Frame construction

The XTERRA Fitness TR200 treadmill features a steel frame coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this model. The treadmill also integrates several parts made of thermoplastic material. The most notable ones are the covers of the side rail, the motor cover, and the console dashboard.

The fully assembled machine is not too large compared to other treadmills. Its footprint is 63.4″L x 28.7″W (161 x 73 cm). However, it still is recommended to allow at least two feet of clearance on each side and at the front of the unit, and at least three feet of clearance at the rear of the deck for safe usage.

The treadmill is fairly heavy. Its net weight is 99 lbs (45 kg). Therefore, the transport of the packaged unit may require two people or at least a box carrier. However, once it is assembled, it can easily be moved as its front base integrates a set of small wheels.

This XTERRA treadmill is foldable. The deck can fold up offering better storage possibilities. With the deck folded up, the unit’s footprint becomes 28.5″L x 28.75″W (72 x 73 cm), while its height reaches 61″ (155 cm). The folding mechanism is not a “soft-drop” one. In other words, when the deck is unfolded, you will have to slowly lower it yourself.

Deck construction and incline

The XTERRA TR200 treadmill is equipped with a pretty sturdy, 15 mm deck. It is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 250 lbs (113.3 kg) which is not too bad for a home-use machine. It uses a 1-ply, 1.4 mm belt which offers excellent contact. The internal rollers are crowned in order to provide better traction. They integrate sealed ball bearings for a smooth belt motion.

The machine offers a running surface of 50″L x 16″W (127 x 40.6 cm). This being said, the machine should be able to accommodate comfortably users up to 6’0″ (183 cm). Taller persons should still be able to use this machine but they may not benefit from a complete stride when running at high speed.

The machine’s deck is equipped with the XTRASoft cushioning system. It consists of three main cushioning elements on each side of the deck. These help disperse the shock generated by each foot strike which results in a more comfortable ride with a lower impact on your joints and back.

The XTERRA TR200 is equipped with a manual incline system. This being said, in order to adjust the incline of the deck, you will have to pause your workout and step off the deck. The incline system consists of two triangular stabilizers placed at the rear of the deck. These have three positions each and can be rotated. Therefore, you can obtain three deck incline levels, of 0°, 1°, and approx. 1.5°.

The deck step-up height is approx. 3.6″ (9 cm). Therefore, it is recommended to use this machine in a room with a ceiling that is at least 10″ (25.4 cm) higher than the taller user.

Drive motor

The XTERRA Fitness TR200 is equipped with a 2.25 HP peak power motor, similar to the XTERRA TR300. It offers a speed range between 0.5 MPH and 10 MPH and is designed to provide a continuous belt motion during prolonged workouts. It also integrates a small flywheel for improved motion stability.

The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH. This being said, the transition from a level to another is done smoothly without jerks or sudden changes, so you can easily adapt your pace. The console offers controls for gradual speed adjustment and quick speed adjustment for 3 MPH, 6 MPH, and 9 MPH.

The motor itself is fairly quiet. It doesn’t generate a lot of noise when in use, but when running at a higher speed, the thumping of your cadence will be heard. Also, since it isn’t an extremely powerful motor, you won’t have to worry about a high electricity bill even if you use the machine daily.

Console

The XTERRA TR200 treadmill is equipped with a pretty basic console. It does not have Bluetooth or online connectivity. It also does not have a workout fan or speakers. It features a 5.5″ LCD display with blue LED backlight. The display is divided into five sub-sections in order to show as many workout metrics as possible at once. It indicates time, distance, speed, calories, and pulse.

Speed and distance are shown in miles and mph; there is no option for setting them to metric units. The pulse reading function is grip contact only. In other words, the console is not telemetric and cannot read your pulse from a wireless heart rate chest strap, smartwatch, or fitness armband.

The console offers 13 workout programs, one manual, and 12 pre-set. The manual program gives you the possibility to adjust the speed as you like during the workout from the controls on the console. Conversely, if one of the pre-set programs is selected, the machine will auto-adjust the speed depending on the current program segment. Each program has its layout icon on the console dashboard.

The console features a Start/Pause button. If you pause your workout, it will only hold your time, distance, and calorie readings for 5 minutes; after that, it resets to the start-up screen. It has a sleep mode which initiates after 30 minutes of inactivity on the machine. And finally, there is also a lubrication reminder function that tells you to apply lube between the deck and the belt to ensure that the machine will run properly.

Assembly and Maintenance

This XTERRA treadmill comes pre-assembled and folded. So, after unboxing it, all you have to do is unfold it, secure the two upright bars and the console in the usage positions with the provided screws, and plug the machine in. This shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes. The manual provides clear, step-by-step assembly instructions, and all the necessary tools are included.

For maintenance, it is recommended to keep the machine clean, especially the belt, to prevent any debris to be caught in the motor. Periodic belt lubrication is also required; as we’ve mentioned above, the console has a lubrication reminder function, and a bottle of silicone lubricant is included with the treadmill.
