Titan MAGROW Check Discounted Price | L:60" W:22.5" H:19" | 250 lbs | 50 lbs | Magnetic | 1 year limited |
There’s only one rowing machine sold under the brand name of Titan Fitness at the moment. Its manufacturer part number (MPN) is MAGROW (which basically stands for “magnetic rower”), so in this review, we’ll refer to it by its MPN.
The Titan Fitness MAGROW is an entry level rower, available at an affordable price, featuring a manual magnetic resistance system, without any air resistance elements, such as the LifeCore R100, for example. In terms of specs, it’s similar to the Sunny SF-RW5515, but it’s slightly smaller.

Frame construction and parts
The Titan Fitness MAGROW combines steel, aluminum and PVC parts in its construction. Its track is made of aluminum, while the base stabilizers are steel made. The footrests, resistance system covers, seat and foot caps are made of heavy-duty PVC material. The machine’s metallic parts are coated with corrosion resistant silver paint.
Although the machine has a mostly metallic frame construction, it is not too heavy. With the frame fully assembled it weighs only 50 lbs (22.6 kg). In other words, it’s easy to assemble and transport.
Compared to other magnetic rowing machines, such as the Marcy NS-40503RW for example, the Titan MAGROW is smaller lengthwise. Its assembled footprint is 60″L x 22.5″W (153 x 57 cm); its widest point is given by its front base.
The machine’s frame does not fold. However, it can be stored vertically, resting on its front base and the small rubberized stabilizer on the top of the resistance system enclosure.
The rower’s aluminum track is slightly inclined; its rear end stands approx. 8″ high above floor level. This comes with two main benefits. One, the recovery part of the rowing motion is completed faster and with less resistance. Two, it provides a slightly more consistent workout for the leg muscles during the drive motion. The track’s length is 32″ (81.2 cm), which means that it can accommodate users with an inseam of approx. 26″ (66 cm). Taller users should be able to use this machine as well, but they may not benefit from a complete leg extension. Also, the track and the seat are rated for a maximum weight capacity of 250 lbs (113.3 kg).
The Titan Fitness magnetic rowing machine is equipped with a standard seat. Its top is made of durable PVC material; it does not integrate any cushioning, but its surface is ribbed, in order to provide more adherence during rowing. The structural frame of the seat is made of steel, though. It integrates a set of wheels with a silicone coating and heavy-duty ball bearings for a smooth and quiet operation. In case you’re wondering, the seat’s dimensions are 9.75″L x 12.5″W (24.7 x 31.7 cm).
The footrests are also made of durable PVC. They’re not completely fixed onto the frame; they can slightly pivot back and forth, adapting to your foot position with each stroke. Just as the seat, they have a ribbed surface for increased adherence, heel guards and adjustable straps to provide maximum foot stability. They’re 10″ (25.4 cm) long and 4 1/4″ (10.7 cm) wide, being able to accommodate athletic shoes of all sizes.
Last but not least, the machine’s pulling handle is a 16″ (40.6 cm) long bar, coated with rubber foam material to provide a secure and comfortable grip.
Resistance system
The Titan Fitness MAGROW features a manual magnetic resistance system. Differently put, its resistance system consists of a small flywheel and a magnetic element connected to the resistance knob on top of the machine’s frame via a steel wire. By turning the knob clockwise, the magnetic element moves closer to the flywheel creating more resistance.
The machine offers 8 distinctive resistance levels. The first two levels provide a light workout, while the 7-8 settings deliver quite a consistent tension, offering the possibility to undertake an intense training regimen.
The machine’s resistance is not correlated in any way with its console. The console runs on batteries and does not play any role for the resistance adjustment.
One last aspect to mention here regards the rowing feel. Given the fact that this Titan rowing machine doesn’t have any air resistance elements, such as the Sunny SF-RW5623 for example, the rowing motion doesn’t have a “dynamic response”. In other words, the resistance doesn’t vary with how hard or fast you pull, remaining constant, determined by the selected resistance level. This basically stands for any magnetic rowing machine. Thus, the rowing feel is less “natural”. Due to this fact, this rowing machine may not be the best choice for a professional rowing athlete. But nonetheless, it can still help you achieve a consistent, full-body cardio workout.
Exercise meter
Evidently, since it’s a budget rowing machine, the Titan Fitness MAGROW is equipped with a rather basic fitness meter. The unit can track your workout time, stroke count, total stroke count, strokes per minute and calories burned. Distance (in meters or miles) or speed are not covered by this fitness meter. However, as a general idea, it’s considered that 1 stroke is equal to 1 and 1/2 meters.
The meter unit is easy to use. It has only one button which covers all of its functions. It has a SCAN function which rotates the machine’s values, showing each one on-screen for a few seconds. By pressing and holding the button you can reset all the values to zero.
The unit is battery powered. It’s turned on when it detects seat movement; it also has a sleep mode to which will enter if it doesn’t detect any activity on the machine for several minutes.
Assembly and Maintenance
The machine’s assembly only has a few steps. You will need to connect the track to the main frame, then add the seat, the stabilizers and finally the footrests. The whole task shouldn’t take more than 30-40 min. The manual supplied provides pretty clear step-by-step assembly instructions, and the tools required are also included.
Maintenance doesn’t require much. The internal parts do not need any additional lubrication. They come pre-lubricated from the factory and should remain that way for a long period of use. The main aspect to have in mind for maintenance and prolonging the life of the machine is keeping the gliding rail free of sand, dirt or small objects that may cause nicks on it, or damage the rollers. Also, a periodic check for loose parts and bolts is recommended.
