Frame construction

The Soozier A91-145 features a pretty standard frame made of rectangular steel tubing. All the steel parts of the frame are coated with a corrosion-resistant and chip-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this model, at least for the moment. The only parts that are not painted are the safety bars and catchers. These are made of stainless steel.

The fully assembled cage is not super large. It is approx. 61″ (155 cm) long, and 46.5″ (118 cm) wide. It is recommended, though, to allow at least three feet of clearance on each side of the unit, and at least four feet at the front, for easy access and to be able to execute all exercises without any hindrance.

The unit’s height is approx. 86.5″ (220 cm). This being said, the A91-145 won’t fit in a room with a 7-foot ceiling. Also, the ceiling should allow at least one foot above the cage so that you can perform all the pull-up exercises correctly.

The four upright bars of the cage have 26 adjustment positions each for the catch bars and the safety bars. The lowest one is at approx. 20.75″ (53 cm) above the floor, while the highest one is at 66″ (170 cm). The diameter of the adjustment holes is 1.96″ (4.97 cm), while the distance between them is 2″ (5.08 cm).

The unit is pretty heavy as well. With all the parts assembled, it weighs approx. 200 lbs (90.7 kg). Therefore, it provides plenty of stability itself, so you won’t have to anchor it to the floor. Its base bars do not have pre-drilled holes for this purpose, but they do have plastic caps and rubber pads for extra protection and stability.

Workout stations

Like any other power cage with a lat attachment, the Soozier A91-145 has five workout stations. These are:

Main cage. Needless to say, the cage itself gives you the possibility to perform squats, curls, shrugs, or other exercises while safely using a heavy barbell. A barbell and weight plates are not included with the unit, but as a general idea, it is designed for usage with 7-foot Olympic barbells.

Pull-up station. The Soozier A91-145 features a multi-grip pull-up station that attaches to the top rear bar of the frame. It offers the possibility to perform all kinds of pull-up and chin-up exercises with a wide grip, close grip, and parallel grip. Its side grips have PVC foam sleeves for improved contact. The front top bar of the cage can also be used for pull-ups as it is cylindrical. However, it does not have any extra grips.

High-pulley station. This is the primary workout station for the lat machine. It offers the possibility to perform lat pull-downs, tricep press-downs, and a multitude of other high-pulley cable exercises. A lat bar is included with the set. It is approx. 38″ (96.5 cm) wide and has curved grips with PVC sleeves.

Low-pulley station. The machine’s low pulley offers the possibility to execute seated rows, standing rows, stand-up curls, or other low pulley exercises. A short bar and a small extension chain for the low pulley are included with the cage. It is approx. 16″ (40 cm) long and also has rubberized grips. An ankle cuff for kickbacks is not included, though.

Dip station. The unit’s dip station consists of two dip bars which you can attach to the upright pillars of the cage. They are approx. 14″ (35.5 cm) long, and have rubberized grips for improved contact.

Weight Limits

First of all, the Soozier A91-145 power cage is rated for a maximum load limit of 800 lbs (363 kg). This pretty much applies to both the catch bars and the safety bars. Although there are power cages rated for higher loads, this is not bad for a home-use model.

The weight load limit of the lat carriage is not specified. However, the cables should be able to support at least 500 lbs (226 kg). The pegs of the lat carriage can accommodate standard 1″ weight plates, but they come with Olympic adapters so you can also load them with 2″ plates. Two sets of spring clips are included with the cage.

The maximum user weight limit for the Soozier A91-145 is 330 lbs (150 kg). This applies to the pull-up bar and to the dip handles. Therefore, if you are below this weight, you should be able to perform weighted dips or pull-ups without any issue.

Assembly and Maintenance

The Soozier A91-145 power cage requires complete user assembly. You will basically have to put toghether the base of the unit, add the pillars, close the cage with the top bars, then add the lat attachment, and the other accessories. The task is not too complicated but may take several hours. The manual provides pretty clear assembly instructions. Tools for assembly are not included.
