for arm exercises.

Frame and parts

The Efitment T017 features a steel frame combining cylindrical and ovalized bars in its construction. It is a light-capacity treadmill, though; its deck is rated for users up to 220 lbs (100 kg). Of course, the unit also has several ABS parts. The most notable ones are the flywheel assembly cover and the side rail covers.

All the steel parts in its construction are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this model.

The fully assembled unit is not too heavy, compared to most other motorized treadmills. However, it does weigh approx. 73.5 lbs (33.3 kg), so its transport may require two people. Once it is assembled, it can easily be carried by using the two wheels integrated into its front base.

The Efitment T017 is not a large treadmill either. It is approx. 54″ (137 cm) long, and 35.5″ (90 cm) wide. Plus, it has a folding design. The deck can be folded up, which reduces its overall length by approx. 65% while its height gains a few inches. For the unfolded unit, it is recommended to leave at least two feet of clearance on each side, and at least three feet of clearance at the rear, for safe usage.

The treadmill’s deck does not have an internal cushioning system. However, the running board is not completely rigid; it does offer a bit of flex, so walking or running on this machine is considerably more forgiving on your joints compared to running or walking on cement or asphalt.

The T017 treadmill is equipped with a durable belt that provides a walking surface of approx. 41.7″L x 13.3″W (106 x 34 cm). This should be enough for users up to 6’0″ (183 cm). In fact, it’s not recommended for taller users as the two moving arms may also be too short.

Finally, this Efitment manual treadmill features two moving handlebars for arm exercises. Their grips are curved inward at the top for a more comfortable hand positioning. They also have ball grips at the top. Each handlebar is equipped with an adjustable knob at its base which gives you the possibility to adjust their tension.

Incline and step-up height

First of all, the walking platform of the Efitment T017 is always inclined. It cannot be set in a horizontal position. However, the incline is adjustable. The incline system requires manual adjustment. This being said, you cannot adjust it as you walk on it. It consists of an adjustable rear bar which offers three positions. The incline increments are 7%, 8%, and 9%.

Considering that the adjustment bar is placed at the rear, the height of the deck cannot be adjusted at the front. This being said, the front of the deck is always at approx. 14″ (35.5 cm) above floor level. This being said, it is recommended to use this treadmill in a room with a ceiling height that is at least 15″ (38 cm) higher than your own height.

Conversely, the rear section of the deck is at approx. 3.5″ (9 cm) above floor level. Therefore, stepping up on the walking belt shouldn’t be too difficult. With the incline all the way up, the rear section of the deck gains approx. two extra inches.

Resistance system

As the title suggests, the Efitment T017 is not a motorized treadmill. This means the belt is set in motion when you begin walking on it. It also means that the speed of the belt depends on how fast you walk or run on it. You cannot adjust it automatically from the console.

On the other hand, the treadmill has a manual magnetic resistance system. This gives you the possibility to add difficulty to the ride. The resistance system consists of a magnetic brake which is connected to the tension knob on the right upright bar through a steel cable. By turning this knob clockwise, the magnetic brake moves closer to the right flywheel, which increases the resistance.

It’s important to mention that since it’s not a motorized treadmill, the Efitment T017 has a slightly different construction for its front roller. This element is equipped with two flywheels that improve the stability of the ride. Plus, as we’ve mentioned above, the flywheel on the right is part of the unit’s resistance system.

There are 8 resistance levels available on this treadmill. The lowest level basically offers only the resistance generated by the weight of the two flywheels. But as you adjust the knob and increase the resistance, the belt becomes more and more difficult to move, and the difference between the 1st level and the 8th level is quite noticeable.

Exercise meter

Since the Efitment T017 is not a motorized treadmill, its console does not play any role in the belt speed adjustment or the resistance adjustment. It’s basically only a fitness meter. It features an LCD display that tracks time, distance, total distance, calories, speed, and pulse. Speed and distance are shown in English units (MPH and miles); there is no setting for metric units. Also, the unit can only track your pulse if you hold on to the sensors integrated into the fixed handgrips of the treadmill. It is not telemetric and does not work with any HR chest straps or armbands.

The meter unit very easy to use. It has three buttons – SET, MODE, and RESET. The MODE button allows you to select any of the workout metrics mentioned above so you can view it on the display at all times, or to select the Scan Mode which automatically rotates all the metrics showing each one for 4 seconds.

The SET button gives you the possibility to set up goal values for time, distance, and calories. Therefore, when a goal is selected, the console will countdown from the selected value until it reaches 0. This function can help if you want to gradually increase your workload from a session to another. And finally, the RESET button clears all the values on the meter to 0.

Finally, the meter unit is battery-powered. It requires 2 AA (1.5V) batteries. It starts up when you press any of the buttons or when it detects belt movement. It also shuts down automatically after 4 minutes of inactivity on the machine to save battery.

Assembly and Maintenance

The deck with the belt, the rollers, the magnetic brake, and the rear incline bar comes pre-assembled. However, you still need to connect the two upright bars to the front base bar, attach the front base with the uprights to the deck, add the front cover, the moving arms, the fixed handlebars, and the console. This may take up to an hour of your time. However, it is far from being a complicated task; the manual provides clear assembly instructions and schematics. Also, all the tools necessary for the assembly are included.

For maintenance, belt lubrication is required. It is recommended to lubricate it after every 50 hours of use or whenever friction occurs. Other than this, the belt should be kept clean and you should periodically check for loose bolts and parts.
