The Marnur Mag bike is a pretty standard recumbent exercise bike made for home use. In terms of features, it can be compared with the Maxkare magnetic bike; the two bikes are actually almost identical. However, the Marnur bike has a greater user weight limit.

Frame construction

The Marnur recumbent exercise bike is constructed on a steel frame combining rectangular and cylindrical tubing. All the tubes in its construction are coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is gray, this being the only color available for this bike. The covers of the drive and resistance elements are made of durable thermoplastic material.

The fully assembled bike is not extremely large. It is approx. 51.2″ (130 cm) long, and 24.8″ (63 cm) wide, while its highest point is 37.4″ (95 cm) above floor level. It is recommended, though, to leave at least two feet of clearance all around the bike for ease of access and safe usage.

The Marnur mag bike features a step-through frame design. This type of frame construction offers an easier access to the seat, and easier entry and exit. This can be quite a plus for users with certain disabilities.

The bike is not too heavy. Its assembled weight is approx. 57.3 lbs (26 kg). This being said, it can be carried and assembled by only one person. Plus, once it is assembled, it is very easy to move as its front stabilizer features transport wheels.

Seat and handlebars

The Marnur mag bike features a fairly large seat. The seat pad is 14.2″ (36 cm) wide, and 10.6″ (27 cm) deep, while the backrest is approx. 15″ (38 cm) long, and 11.4″ (29 cm) wide. Both the seat and the backrest have a 1.5″ (3.8 cm) thick foam padding, in order to provide optimal comfort. The upholstery on both is made of a durable and perspiration-proof vinyl material.

The whole seat assembly is 2-way adjustable. It is attached to a slider which can move back and forth on its base rail bar. The adjustment system is lever-based. Therefore, you can adjust the position of the seat while you are seated.

It’s important to mention, though, that the backrest cannot be adjusted independently from the seat. It does not have a reclining feature, nor it can be positioned lower or higher. It has a very sturdy backbone and delivers a comfortable lumbar support.

The bike’s seat offers an adjustment span of approx. 11″ (28 cm), between 27.5″ and 38.6″ (70 – 98 cm). This being said, the bike can accommodate users between 5’0″ and 6’5″ (153 – 196 cm). Also, as we’ve mentioned above, the bike is rated for a maximum user weight limit of 300 lbs (136 kg) which evidently applies to the seat.

The Marnur recumbent bike is equipped with two sets of handlebars. One is attached directly to the seat assembly. These handlebars incorporate pulse sensors so that the unit’s meter can track your pulse. The other is attached directly to the console mast. This handlebar set is fairly simple but slightly curved in order to deliver a more comfortable grip for your wrists. These handlebars do not have pulse sensors. Both sets of handlebars feature high-density foam sleeves for an improved grip.

Resistance and drive

The Marnur recumbent bike is equipped with a manual magnetic resistance system. This means that you don’t need to connect it to an external power source, and you don’t need a power cord or adapter for it. But on the other hand, the included computer is pretty basic; it does not have pre-set programs and cannot automatically adjust the resistance.

The bike’s resistance system consists of a magnetic brake connected to the tension knob on the front upright bar of the bike through a steel wire. By turning the knob clockwise, the brake moves closer to the internal flywheel which increases the workout load.

Like most other magnetic resistance exercise bike in this price range, the Marnur bike offers 8 tension levels. The first level provides a very light pedaling difficulty, which is great for users that require recovery training. Conversely, the 8th level provides considerably more resistance, great for anyone who wants to burn more calories and improve their stamina.

The bike is equipped with a perimeter-weighted flywheel for improved inertia. However, since this is not a spin bike, the flywheel is not too heavy. It only weighs approx. 6.6 lbs (3 kg), so it does not provide a super difficult momentum. But nonetheless, the magnetic brake adds a fairly decent level of difficulty, especially when the 8th setting is selected.

Most magnetic exercise bikes are equipped with a belt drive system to avoid interference with the magnetic brake. The Marnur bike is no exception. It is equipped with a poly-v belt resistant to stretching. Since the bike uses a belt, and not a chain, you don’t have to lubricate it. Also, the pedaling motion is smoother and quieter.

The bike is equipped with a durable crankset. However, since it’s not a spin bike, it’s not meant for standing up on the pedals. Any workout of this sort may damage the internal components. The pedals integrate weight elements. They should always turn face-up when you remove your feet from them. They are also equipped with adjustable straps and have a non-slip surface.

Fitness monitor

The Marnur recumbent bike is equipped with a fairly basic fitness monitor. It features an LCD display that tracks time, distance, total distance, speed, calories, and pulse. It is not telemetric, so it can only track your pulse if you hold on to the sensors integrated into the seat handlebars. It also does not have an RPM function.

Since it’s a bike with a manual resistance system, the monitor unit cannot adjust the resistance and doesn’t have preset programs. However, it does have goal settings for time, distance, and calories. If a goal for any of these metrics is selected, it will show the remaining value until the goal completion.

The bike’s fitness monitor features three buttons. These are Mode, Set, and Reset. The Mode button allows you to select any of the workout metrics to view on the unit’s display or select the Scan Mode. When this mode is selected, all the metrics rotate in a sequence, each one appearing on the display for a few seconds. The Set button allows you to select workout goals, and finally, the Reset button gives you the possibility to clear all the values on the display to zero.

The unit is battery-powered. It requires two AAA batteries which are not included. It automatically turns on when you begin pedaling (or you can wake it up by pressing one of the buttons). It also automatically turns off to save battery after 4 minutes of inactivity on the bike.

One last notable feature to mention here is the device holder. This accessory consists of a small shelf integrated at the bottom of the monitor unit. It is large and solid enough to accommodate any smartphone or tablet. However, it’s important to mention that the fitness monitor unit does not have any connection ports for your device.

Assembly and Maintenance

The bike’s base frame and the drive mechanism come pre-assembled. You only need to attach the two base stabilizers, the seat, the front mast, the monitor unit, and the pedals. This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes of your time. The manual provides clear assembly instructions and all the necessary tools are included.

This exercise bike features a belt drive system so its drivetrain does not require lubrication. Therefore, you only have to keep the bike clean and periodically inspect it to make sure that all the parts function properly and still hold tight in their places.
