The MaxKare 2.5 HP treadmill is one of the models released in 2019 but it is still available. Although it is a light-capacity treadmill made for home use, it offers pretty decent quality for the price, and so far, it has gathered an impressive number of positive reviews from users. In terms of features, it can be compared with the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7860, but has a smaller walking platform and lacks the USB charging port and the tablet holder.

Frame and deck
The MaxKare 2.5 HP treadmill features a steel frame coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is gray, this being the only color available for this trainer. Since it’s a light-capacity machine, it is not recommended for users heavier than 220 lbs (100 kg).
This MaxKare treadmill is fairly small compared with other machines in this price range. It is only 53.39″ (136 cm) long, and 26.18″ (66 cm) wide. However, it still is recommended to leave at least two feet of clearance on each side, and at least three feet of clearance at the rear of the unit, for safe usage.
The machine’s frame has a folding design. Its deck can be folded up to save space. With the deck folded up, the unit’s dimensions become 28.47″L x 26.18″W x 46.42″H (72 x 66 x 118 cm). Also, it’s important to mention that the folding mechanism involves a hydraulic cylinder. This allows a soft drop for the deck when it is unfolded to prevent damage.
The fully assembled machine is not too heavy compared with other models, but still weighs approx. 91 lbs (41 kg), so the transport of the boxed unit should be done by two persons. However, once it is fully assembled, it is fairly easy to move. Its front base frame is equipped with a set of transport wheels. Also, the front base frame rests on four adjustable stabilizers with rubber caps.
Since it’s a small treadmill, the MaxKare 2.5 HP has a rather small walking surface. It is approx. 43″ (110 cm) long, and 17″ (43 cm) wide. This being said, the machine should accommodate users up to 6’2″ (188 cm). The belt is multi-layered. Its top layer is rubberized for an improved grip and highly resistant to wear and tear. It also integrates a noise reduction layer and EVA shock absorption layer.
The deck also integrates several shock absorption elements. Four cushions are visible; they’re placed two on each side of the deck. They’re meant to reduce vibration. But the deck also integrates several smaller cushions which are concealed by the side rail covers.
Incline and step-up height
The MaxKare 2.5 HP treadmill is equipped with a manual incline system, similar to the XTERRA Fitness TR150. It consists of two folding stabilizers placed at the rear corners of the deck. Each foot has three adjustment positions, so you can lock it in the desired position via a pop-pin. Evidently, the incline provided by these stabilizers is not extreme. When folded, they provide an incline of approx. 2° for the deck.
Of course, since the machine’s incline system is manual, you cannot adjust the position of the deck while walking on it. You will have to interrupt your workout and pause the belt for this task. Also, it’s important to mention that the console onboard programs do not involve incline; they only adjust the speed automatically.
The deck step-up height is approx. 7″ (18 cm). This being said, it’s recommended to place and use the machine in a room with a ceiling height that is at least 15″ (38 cm) higher than your own height.
Drive motor
As the title suggests, this MaxKare treadmill equipped with a 2.5 HP peak power motor. Although it is not as powerful as the motors of the commercial-grade machines, it still provides excellent performance for both walking and jogging. It also integrates a small flywheel for motion stability.
Even though it’s basically a walking treadmill, this MaxKare model offers a speed range between 0.5 MPH and 8.5 MPH. The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH, so you can easily adjust your pace from a speed level to another. The console makes available buttons for gradual speed adjustment, and quick selection speed adjustment for 1 MPH, 3 MPH, 5 MPH, and 7 MPH.
There are two more aspects to mention here. One regards the level of noise generated and power consumption. The unit’s motor doesn’t generate too much noise, and during a walking workout, your cadence can barely be heard. Plus, the two shock absorption elements on each side of the unit reduce vibration.
The second and last aspect regards its power consumption. As we’ve mentioned above, the motor is not exactly a very powerful one, so you won’t have to worry about high electricity bills even if you use this treadmill daily.
Console
The MaxKare 2.5 HP treadmill features an LCD display console. Its display is divided into multiple sub-sections in order to show as many workout metrics as possible at once. It tracks time, speed, distance, calories, and pulse. It also has blue LED backlight for improved readability.
The console is not telemetric. This means it cannot read your pulse from a wireless heart rate chest strap. However, the side arms of the machine integrate pulse sensors. Therefore, by holding on to them, the console can track your pulse.
The console does not have Bluetooth connectivity, nor it is compatible with any online fitness apps. However, it makes available 15 workout programs. Each program targets a specific workout. Some are interval-based, others are great to use if you want to burn more calories, while others are perfect for stamina development. Twelve of the programs have their segment layout shown on the sides of the console LCD display.
The console dashboard integrates two bottle holders, one on each side of the display. They’re large enough in diameter to accommodate most water bottles. Other features such as a sound system, USB charging port, or tablet holder are not available with this MaxKare treadmill.
Assembly and Maintenance
The machine’s deck, including the motor, rollers, belt, and other parts, comes pre-assembled. You only need to attach the two upright posts and the console. This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes. The task is pretty easy and all the necessary instructions are covered by the manual. A set of basic tools is also included.
For maintenance, it is recommended to lubricate the belt if it becomes too dry. The belt should also be kept clean to prevent any textile fibers or debris to be dragged into the motor or the rollers. Other than this, you only have to inspect the machine periodically for loose bolts or parts.
