Frame construction
The Soozier A90-209 treadmill features a steel frame combining oval and rectangular tubes in its construction. All the steel parts are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish; the color used is gray, this being the only color available for this treadmill at least for the moment.
The machine also integrates several parts made of ABS and PP plastic. Some of the most notable ones are the motor cover, the side rail covers, and the dashboard. These are mostly black, in order to fit the overall color theme of the machine.
The treadmill is fairly light. Its net weight is only 71 lbs (32 kg). This being said, it can easily be moved and handled by only one person. It also has a set of small wheels integrated into its front base for easy relocation. Its base stabilizers are non-adjustable, though. The unit rests on a set of six pads, two at the front, two at the middle, and two at the rear.
The treadmill is not too large either. With all the parts assembled, it is approx. 49.25″ (125 cm) long, and 23.5″ (60 cm) wide. This being said, it can fit pretty well into a small room or apartment. However, it is recommended to allow at least a few feet of clearance at the rear and on each side of the machine, for easy access and safe usage.
Last but not least, this Soozier treadmill is foldable. Its upright posts with the console dashboard can fold all the way down over the deck. The two upright bars can easily be locked and unlocked via two knobs. The machine can be stored vertically against a wall.
Deck construction
The Soozier A90-209 treadmill features a fairly sturdy deck. It is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 264 lbs (120 kg) which is pretty decent for a home-use machine. It’s important to mention, though, that this treadmill does not have an incline system. Thus, you cannot adjust the angle of the running surface.
The machine’s deck is cushioned. Although it does not have large cushions visible on the sides of the deck as is the case for the FYC JK43-5 treadmill, it does have several shock absorption elements integrated into the deck, concealed by the side rail covers. These reduce some of the workout impact which results in less workout-related pain on your joints or lower back.
The treadmill offers a rather small running surface. Its active area is 41.25″ (105 cm) long, and 16.5″ (42 cm) wide. This being said, it may not offer the required range of motion for users over 6’2″ (188 cm), especially for running. However, for walking, the machine should fit even taller users.
The Soozier A90-209 treadmill is equipped with a 5-layer belt. The top layer is rubberized and highly resistant to wear and tear. The second layer is meant to reduce noise, the third layer improves the belt’s structural strength. The fourth layer adds to the overall shock absorption of the running surface. And finally, the bottom layer features a texture that enables the belt to stick better to the rollers.
The exact diameter of the integrated rollers is not specified. Needless to say, since it’s a small treadmill, they are not super-thick either. However, they have a crowned design that is meant to prolong the lifespan of the belt and improve traction. They also integrate high-grade, lubricated ball bearings.
Drive motor
The Soozier A90-209 treadmill is an electric treadmill. This means you will have to connect it to a power source in order to power up the console and set the belt in motion. It comes with a power cord and a US standard plug. The connection port for the power cord is at the front of the deck and there is also an On/Off switch next to it. The unit’s voltage rating is AC100-120V.
The machine is equipped with a 0.75 HP motor. Needless to say, it’s not a super powerful motor but does offers a fairly decent speed range and performance. It shouldn’t overheat or lose performance even if running at full speed for a couple of hours. However, it is recommended to let it rest for a few minutes after every two hours of continuous use.
The unit’s motor offers a speed range of 1 – 12 km/h (0.6 – 7.5 MPH). The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 km/h, so you can easily adjust your pace when you increase or decrease the speed of the belt. The console only has +/- buttons for gradually adjusting the speed; it does not have quick speed selection settings, so if you want to run at 10 km/h, you will have to hold down the + button until the speed reaches this level.
The machine’s motor is pretty quiet. Even if the machine is set to the highest speed level, the motor does not generate too much noise. However, depending on your running gear, running technique, weight, type of flooring, and other factors, your cadence may generate more or less noise. Thus, even though the motor is not too loud, people may still hear you when you run this machine.
Console
The Soozier A90-209 treadmills is equipped with a pretty basic console. It features a 2-window LCD display with blue LED backlight. The left window indicates the distance traveled. The right, larger window shows speed, time, and calories burned.
Speed and distance are shown in metric units (km/h and kilometers). There is no option for setting them to imperial units (MPH and miles). The console does not have a pulse reading function. Although the machine’s handrails feature integrated metallic bands that look like pulse sensors, the console does not track pulse. It also does not have a step count function and a watts reading.
The console does not have Bluetooth or online connectivity; it also isn’t compatible with any fitness apps. However, it does have 12 built-in pre-set programs which you can select from the M key on the dashboard. Needless to say, when a program is in use, the machine will auto-adjust the speed, depending on the segment of the program. The 12 training programs have different layouts; some focus on helping you lose weight, others provide a light workout, while others feature an interval-type layout.
The console doesn’t have features such as a sound system, workout fan, or a USB charging port. However, the machine’s dashboard does have a large groove at the front which can serve as support for your phone or tablet.
Assembly and Maintenance
The Soozier A90-209 treadmill comes almost completely assembled. You only have to unbox it, unfold it, and secure the upright bars with the dashboard and console in their usage position. This shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes of your time. All the necessary tools are included and the manual provides clear assembly instructions.
For maintenance, the belt requires periodic lubrication. The manual provides all the necessary instructions on how and when to lubricate it. Other than this, you only have to keep the unit clean, especially the belt, to prevent any debris or textile fibers from being caught into the motor.
