Frame and deck
Considering the motor capacity and the dimensions of the tread belt, the Efitment T012 can be classified as a “light” treadmill; however, when it is fully assembled, the machine is not exactly light. It’s built on a steel frame and weighs approx. 112 lbs (~51 kg). However, its relocation shouldn’t be too difficult once it is assembled, as the metallic front base is equipped with transport wheels. The rear “feet” of the deck also incorporate wheels. While for extra stability, the front metallic base has four conical rubber pads on which the machine rests.
The Efitment T012 is not an extremely large running machine; it takes 63″L x 27″W (160 x 69 cm) of floor space, being approx. 10-15 inches shorter than other models, such as the ProForm Performance 400i, for example. On top of that, it has a folding frame. The base of the deck is equipped with a hydraulic cylinder which assists you with lowering the deck. And with the deck folded up its dimensions become 36″L x 27″W x 57″H (91 x 69 x 145 cm).
The deck has a fairly sturdy construction, but since it’s not a heavy-duty machine, and made only for light workouts, it’s only rated for a user weight up to 220 lbs (100 kg).
The Efitment T012 treadmill is equipped with a durable, 1-ply rubber belt which offers a walking surface of 47″L x 15.6″W (120 x 40 cm). This should be enough for walking and light jogging, but if running at 9 MPH (the maximum speed provided by the motor) a taller user, over 6’0″ (183 cm) may find the running surface a bit short and may often step on the motor case. The belt rolls over two mid-size rollers which integrate industrial grade ball bearings, for a smooth motion.
Although the machine’s deck doesn’t integrate a dedicated cushioning system such as the Horizon Fitness T101-04, it still has four long silicone pads (two on each side) which absorb some of the shock generated during the workout. So, these being said, a walk or jog on this machine generates a lesser impact on your joints than a walk or jog on concrete or asphalt.
One last aspect to mention here regards the machine’s paint finish. All the steel parts are double coated with a corrosion-resistant and scratch resistant powder finish. The color used is dark gray, with the logo and part number of the machine painted on the base in black/blue.
Incline and step-up height
The Efitment T012 treadmill is equipped with a motorized incline system, which means that the angle of the deck can only be adjusted from the machine’s console. The incline system consists of a motor and a small lever at the front of the deck. As you select a certain incline level from the console, the motor will power the lever which slightly lifts the front of the deck.
This Efitment treadmill offers 15 levels of incline. The incline range is 0% – 10%. The adjustment increments aren’t equal. They range between 0.3% and 0.5%. And in case you’re wondering, the maximum 10% incline provided by the deck is equivalent to a ramp of approx. 5.6°. So, as a small conclusion here, the machine doesn’t offer an extreme incline as a commercial treadmill. But still, having this feature offers the possibility to add some intensity to your workouts and achieve a higher burn.
The machine’s console has several programs which involve incline. Therefore, when using one of these programs, the deck’s incline will auto-adjust automatically. Also, the console has quick keys for the selection of the 3, 6, and 12 incline levels.
With the deck set at 0% incline, the step-up height is approx. 9″ (23 cm). Adjusting the incline all the way to maximum will result in an elevation of a few inches at the front. Therefore, to avoid any ceiling height issues, it’s best to place and use the treadmill in a room with a ceiling that’s at least 15″ higher than your own height.
Motor
The Efitment T012 treadmill is equipped with an entry-level motor which offers a 2.2 peak horsepower. It’s not a high-performance motor as the one equipped on the 3G Cardio Elite, for example, but it is powerful enough to sustain long walking or jogging workouts.
The motor offers a speed range between 0.5 and 9.0 MPH. Although the starting speed of the running belt is 0.5 MPH, the speed can be adjusted in increments of 0.1 MPH. This is quite a plus, as it allows you to find the perfect pace depending on your height and workout. The console also provides quick selection keys for the speed settings of 2, 4, and 6 MPH.
Just as for incline, if you choose to exercise by using one of the onboard programs, the machine will auto-adjust the speed of the running belt. So, these being said, some of the programs will auto-adjust both the incline of the deck and the speed of the belt.
Last but not least, since it’s a basic motor, its power consumption is also minimal. In other words, even if you will be using it daily, it shouldn’t add more than a few dollars to the electricity bill. Also, the motor itself doesn’t generate a lot of noise when in use, but depending on how fast you go, your cadence may generate more or less noise.
Control unit
This Efitment treadmill comes with a mid-range console equipped with a large LCD display with LED backlight. The display indicates time, distance, speed, incline, calories, and heart rate. It has a step count reading which other machines do not offer. Also, the mid-section of the display shows the distance traveled as a running track, each lap being 0.25 miles or the segments of a pre-set program.
Distance and speed are only shown in miles and MPH. In order to track your heart rate, you must hold on to the sensors integrated into the side handlebars, as the console is not telemetric and cannot work with wireless chest strap transmitters. Also, there is a countdown function for time, distance, and calories.
The machine’s console offers 10 programs to keep you motivated. The first 9 (P1-P9) are preset interval programs. The speed and incline settings for each one of these programs are adjustable. The 10th program covers the Body Mass Calculation function. This program will prompt you to input personal data such as gender, age, height, and weight in order to calculate your Body Mass Index. The Body Mass Index is used to test the relation between your height and weight.
The console unit has a Bluetooth feature, however, this may be a bit of a letdown; the Bluetooth connection is only for the integrated sound system. As we’ve mentioned above, the console is not telemetric and cannot communicate with a Bluetooth HR chest strap transmitter. Also, it is not compatible with any online fitness tracking apps, such as MyFitnessPal or FitBit, so you won’t be able to stream and save your workout data online.
A sound system, a tablet holder, and two bottle/accessory trays are features integrated into the console and its dashboard. The sound system consists of two speakers one on each side of the console’s keypad. This sound system is compatible with most MP3 players, smartphones, or tablets. The sound rendered by it is not of extreme quality, but it’s definitely better than the sound generated by a tablet or smartphone integrated speaker. You can connect your music device to the machine’s console via cable or by using the Bluetooth connection.
The tablet holder is placed above the console’s keypad. It’s long enough to accommodate just about any tablet. However, a tablet placed on it will cover the console display.
Assembly and Maintenance
The machine’s deck comes pre-assembled. The motors, base-deck, rollers, belt and other internal parts are already assembled, and attached to the front metallic frame. Therefore, the assembly task only requires you to add the front console masts and then the console. This shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. The manual offers all the necessary assembly instructions, and a basic toolkit is also included.
In terms of maintenance, the deck requires to be lubricated before the first use, and from then on, it should be done every 2-3 months. Keeping the belt clean is also important, in order to prevent any fibers or other objects to be caught into the motor. Other than these, it’s recommended to periodically check for loose parts and bolts and re-center the belt if necessary.

If the belt is too tight, you should loosen it, apply the lubricant on the deck, and then re-tighten it.
