The 2.7AT treadmill from Advanced Fitness Group is a medium range treadmill, designed for home use, able to support running workouts. It’s similar in specs with the ProForm Performance 600i, being equipped with a similar motor. Its running surface is 5″ shorter though, but on the other hand it offers a wider array of on-board workout programs.

Frame and deck
The main aspect which indicates that the AFG 2.7AT is a treadmill for home use, is its folding design. Its deck folds up, being equipped with a hydraulic cylinder which assists with its unfolding. With the deck folded up, the machine’s depth is reduced to 44.5″ (113 cm). 
Conversely, when it’s set in running mode, its footprint is 71″L x 34″W (180 x 86 cm). It’s not exactly a large treadmill, but still, it may not be the best choice for a fitness machine, if space is a problem. That’s because it requires at least 2 feet on each side, and at least 3 feet at the rear for safe operation.
The sustaining frame of the deck, as well as the sustaining bars of the console are made of steel, coated with corrosion-resistant and scratch-resistant black pain, this being the only available color at the moment. It’s a fairly heavy treadmill, its net weight being approx. 172 lbs (78 kg). This being said, you will need at least two people for transport and assembly. But on the other hand, this weight is actually a plus, as it renders the machine really stable. It won’t rock or move while you’re exercising.
When fully assembled, the treadmill’s relocation shouldn’t be that difficult, as the front base of the frame and the rear feet of the deck integrate small wheels. Also, the front base of the frame rests on 4 rubberized stabilizers, which not only supply a better grip onto the floor, they also prevent scratches.
The deck integrates a 3-zone cushioning system, designed to alleviate some of the impact on the joints and back during running. Differently put, a run on this treadmill offers a lower impact than a run on asphalt, concrete, or running pitch.
The deck offers a smaller running surface than other treadmills, but it’s still 55″ (140 cm) long, and 20″ (51 cm) wide, being able to accommodate comfortably users up to 6′ (183 cm). It’s also solid enough to support users up to 300 lbs (136 kg). It integrates a 2-ply, 1.4 mm thick, heavy-duty belt, designed to last for many year of use.
Motor
As its name suggests, the AFG 2.7AT electric treadmill is equipped with a 2.75 CHP electric motor. This particular motor is designed for heavy use, with a superlative continuous duty power, able to last without heating or slowing down even through the toughest, long-run workouts.
It has a dynamically spin-balanced assembly, integrating a small flywheel for increased stability. It combines top-quality components, being designed to last a lifetime. That’s exactly why the warranty for this particular part of this treadmill is supplied for a lifetime.
The motor itself is fairly quiet, the level of noise emitted shouldn’t interfere with your TV, the music played through the console, or your personal sound system. Most of the sound that you will hear during your running, is the sound of your cadence.
The motion generated by the motor is smooth, balanced, with a powerful feel. It supplies a speed range between 0.5 MPH and 12 MPH. Of course, this may not be the speed range that a professional athlete needs, but still, even if you train on a professional level, this treadmill can supply a consistent variety of workouts.
Speed is adjustable in increments of 0.1 and 0.5 MPH, which is quite a plus as it gives you the possibility to find the perfect pace for your workout.
Incline
The AFG 2.7AT treadmill has an incline system which is motorized as well. This means incline can only be adjusted from the console. Also, in case you use one of the on-board workout programs of the machine which involves incline, it will adjust incline automatically, depending
on the given workout segment.
The treadmill offers an incline range between 0-12%. It can be adjusted in increments of 0.5%, but there also are quick keys for the 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12% incline settings.
One last aspect to mention here, regards the machine’s step-up height. With its deck set at 0% incline, the running surface is approx. 8″ (20 cm) above floor level. Incline will add a few more inches at the front. Therefore, in order to avoid any ceiling height issues, before ordering this machine make sure you add at least 14″-15″ to your own height and compare the result with the ceiling height of the room where the treadmill will be in use.
Console
This AFG treadmill is equipped with a 5″ LCD display, with green backlight, which offers excellent readability. It displays the program segments, time, distance, calories, pulse, and of course, the current speed and incline settings. Distance is also displayed as a 400 m (1/4 miles) track, divided in 32 segments, each segment corresponding to a distance of 12.5 m (41 ft). However, the distance is indicated only in miles, while speed only in MPH. Pulse can only be monitored via the sensors integrated in the front handlebar of the treadmill. The unit cannot read pulse from chest strap transmitters.
The console unit has 30 built-in workout programs, plus the manual mode which lets you adjust speed and incline as you like, while running or walking. The 30 pre-set workouts are divided in 4 categories: STEPS, CALORIES, DISTANCE and INTERVALS.
- STEPS: Offers 10 step-based workouts calculated using average stride length. You can choose from 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, and 10,000 step workouts;
- CALORIES: Offers a set of 6 workouts evidently focusing weight loss. You can choose betweem 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 calorie burn workouts;
- DISTANCE: Offers 10 workouts with 1 mile,
2 miles, 5k, 5 miles, 10k, 8 miles, 15k, 10 miles, 20k, and half marathon goals; - INTERVALS: Offers workouts that focus on overall fitness improvement, stamina building and fat-burning, including 3 programs: Speed Intervals, Endurance Intervals and Peak Intervals.
The console also has a Goal Center Setup, which gives you the possibility to select goals for speed, distance or calories, aiming to help you continuously break your own limits. At the end of your workout, your progress towards your goal is automatically saved.
In terms of amenities, the console integrates a sound system, a cooling fan and 3 storage compartments. The sound system consists of two speakers. It’s compatible with most smart devices or MP3 players. The cooling fan has 3 speed settings, the current setting being displayed on screen. And finally, there are two storage compartments in the mid-section of the dashboard, where you can keep small accessories, such as earbuds, remote control, phone, keys etc. Also, the mid section of the dashboard can serve as a tablet holder or reading rack.
Last but not least, the treadmill has an Energy Saver mode (or sleep mode) in which will enter after 15 minutes of inactivity on the treadmill.
Assembly and Maintenance
Needless to say the treadmill’s deck along with its motors, comes already assembled, and attached to the metallic frame. So, for assembly all you have to do is attach the upright bars and the transversal stabilizing bar for them, and then mount the console, connecting all the wires. This task shouldn’t take more than an hour, it’s a straightforward process and the manual provided offers step-by-step, comprehensive instructions. The tools for assembly and calibrating the belt are also included.
Just as for any treadmill, maintenance requires the lubrication of the belt, after every 150 miles of usage. The console will display a “LUBE BELT” message when it’s required. Also, a tube with silicone lubricant is supplied with the treadmill. Other than this, it’s best to keep the running belt clean, free of textile fibers, animal hair (if you own pets), sand, dirt or other small objects that can be dragged into the motor and damage it.

Its console has 30 pre-set workouts, and goal setting functions. It’s a treadmill great for beginner and intermediate users, offering excellent possibilities for cardio training, weight loss, re-gaining or building stamina, and interval workouts. It’s a bit more expensive than other, similar models (at least for now) and does not have Bluetooth or online connectivity. However, it still is a solid machine, comprising top-quality components, therefore it’s safe to say that it comes with a decent price / value ratio.
