The ADVENOR YD106 treadmill is one of the treadmills released in 2020. It is similar in terms of features and construction to the Sunny Health & Fitness FA-7967. However, it’s a bit smaller and lacks the Bluetooth connectivity. But on the other hand, it offers more workout programs.

Frame construction

The ADVENOR YD106 treadmill features a steel frame but integrates several plastic parts in its construction as well. For example, the side rail covers, the motor cover, and the console dashboard are made of thermoplastic material. The frame steel tubes are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black, this being the only color available for this treadmill, at least for the moment.

The fully assembled unit is not too large. It is approx. 56.9″ (145 cm) long, and 25.2″ (64 cm) wide. This being said, it can fit even into a small room. However, it is recommended to allow at least two feet of clearance at the rear of the deck, and at least two feet of clearance on each side, for safe usage and ease of access.

The treadmill is foldable. The deck can fold up to save space when the machine is not in use. With the deck folded up, its footprint becomes 35.1″L x 25.2″W (89 x 64 cm) while its highest point remains the dashboard of the console which reaches approx. 50″ (127 cm) above floor level. The machine’s folding mechanism is a soft-drop one; it involves a hydraulic cylinder that slowly unfolds the deck to prevent damage.

The YD106 treadmill is not super-heavy like the commercial-grade models but it still weighs approx. 90 lbs (40.8 kg). Therefore, the transport of the packaged unit should be done by two persons or by the means of a box carrier. However, once it is fully assembled, it can easily be relocated by only one person; its front base frame integrates a set of transport wheels.

Deck construction and incline

The ADVENOR YD106 treadmill is equipped with a fairly sturdy deck rated for a maximum user weight limit of 220 lbs (100 kg). The deckboard itself is not too rigid; it offers a bit of flex. Plus, it integrates a set of shock absorption elements that reduce the impact generated by each footstrike. Thus, a run or walk on this treadmill is safer for your joints than a walk or run on asphalt or concrete.

The treadmill is equipped with a 5-layer durable belt combining PVC, polyester, and cotton yarn. This being said, it is highly resistant to stretching while its top layer is designed to provide a superior grip. The inner rollers have a crowned design which not only improves traction but also prolongs the lifespan of the belt. They integrate high-grade sealed ball bearings for a smooth motion.

The machine’s running platform offers an active surface of 43.3″L x 16.5″W (110L x 42W cm). Evidently, it is not as large as for a commercial treadmill, but still, it should be able to accommodate users up to 6’0″ (183 cm) for running workouts. Taller users should still be able to use this machine but they may not benefit from a complete stride.

The YD106 treadmill features a manual incline system. It consists of two folding foot stabilizers placed at the rear corners of the deck. These are made of heavy-duty thermoplastic material. Each folding foot has three adjustment holes, so you can lock it in the desired position via a removable metallic rod.

The incline provided by this treadmill is not extreme. The maximum incline setting, with the rear base feet folded, provides an incline of approx. 4.5%. The middle incline position sets the deck to an incline of 3%, while the highest position does not set the walking platform perfectly horizontal. It still has a slight incline of approx. 1%.

The deck step-up height is approx. 5″ (13 cm) when the rear stabilizers are unfolded (or locked in the highest position). Therefore, to avoid any inconveniences, it is recommended to use this treadmill in a room with a ceiling that is at least 10″ (25 cm) higher than the height of the tallest user.

Drive motor

The ADVENOR YD106 treadmill is equipped with a 2.5 HP (peak power) motor. It offers a speed range between 0.6 MPH and 8.1 MPH and is designed to provide a continuous belt motion during prolonged workouts. It’s also equipped with a small flywheel for improved motion stability.

Needless to say, since it’s an electric treadmill, it comes with a power cord featuring a U.S. standard plug. The length of the power cord is approx. 5’8″ (172 cm). It’s connected to the front bottom section of the machine. The treadmill also has an On/Off button right next to the power cord.

The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH. This being said, the transition from a level to another is done smoothly without jerks or sudden changes, so you can easily adapt your pace. The console offers controls for gradual speed adjustment only. It does not have keys for selecting 3 MPH or 6 MPH, for example. The treadmill also integrates speed controls into its right handgrip.

The motor itself is fairly quiet. It doesn’t generate a lot of noise when in use. However, depending on your weight, running technique or the type of floor the machine is on, your cadence may generate more or less noise.

Console

The ADVENOR YD106 treadmill is equipped with a pretty standard console featuring three small LED displays. The top display shows time, the bottom left display indicates distance and calories, while the bottom right display shows speed and pulse.

Speed and distance are by default set to metric units (km/h and kilometers). However, you can change speed to MPH by pressing the Mode and Program buttons at once. The pulse reading function is grip only. In other words, the console can only read your pulse if you hold on to the metallic sensors integrated into the side grips of the machine. It is not telemetric and cannot read pulse from a wireless HR chest strap or smartwatch.

The treadmill does not have Bluetooth connectivity and it is not compatible with any fitness app. However, its console has a fairly decent range of built-in programs. To begin with, it has the Manual mode which allows you manually adjust the speed as you walk or jog from the controls on the console. Three countdown modes are available as well. Thus, you can set up a workout target for time, distance or calories burned. If a target is selected from any of these, the console will count down from the selected target until it reaches zero, notifying you that you have completed your goal.

Next, the console has 36 pre-set programs. If a program is selected, the treadmill will auto-adjust the speed depending on each segment of the program. The included user manual has a table with the speed adjustments for each program. However, there also are three custom-user programs. Each one is divided into 10 segments and you can select a speed adjustment for each segment, as well as the total duration of the program.

Last but not least, the machine’s console has a BMI program. This function is designed to estimate your body fat percentage. In order to run this program, you will first have to input your data such as height, weight, age, and gender. Based on your input, the console will calculate your Body Mass Index which is basically an indicator of your current fitness level.

Assembly and Maintenance

The machine’s running platform comes pre-assembled. Therefore, you only have to attach the two upright bars of the machine, install the console, and connect the wires. This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes. The manual provides clear assembly instructions and all the necessary tools are included.

For maintenance, it is recommended to keep the machine clean, especially the belt. Deck lubrication is also necessary. A bottle of lubricant is included with the machine and the manual specifies that it should be lubricated after the first 25 hours of use, and then after every 50 hours of use. Other than this, it is also recommended to periodically inspect the treadmill to make sure that all the parts hold tight and function properly.
