In terms of specs and features, the Diamondback 510T treadmill can be compared to the Sunny ASUNA SpaceFlex 7750 or the Sunny SF-T7718. That’s because it’s a “Compact” treadmill, which can fold flat, saving quite a bit of space. It’s a light-capacity trainer, designed for walking and jogging, but does offer a decent weight capacity and a pretty solid motor compared to other similar treadmills.

Frame and deck

As we’ve mentioned above, the Diamondback 510T Compact Treadmill is a machine designed for walking and jogging, despite the fact that it offers speeds up to 8.0 MPH and has a 2.0 CHP motor. The main limitation is its running surface which only makes available 48″L x 17″W (122 x 43 cm). This may not be enough for a user over 6’2″ – 6’3″ if they want to run. But nonetheless, for walking, the machine should be able to accommodate any user.

The unit’s deck integrates several rubber cushions and bumpers which considerably reduce the shock generated during each footstrike and the overall vibration. Also, it has the Belt Protect™ feature which consists of a top-quality front roller a bit wider in diameter than the rear roller. This feature not only that prolongs the lifespan of the belt, but it also improves belt stability.

The fully assembled unit isn’t extremely large compared to a commercial running treadmill, such as the Body-Solid Endurance T100. However, it does take 66″L x 30″W (122 x 76 cm) of floor space, and on top of that, it is recommended to leave at least a few feet of clearance at the rear and on each side.

On the other hand, the Diamondback 510T is a “Compact” treadmill. The term “Compact” refers to its folding design. The front section that involves the upright mast, console and side grips, can fold down over the deck, while the hand grips can also fold alongside the deck. This being said, with the whole frame folded, the machine’s height becomes approx. 11″ (28″ cm) if folded flat on the floor. Plus, the unit can also be stored vertically when folded.

Although it’s considered a light-capacity treadmill, the Diamondback 510T is not exactly the lightest fitness machine. Its net weight is approx. 108 lbs (49 kg). This improves the unit’s stability. But on the other hand, once the frame is folded, its relocation can be done with ease, via the front transport wheels.

Needless to say, the treadmill’s mainframe is built of steel tubing. It’s pretty sturdy for a light treadmill, its deck being rated for a weight capacity of 240 lbs (109 kg). All the steel parts in its construction are coated with a rust-resistant and abrasion-resistant paint. The color used is black, with the “Diamondback” logo painted on the console masts in white and red.

Of course, the machine also integrates several ABS parts. Among them, we can count the motor cover, the side rail covers, and several other small covers. The side rails also have a rubberized, anti-slip surface.

One last aspect to mention here, is the deck step-up height. When the machine is ina fully set-up position, the top of the belt is at approx. 6″ (16 cm) above floor level. Therefore, even if you place and use the machine in a room with a low ceiling, there shouldn’t be any height issues.

Drive Motor

One of the main advantages of the Diamondback 510T treadmill is its superior duty motor. It is equipped with a  precision-engineered HiTorque™ motor which offers 2.0 continuous horsepower. Most treadmills in this price and feature range only have a 2.0 or 2.5 peak power motor, which cannot offer as much continuous power.

The motor features AAA grade copper coils, high-grade insulation so it won’t generate excessive heating during a prolonged workout. It also has an internal cooling fan which reduces its overall temperature during usage. Plus, it is equipped with a fairly heavy metallic flywheel which considerably improves motion stability and reduces the vibration of the belt.

The machine’s motor offers a speed range between 0.5 MPH and 8.0 MPH. As long as you don’t exceed the 240 lbs (109 kg) specified weight capacity, and the running surface isn’t too short for you, you should be able to perform a sustained running session even at 8.0 MPH without any problem.

The speed adjustment increments are 0.1 MPH. This being said, you can perfectly adapt the speed of the belt to your stride and workout, and also easily adapt your pace to any speed adjustment. The console features controls (- / +) for gradual speed adjustment which decrease or increase the speed in increments of 0.1 MPH. However, there also are quick selection speed controls for 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 MPH.

Console

The machine’s console can be classified as a mid-range one. It does not have Bluetooth or online connectivity but offers quite an impressive array of features. To begin with, it has an LCD display with blue LED backlight to improve readability. The display is divided into 6 panels, so you don’t have to use a Scan function to rotate all the workout metrics. It shows time, distance, laps completed, calories, pulse, and of course, the current speed level of the belt.

For heart rate monitoring, the treadmill has pulse sensors integrated into its side grips. The console unit is not telemetric, and can only read your pulse through those sensors.

There are 10 preset workout programs on the console, from P1 to P10. Each one has a suggestive icon under the display, and they can be accessed via the Pro. button. Each program has its own specific; some of them are better for weight loss, others for improving your cardiovascular shape etc.

The console also offers goal settings and a BMI function. You can select a target for time, calories and distance which will serve as your goal for the workout. If a goal is selected, the console will show the amount remaining towards that particular goal.

The BMI (Body Mass Index) function is basically a body fat calculator. It will prompt you to input your age, gender, weight and height. Based on your input, it will establish your body fat index.

There also are two notable non-fitness features on the console. One is the FreeMix Acoustics 5.0 Sound System, the other is the tablet holder. The sound system features an MP3 port to which you can connect your smartphone, tablet or MP3 player in order to listen to your music through the speakers of the console. A connection cable is also included. The tablet holder consists of a small shelf placed under the console display. It’s large enough to accommodate any type of tablet.

Assembly and Maintenance

The treadmill comes fully assembled. All you need to do is unfold it, plug it in, and it should be ready for usage.

For maintenance, there are several aspects to consider. First of all, the belt requires lubrication every two months. It is pre-lubricated, though, so it shouldn’t need any lubrication for the first two months. For this, 100% silicone lubricant is recommended (one bottle is included).

Apart from deck lubrication, the belt should also be kept clean. Any dirt, small objects or textile fibers can be dragged under the belt and caught into the motor. And finally, it is recommended to periodically check for loose bolts and parts, and re-tighten them if necessary.
