The Soozier 100 lb home gym is one of the most affordable strength training machines (if not the most affordable) available at the moment. It’s in the same feature range as the XtremepowerUS 96138, but it lacks the preacher pad attachment. It’s also approx. $100 cheaper as well. This home gym features several workout stations, and as the title suggests, it is equipped with a 100 lbs weight stack. For reference, this is the Soozier part number A91-043.

Technical Details and Specifications

  • Assembled dimensions: 52.4″L x 42.1″W x 80.3″H (133L x 107W x 204H cm)
  • Net weight: 260 lbs (118 kg)
  • Weight capacity: 265 lbs (120 kg)
  • Weight resistance system: Weight stack and pulleys
  • Stack weight: 100 lbs (45.3 kg)
  • Possible exercises: 20+

Frame construction and parts

The Soozier A91-043 home gym features a durable steel frame made of square tubing. The fully assembled unit is not extremely large compared to other home gyms, such as the Body-Solid SBL460P4, for example. It is only 52.4″ (133 cm) long, and 42.1″ (107 cm) wide. This being said, you shouldn’t need a usage surface for it larger than 120″ x 100″ (305 x 254 cm). Also, its height is approx. 80.3″ (204 cm) so it should fit with no problem in a room with a 7′ ceiling.

Although it’s a basic home gym, it’s still fairly heavy. Its net weight is approx. 260 lbs (120 kg); this weight, plus your own weight should provide plenty of stability, so it is not necessary to anchor it to the floor. Its bases don’t have anchor points, or adjustable pads, just the protective end caps.

The unit’s main frame is coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish. The color used is black; the only exception is the guide rods of the weight stack which are chrome-plated.

This Soozier home gym integrates 14 heavy-duty nylon pulleys. They are equipped with internal ball bearings to provide a smoother operation. The cables are steel-made, rated for considerably greater weight than the 100 lbs (45.3 kg) the weight stack has. Also, the cables have a PVC coating to prevent the scratching of the pulleys and prolong their lifespan.

The seat and the backrest don’t offer any adjustability. They attach directly to the frame bars via screws. Due to their placement, the machine should be able to accommodate users between 5’0″ and 6’0″ (153 – 183 cm) with no problem, allowing a complete range of motion for all exercises. The seat is approx. 12.5″ (31 cm) long, and 11″ (28 cm) wide, while the backrest is approx. 25.5″L x 10″W (64 x 25 cm). They both have 2″ of foam padding and a durable vinyl cover, offering optimal comfort.

The front base of the unit, near the low pulley, features a small footrest plate. This feature improves the execution of low pulley curls, stand up rows and other exercises.

In terms of accessories, there aren’t many included with this machine. The only notable accessory is the lat pulldown bar.

Workout stations and attachments

The Soozier A91-043 features four main workout stations and attachments. These are:

High pulley / Lat pulldown station. The high pulley station allows the execution of a variety of exercises for the development of back muscles. As we’ve mentioned above, the lat pulldown bar is included. It’s a 38″ (96.5 cm) bar with curved, rubberized grips. However, you can also add one or two D-handles to the high pulley cable and perform pulldowns with different grips than with a lat bar.

Front press / Fly station. The machine’s front press has a double function. It allows you to perform regular seated front presses, but its arms also move independently, which gives you the possibility to execute pec flies. The arms of the front press feature large foam rollers to provide all the required comfort. They also have two sets of grips, one vertical and one horizontal.

Low pulley station. The low pulley opens a variety of low cable exercises. Among them, we can count seated rows, stand up rows, cable curls, low cable flies and more.

Leg developer. Needless to say, this attachment is connected to the low pulley. It has two sets of 4″ (10 cm) foam rollers to provide the required comfort for the execution of leg extensions. Since the machine does not have a long bench, you cannot execute proper dual leg curls, but you can still perform stand up one-leg curls. This attachment can always be removed in order to use the low pulley better.

Weight Resistance

The Soozier A91-043 is equipped with a 100 lbs (45.3 kg) weight stack composed of 9 main weight plates plus the top selector plate. Each one wighs approx. 10 lbs (4.5 kg).

The weight plates are made of cement and encased in a vinyl shell. This is one of the reasons this machine is considerably cheaper than one with a cast iron stack. But nonetheless, this type of weight stack is still quite durable. Without excessive abuse, the plates can still last a lifetime.

The unit’s weight stack features a simple, pop-pin selection mechanism. In order to adjust the weight, you simply insert the pin into the desired plate.

Finally, the machine’s weight stack is not upgradeable. There are no extra plates available for it. The cables and the pulleys should be able to support a much greater weight than 100 lbs, so you can improvise and add dumbbell discs to it on the outside like many users do. However, this is not recommended.

Possible Exercises

  • Seated Biceps Curls

Of course, for some of these exercises, you will need extra accessories. For example, for leg kickbacks, you will need an ankle cuff, while for seated rows, you will need a short bar.

Assembly and Maintenance

Just as for many other similar home gyms, the Soozier A91-043 requires full assembly. But since it’s a basic home gym, its assembly shouldn’t be too difficult. The included manual provides pretty clear assembly instructions and schematics. Tools for assembly are not included, though; you will need two adjustable wrenches and a rubber mallet.

For maintenance, it is recommended to periodically lubricate the guide rods of the weight stack in to ensure the proper travel of the weight plates. The pulleys may also need lubrication from time to time. Other than this, it is recommended to check the integrity of the unit before and after every use, look for loose bolts or damaged parts in order to remedy any problem that can lead to an accident.

It allows the execution of more than 20 exercises, including front presses, fly presses, bicep curls, tricep pressdowns, rows, leg extensions etc. This being said, you can perform a full-body workout during each workout session. And finally, it’s one of the most affordable home gyms available at the moment.

  1. If we can’t put extra weight on this machine den 45 kg weight stack will be not ideal for body building. Can we convert 45 kg weight stack to 60-70kg weight stack by anyhow adding weight plates to it?

    1. You can get a longer pin, insert it in one of the holes between the plates and place a barbell plate on it, or attach a plate with an extension chain. Improvisations like this can always be made for extra weight, but they’re not recommended.
